Texas and Oklahoma will receive cans of Anheuser-Busch water

U.S. Beer King, Anheuser-Busch has temporarily stopped producing beer at one of its Georgia facilities to can drinking water for flood victims in Texas and Oklahoma. Working with the Red Cross, Anheuser-Busch is producing 50,000 cans of water free of charge.

NBC News writes:

“Right now our production line is running emergency drinking water instead of beer,” Cartersville brewery manager Rob Haas told NBC News.

The Cartersville brewery produces cans of emergency relief water a few times a year, Haas said, partnering with the American Red Cross to provide to places in need within the United States.

“It’s something we’re uniquely positioned to do in a very timely period,” he said.

About 2,000 cases, each carrying 24 cans, are en route to communities in Texas and Oklahoma, he added. The water is expected to reach those areas within the next few days.

Red Cross spokesman Jordan Scott said the organization had been working with Anheuser-Busch, one of their disaster relief partners, to iron out the logistics of the water shipments and what areas they were needed the most.

“Oklahoma and Texas are in an unprecedented situation,” Scott said. “There are a lot of folks in need and everyone’s coming forward to help out.”

Scott said the additional drinking water would be “critical” to relief efforts in the area.

This is not the first time Anheuser-Busch has come to the aid of disaster-affected areas. After Hurricane Sandy, the beer company produced a whopping 44,000 cases of water for victims.

According to an ABC News report, Anheuser-Busch has been mass producing drinking water for disaster relief since the San Francisco earthquake of 1906 and has donated over 70 million cans of water since 1988.

You gotta love a company that chips in during times of need. Not to mention their blatant American patriotism.

If it were up to me, I’d take beer. It’s simple really — why drink water when you can have beer?

“This Bud’s for you” (Not for you nasty politicos…..)

That 911 tribute ad gets me every time.

One public broadcast and 1.2 million views on YouTube. That was one for the ages.

Good advertising.

And the water tastes remarkably like their beer, without the nasty odor of Clydesdale urine.

Good going.

They’re actually just sending Bush Light with a water label. Still, good for them.

So. Many. Jokes.

Bottom line is: An American based company doing what Americans are known for …. generously donating needed supplies in a disaster situation. Sure there is a positive P.R. aspect to it, but regardless, they have a history of helping when they can and are uniquely situated to do so. I applaud them. This Bud’s for you, Anheuser-Busch !
