What is right about this picture, and wrong with MSNBC?

What is right about this picture, and wrong with MSNBC?

Well, just about everything.

A young child holding her baby brother’s hand.  A mother holding her children.

The mother happens to be Mitt Romney’s daughter-in-law.

To the race-obsessed minds at MSNBC, the fact that Mitt Romney’s son and daughter-in-law adopted a black child is something to mock.

The focus of MSNBC’s mockery was this Christmas photo Mitt tweeted:

Mitt Romney family Christmas photo 2013

(Video h/t Hot Air), transcript via Buzzfeed):

“Any captions for this one?” Harris-Perry asked her panel.

“One of these things is not like the others, one of these things just isn’t the same,” sang panelist Pia Glenn, adding, “And that little baby, front and center, would be the one.”

Comedian Dean Obeidallah told Harris-Perry that he thought the photo was “great” and that “it really sums up the diversity of the Republican party, the RNC. At the convention, they find the one black person.”

What a way to end the year.

Wait, there’s one day left. Never underestimate MSNBC.

I’m trying to find a tasteful way to posit that the offense to the liberals here wasn’t that the Romney family adopted an infant who needed a home and loving family; but rather that the child was born at all…. and there isn’t one. So, I just kind of blurted it out there as inelegantly as possible.

Mom, sometimes the correct tool to choose is the twelve-pound sledgehammer; in today’s environment, a tack hammer is utterly useless. Well said.

Given the whole family color coordination thing going on you have to admit that it’s more than a little odd that only the adopted boy is wearing pink…which almost makes him a laughing stock within the family.

Actually, we’ll never know about the gender of the other babies. But everybody (family member or not) will know the adopted baby.

If someone can inform me how they can tell the others are boys, please share.

Actually, we’ll never know about the gender of the other babies. But everybody (family member or not) will know the adopted baby. I dunno…maybe it’s a Mormon thing to dress all babies in pink. If someone can determine how the other babies dressed in pink are also boys, please share.

I guess Ms Tampon Earring has forgotten her own mother is white. Her logic seems to be that if one is born into a mixed raced family, that’s okay, but to be adopted into one is somehow wrong?

My heart breaks for the Romney family; they exude nothing but joy and love and get hatred and mockery in return.

snopercod in reply to eosredux. | December 30, 2013 at 7:03 pm

…they exude nothing but joy and love and get hatred and mockery in return.

That should tell you something: The left hates love, joy, and life itself. I’m sorry to be blunt, but like the Taliban and al-Queda, the American left is motivated by death.

murkyv in reply to snopercod. | December 30, 2013 at 7:41 pm

That’s one of the main reasons they hate Sarah Palin.

Attractive, happy, and has a loving, supportive family.

Things that most liberal women will never be or will ever have.

November in reply to murkyv. | January 2, 2014 at 11:36 pm

Sarah Palin is beautiful. Gorgeous in fact. By all appearances (and I don’t mean to be sarcastic) she looks happy with a supporting family. But those aren’t the reasons we Dems dislike Palin.

What Dems dislike is how Palin (as a VP nominee) clearly came across as uniformed, unprepared, and unintelligent. Palin’s interview with Katie Couric highlighted these shortcomings.

There are many brow-raising responses Palin gave during the ’08 campaign. But perhaps the most memorable was when Palin couldn’t Recall that when Palin was asked a very simple and straightforward question, “What newspapers and magazines do you read?” Palin responded, “Oh, I read them all.” When pressed, by Couric, Palin couldn’t answer. Really? A person running for the second highest position in the country…and a heartbeat away from the presidency responds with this?

Whether you’re a sports star, celebrity or politician, you know you’re an idiot when Saturday Night Live makes an epic parody of you. And the genius of that parody was that writers didn’t change a thing for Tina Fey playing Sarah Palin. Tina Fey said everything verbatim!

Many people will instantly back Sarah up simply because she has a similar philosophy. Others that will take exception because of a lack of common ground. I get that. I have a tremendous amount of respect for many republicans. But not her. It’s difficult even listening to her speak knowing she isn’t sufficiently informed. Without that it’s difficult making a fully coherent and logical argument.

ConradCA in reply to November. | January 4, 2014 at 11:41 pm

The reason the left attacked Palin and every other conservative women politician is that they are a direct threat to the Democratic party. The Democratic party is in reality a women’s party and as such female Republican politicians are direct threats to it’s existence.

If the Republicans were smart they would concentrate on recruiting women candidates. They also should train them so they don’t make the same stupid mistakes that many Republican female candidates have made. This could tear a hole in the heat of the Democratic party and point the way towards Republican victories in the future.

We should run 1/3 to 1/2 women candidates including a female vice president/president candidate. Also moderate the “anti-women” philosophy such as changing the goal of outlawing abortions to a reasonable goal of limiting them to the first 3 months of pregnancy.

These changes could dramatically change future elections in favor of the Republicans.

We speak of Evil in such abstract terms, almost like an intangible, but when it is personified right in front of us, we hardly realize that is exactly what we’re seeing – pure evil.

I would not grieve too much. I sense that the Romney family is secure within their circle, and within their individual selves. I would be surprised if they even watch MSNBC, much less care what the Cretins that inhabit that cess pool think or say. I know I don’t.

Don’t know the circumstances of the adoption. From all I have seen of the Romneys I assume the motive was altruistic, and that the race of the child was discounted, if was ever considered.

My own reaction is; lucky child.

I guess Ms Tampon Earring has forgotten her own mother is white…

And that Obama also had a “white” mother, and was raised by “whites”, and apparently was adopted by an Indonesian stepfather.

MSNBC et al. are flipped out, doing vague and meaningless faux mockery because the truth, brought home by facts like this, threatens their race-baiting divisive narrative.

politically I am not a fan of romney, but where he does shine is his family. and its a family to be proud of.
this thing really bugged me when I saw it earlier. what a sad state of affairs at msdnc.

We’re more than halfway to the midterm election, so why all the viciousness from the Left? You’d think they’d be publicizing the achievements of the Obama/Reid/Pelosi era.

Never mind.

You just know that picture, and what it represents, just drives them nuts!

How dare these horrible right wing wacko birds tarnish our well polished narrative!

That’s a strong picture of the Romney family. Why, they’re almost as white as the MSNBC prime time lineup!

But seriously, there’s been a raging debate the last half-century amongst sociologists, child welfare specialists and other educated, professional nosey-parkers about whether it’s proper to allow white families to adopt other-race or mixed-race children. There are those who claim that doing so amounts to “cultural genocide” in that it denies the child the opportunity to grow up “with his/her own kind”, and thus be culturally unarmed for all the struggles, etc.

To which my response has been, given what happens to these children if they’re NOT adopted — to grow up in a succession of foster homes, state homes, or no homes at all — to ask, “what kind of genocide do you call that?”

To which they have no response other than to seethe.

Full disclosure: I’m a proud adoptive parent.

harveytchao in reply to stevewhitemd. | December 31, 2013 at 12:12 am

To: stevewhitemd – as former foster and adoptive parents, some of the WORST racists I have come across were “social” workers who held that “no home” was better than a home of the “wrong” race. These social workers were of non-caucasian blood, and my wife and I are a caucasian-asian mixed marriage – so black and hispanic placments in our home made those individuals “unhappy”. Angered me then, angers me now.

turfmann in reply to stevewhitemd. | December 31, 2013 at 5:34 am

Doc, I believe that their response and solution is indeed genocide – these are the same people who will scream bloody murder if you suggest that there is anything immoral about the practice of abortion, which in itself is bloody murder.

The child on the far left, front row of the large family pic–shirt tails out, hands in pocket, flip-flops, menacing scowl — is my doppelganger. Except, I had a surf-board and long hair. I think he is just jealous.

huskers-for-palin | December 30, 2013 at 8:26 pm

This is TAME when compared to what the MSM did to Trig Palin. They’re just pissed that neither child was aborted.

And that his family actually loves him! Why, if they do not mock young Master Palin they might have to come to grips that he is actually human, actually a blessed gift from God as all children are. He is the silver crucifix held up in front of their vampire.

My 10 year old adopted black daughter’s school photo is the same makeup as the Romney photo. Can you imagine how it would hurt her if someone laughed because she’s the only black girl in her class? I think this is despicable.

Hmmm, 3-alarm chili, sardines in brine (or mustard sauce), Goat curds, warm Pepsi, and a Balut. Right before the show, should be on it’s way back up just when these folks start in on their daily hate. With luck would get them all.

Only adopt white children: You’re racist.
Adopt any black children: You’re racist.

I notice MH-P is wearing her USED tampon earrings this week.

Video proof of prog “tolerance”… these people are absolutely vile.

Noticed that too. Perry only wants attention, no matter how – using the baby as a punchline got her noticed. And she thought she was the ultimate by wearing her used tampon ear rings, all that happened was 3 of the 12 people who still watch her just shook their heads and walked away thinking, why am I bothering with her.

Does she or her network get money when anyone posts a video or picture of her? Is that why the the actors on those second tier news shows act the way they do?

At least there’s the knowledge that the hatred of these telepustules will die with them.

BannedbytheGuardian | December 30, 2013 at 10:52 pm

Melissa harris – perry”s mother was a mormon who went to BYU.

i am surprised they did not mention that black babies are 30-50% cheaper to acquire than whites.

The white babies are scooped up fast & the little black ones left in the manger.

BannedbytheGuardian in reply to BannedbytheGuardian. | December 31, 2013 at 1:22 am

The british leader of the opposition shopped for babies in the US because the UK is too tough.

The agency”s costs were laid out clearly for black & white babies any private agreements above & beyond this not withstanding.

Face facts downticker . its the market rate.

Little cynical there, aren’t you? The real reason why there are more black babies to adopt is because less white babies are born. Birth rates are dropping for all groups, but whites are decreasing faster. Just look at Western Europe, they’ve just about done themselves in.

BTW, maybe you didn’t mean to come across like you did, but babies, of any color, ethnicity, creed, etc. are Innocents in mankind’s mayhem of life.

BannedbytheGuardian in reply to Lady Penguin. | December 31, 2013 at 6:21 am

Blacks are 13% of american population & whites are 70%. they have been 13% of the population since always. if your numbers were right they would be edging up but they are not.

Excuses excuses excuses. Fact is the overwhelming majority of children up for fostering & adoption are black.

Not everyone shares your kumbaya about babies. blacks certainly don”t or they would keep them.

Why don’t you do a little research into why there are more black babies up for adoption then white babies, rather than make the blanket statement that black babies are so inferior that even their parent generally don’t want them (“Not everyone shares your kumbaya about babies. blacks certainly don”t or they would keep them.”)?

Oh, wait… I know why. Because you are lazy, and that kind of involved research would require about 2 mins. worth of internet searching. Also because you just pop on here to make snarky comments that you hope are both condescending and ironic, and then bask in misplaced self-satisfaction.

You don’t find the stats. Not surprising. You’re lazy and looking for attention. Case solved. No pondering.

BannedbytheGuardian | December 30, 2013 at 11:01 pm

The other kicker is that relinquishing baby mommas have a lot of choice as to where their baby goes. The adopting family”s details are often provided & it would definitely have stated Mormon & obviously the momma had no problems with them being white.

if the momma just wanted to get rid of him no questions asked then the baby has obviously improved its fortunes.

Well at least we now know what MHP and BHO have in common – they both despise their white mothers and their white relatives (and maybe even the white half of themselves). Freud would have had a field day with them! Someone should interview MHP’s parents on how they feel about all her racist remarks. Might be very interesting.

The face of MSNBC are very sick people — but slightly less so than the more intelligent, sinister sickos who put them there.

This segment wasn’t near as much fun as the segment when MSNBC taunted Barack Obama’s white grandparents for not only raising him, but, get ready for it……..taking a picture with him. Good grief.

Where were MHP and the rest when that young black boy in FL went to church and beseeched the congregation to adopt him. That story went viral. He’s found a white family to take him in, I think. Anywhere, I didn’t hear the tap tap tap of MHP’s tampons as she rushed to provide that boy with a home. Maybe, just maybe, he was too black for her.

The Romneys have a beautiful new child in their family. I don’t know the baby’s sex, but the baby looks loved, fat, contented, and happy in the picture. That’s all that matters.

Due to already poor and worsening ratings, heads are rolling at NBC/MSNBC, and you can feel the fear through such cynical, peurile, adolescent attention-mongering as this.

Though he made for a woeful presidential candidate, Romney is personally class act all the way and these MSNBC assclowns have erred majorly by contrasting their pettiness with it.

That was really pathetic 🙁 I wish I had never seen that.

theduchessofkitty | December 31, 2013 at 1:54 am

Count the grandkids in that picture. Twenty-one!

Now, assume that all of them have an average of three kids, thirty years from now. That would make it an average of 63 great-grandkids for Grandpa Mitt, more or less. Then, take all those great-grandkids, another thirty years from now, and multiply by the average three they have (and that’s a conservative estimate, mind you. I know the Romneys themselves had five to begin with.)

That’s 189 great-great-grandchildren. At least.

In other words, sixty years from now there will be more Romneys than any of those losers at MS-DNC, by a factor of 4 to 1. And, knowing how tight-knit this family is, I don’t think they’ll starve, either. I can’t say the same thing for those idiots who mock and insult them.

As for that beautiful child, he’s the luckiest one around!

Ha Ha Ha!
Look at the little Black baby!
Look at all those White people!
Ha Ha Ha!
Look at the little Black baby some more!
Ha Ha Ha!
What’s the little Black baby’s name?
Who do you think the little Black baby should marry?
Ha Ha Ha Ha!

Honestly, MSNBC, is that the reaction I’m supposed to have?
Tell me – under what circumstance would that Not be racist?
Oh. When You say it.
Because You’re the arbiters of what’s racist and what isn’t, right?

I have a friend who says you cannot truly speak about the state of a person’s soul…but I can’t help myself. The only words that come to mind when I hear these vile remarks from Ms. Perry, her elk, and MSNBC, the only description that comes to mind is that these people either have a twisted heart or a dark soul.

The Left recognizes no rule, no limit on themselves. They only attempt to impose their rules upon others.

It’s called “totalitarianism.”

The ethnically Irish Andrew Breitbart and his Hispanic sister were both adopted by the Jewish Gerald Breitbart.

I guess these dunces would’ve laughed and scoffed at a similar picture of an extended family of Jews with a couple of adopted gentile babies.

But what the Breitbarts, the Reagans, the Kemps, the McCains, the Bachmanns, etc. have done is something still almost unheard of in certain parts of the world, in contrast to America.

I’ve said it before: There’s a not-too-fine line between being stylishly and endearingly immature and being a childish loser obsessed with appearing hip and edgy.

Calling these people vacuous is an insult to vacuums.

These sad losers are the Mercury astronauts of tediously inane shark jumping.

BannedbytheGuardian in reply to LukeHandCool. | December 31, 2013 at 6:28 am

how can you be ethnically irish & have a latino sister? you must mean they adopted another child this time latino.

Mmmmmm no wonder he died so young . Adoptees even as adults can have some very serious anger issues which could explain his heart issues.

Adoption is not a fairy tale. iI is the ultimate rejection.

Kieran James Romney is ethnically mixed brace black with a white sister who loves him. Look at the pictures: she’s either holding him or leaning in to him. They are family not only by bond of law, but also by bond of love. Sometimes, the bond of blood is not necessary for people to be family.

Midwest Rhino in reply to BannedbytheGuardian. | December 31, 2013 at 9:23 am

I guess you mean adoption is a (good?) response to an “ultimate rejection”. I’m guessing there can be some deep “imprinting” on the child, depending on how old he is when “rejected”, and how violent the rejection was.

And there is no guarantee the adoptive parents will be quite as attached to the adopted child as their own flesh and blood. That is human nature, but the advantage of the more disciplined religious families, is they seem more able to overcome some of those hurdles, and accept the child fully, problems and all.

So to wander further into a speculative analogy … the left has chosen government as its adoptive parent, and they mock the family unit of the religious family. Were they unloved as children, or have they failed to launch from their childish attitudes? Blacks have accepted their Democrat Lords almost wholly, told they must accept their Democrat lords (Sharpton Jackson, not Cosby Sowell) as a united “global African American family”, yet they end up with Detroit. heh

Were you one of the people on the panel in that clip? You’re sure sounding like it. Silly Freud 101 declarations, rampant, ignorant, and baseless speculations presented as capital “T” Truth. And it’s all wrapped in a veneer of smug self-satisfaction.

Fes up! You were that guy that made the crack about the RNC, right?!

The take away from this story has nothing to do with the baby or the Romney family. To address the 800 pound gorilla, MSNBC is composed of vile, morally degenerate, feral humans.

If young Trayvon had not bounced around, and had strong Mormon adoptive parents, would he have tried to join a gang, been into drugs maybe selling, been out looking for fights, been caught with burglary tools … have attacked a “cracker” and pummeled said cracker’s head into the pavement?

Yet Trayvon is Obama’s martyr, not the black Chicago kid that rejects gangs, does well in school, then gets killed by black gangs on the street. And certainly not any adopted black child that may prosper in a white family’s nurture. Trayvon was no doubt carefully chosen, being the “victim” of a (kinda) white guy, in timing for the election.

Thomas Sowell stated “community activists have every incentive to exacerbate the problem, calm would be the end of their job”. And so it is with MSNBC and most of big media, as well as the leftist politicians.

(that quote at 16:50 of this video, then at the 21:00 it leads to Sowell discussing this quote) “seldom has attention been directed to how the less economically successful might improve themselves by availing themselves of the culture of others around them”

But the whole of the Democrat party has become not about appreciating and learning from “the rich” small business man, but rather at stealing from him, and hating him. He must have taken advantage of others by lies and deceit, he must be racist and sexist and xenophobic.

“most intellectuals around the world see the issue as, those who are more prosperous should be brought down .. and that people that are lagging should cling to their culture”

Obama mocks successful Christians that cling to their religion and their guns. Yet the left is happy with the gang and drug culture of Trayvon and his hoodie followers.

A minute later Sowell takes on black teenage unemployment, diversity, .. and somewhere he mentioned that blacks in Germany I think, tested as well as whites, but they weren’t raised in the gangster culture of American blacks. But politically it is a great success to get people to vote for you based on some ginned up evil, like Obama and his minions do constantly … and that is how we got Detroit.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmS9O5DFmrk

Scratch a Leftist, and you’ll see a hard-core racist bleed, every time. They can’t help themselves. Thinking of themselves as superior is a fundamental trait of the Left, and that means superior intelligence, superior morality, superior race, superior everything.

Henry Hawkins in reply to Zachriel. | December 31, 2013 at 4:27 pm

Ah, well. Never mind, everybody. She apologized.

Many people won’t apologize, or will try to shift blame. Apologies are important as they are an admission that the conduct was inappropriate.

Stormhunter in reply to Zachriel. | December 31, 2013 at 6:52 pm

When someone apologizes from the heart, and clearly sees their wrong, you may be correct. However, in this case, the line was crossed so far, regardless of an apology, you have to question how anyone could possible think it was OK in the first place.

MSNBC is an obvious culture of hate. Anything that falls into line of sight that is related to a past topic of hate and ridicule is deemed fair game, no matter the reality of hatred and racially motivated denigration. They are secondary. Palin and all things Palin – fair game (see stupid Christmas Tree rant). Romney and all things Romney – fair game.

If there is any substance to her apology, we’ll see the next time something gets teed up for her to berate. If she had any soul, she would not only refuse to participate, but would call out the others that do.
The groupthink is too strong here. My bet is this will never happen.

What Evel Knievel was to the Caesar’s Palace fountain, MSNBC is to the shark.

buckeyeminuteman | January 1, 2014 at 7:01 pm

It’s okay for MSNBC to say the large, white family with one black member looks like the diversity at the RNC. If someone on Fox said a photo of a large black family with one white member looked like the lobby of a Popeye’s chicken in Alabama I’m sure there would be numerous demands for apologies.
