#Ukraine – Police move in on #Euromaidan protest camp (Live Video)(Update – Protest camp survives night)

Update 12-11-2013 a.m.

The police action failed to dislodge the protest encampment, and may have backfired as more people are moving to Independence Square to join the protesters. You can still file live coverage at the video and Twitter embeds below.

———————————

Is tonight the night Ukrainian police dismantle the protest camps in Independence Square in Kiev?

The protesters are trying to keep Ukraine from falling back under de facto Russian control. For more background, see out prior posts.

Several live feeds fro different locations are embedded below.

Here are some images I captured earlier in the evening.

These brave people know what happened in Hungary, and then in Czechoslovakia. They are brave, and I wish them well.

    And Georgia.

Exactly what & when in Georgia? I once saw a mob of Latvians thrown out of a Georgian restaurant . The whole crowd yelled Nazis. . Of course Stalin was Georgias favourite son so it was quite funny.

In this part othe world they all share some common traits.

Could I mention the well documented anti semitism in Ukraine? How the Catholic natives of Kiev were quite happy about Babi Yar? In fact they led them there & many Ukrainians joined the as to ‘help’.

This is it, probably. 🙁
I hope they destroyed that Lenin statue so that it won’t go back up again, and I hope the protesters involved in the action will not have to do hard time for “huliganism”.

#Occupy, without the useful smelly idiots or the stink or fraud of Elizabeth Fakeahontas Warren.

we(Americans ) should take note. Demonstrations are not the solution to tyranny. I keep hoping it wont happen in my lifetime but I am not so sure. .Every politician should be afraid to step onto the front porch to get the morning paper.

People in Lviv have joined with their own demonstration in support of those in Kyiv.

Banned by the Guardian: There is good and bad everywhere. I have yet to find a country that is blameless. That is not being disputed. However, they people who are out there protesting are trying to prevent Ukraine for being absorbed again by Russia, despite their leaders. Do you really want to knock what they are trying to do?

I am not stopping anything happening. I did not cheer for Egypt & recall exactly these ran rahs fro naive westerners for them ( both times as it happened) .

Politics in the Ukraine has always been brutal. Their historical choice has been under the Germans or Russia . The current economic fact is that they are dependent on Russia energy though they would do better with trade to the EU .

An interesting fact is that China has leased 20% of Ukraine agricultural land!

” Their historical choice has been under the Germans or Russia .”
You must have the Czech Republic on your mind… unless by German you mean Yiddish or Catherine the Great. Germans were nowhere near most of Ukraine, save a few years during WW2. In Lviv, yes, the Habsburgs, but otherwise, good portion of it was Poland before the partition, Crimea was annexed from the Ottomans, Cossacs had a republican form of government before Catherine the Great.
