“It’s okay! Biden just announced our new strategy to deal with ISIS. Time to target the 1% and let them have it. They’re close, we’ve already got their support plus their records from the IRS, and they’ll cut their own heads off, if you know what I mean, in exchange for a trip to NYC to meet Neal Patrick Harris.”

It turns out “Jihadi John” is a college graduate in computer science.

His parents may have seen to his secular education, but they didn’t teach him right and wrong.

So eventually, somebody else did.

Major Hasan, the “allahu akbar” shouting Ft. Hood killer, had a doctorate in psychiatry and a six-figure Army salary. Yet somehow, he still thought murdering “infidels” was the best use of his time.

Curious about that, isn’t it? It’s almost as if there is something other than jobs or money or lack of economic/social opportunities motivating these killers.

Gee, I wonder what it could be? Such a mystery! If only there was some
clue . . . . . . . . .

Most of the jihadis who have targeted us here in the West are educated and middle-class. Doctors and engineers , for e.g. They are not attracted to Islamic terrorism because they are poor and uneducated; they are attracted to Islamic terrorism because they are attracted to its ideology. Muslims in England live in a free liberal democratic nation, have access to free education, free medical care, and a very generous social safety net which makes them decidedly “un-poor” by world standards even if they never take a job in their lives. Yet one in four admit that they sympathize with their brothers slaughtering the Charlie Hedbo cartoonists.

The people of East Timor are heartbreakingly poor, they have large numbers of unemployed youth, and they suffer the same government corruption and top-down neglect as many terrorist-producing nations, but they’re not beheading aid workers, burning men in cages, blowing up trains or committing acts of terrorism at their neighbor Australia’s Westgate malls. According to the US Dept. of State, “No indigenous terrorist organizations operate in Timor-Leste [East Timor], and there are no known transnational terrorist groups operating in Timor-Leste.”

I’m with Observer, above: It’s almost as if there is something other than jobs or money or lack of economic/social opportunities involved here…

It Takes A Village Idiot.
We have a surplus of them: and they run our government.
