Tyrants if left to their own devices

Tyrants if left to their own devices

You may have heard.

There’s a petition at MoveOn.org, promoted by Daily Kos, to have conservative members of the House arrested for sedition.

And the petition has tens of thousands of signatures, with real people feeling bold enough to put their real names on it.  Not just bold enough, but damn proud of it.

Daily Kos Sedition

Professor Reynolds has some good advice:

THINK I’LL BUY ANOTHER GUN OR TWO:  MoveOn.Org petition demands GOP arrests for ‘conspiracy against US.’  Because these people are making plain how they think, and what they’d do if they had the power to.  Take it seriously, because they do.

That was one of the original reasons why, in fact, we had a 2nd Amendment, protection against tyranny.

As stated by the Court in the Heller case:

There are many reasons why the militia was thought to be “necessary to the security of a free state.” See 3 Story §1890. First, of course, it is useful in repelling invasions and suppressing insurrections. Second, it renders large standing armies unnecessary — an argument that Alexander Hamilton made in favor of federal control over the militia. The Federalist No. 29, pp. 226, 227 (B. Wright ed. 1961) (A. Hamilton). Third, when the able-bodied men of a nation are trained in arms and organized, they are better able to resist tyranny.

Yes. They are authoritarian and totalitarian, just beneath a very thin veneer of lies.

They are the Collective. Like their Soviet and Nazi cousins. All part of a piece.

The funny thing is…

if left to my own devices…and those who believe as I do…they would enjoy MORE liberty and EXPANDED choices.

But, you’ve just hit upon one of the central and most glaring fallacies of liberalism, haven’t you? The Left may wax rhapsodic about “freedom” and “choice,” and pay lip service to empowering the proletariat, but, at the end of the day, what they really seek to implement is the diminution of the freedom of the individual, while simultaneously expanding the State’s control and power over the former.

The liberals know exactly what they’re doing. They don’t want “freedom” — it’s just a buzzword to use as a propaganda tool. I think that they truly want to be controlled by the allegedly benevolent, infallible and sagacious hand of the State. Of course, they’ll frame that control in the narrative of a paternalistic government that “cares.” Nothing new here, right? Old tactics from the well-worn Marxist-Leninist playbook, just re-published in an expanded and revised edition, with updated tactics provided by Mugabe-Bama, Pelosi, et al.

Ragspierre in reply to guyjones. | October 18, 2013 at 1:33 pm

This is why I use the more apt term “Collective”, instead of the purloined “liberal”.

They are the opposite of “liberals” as that term was employed during the Enlightenment, which is typical of their concerted corruption of language.

They are reactionaries to the American Revolution, and adherents to a very old, very evil system of government…which has prevailed through most of history and prevails through most of the world now.

guyjones in reply to Ragspierre. | October 18, 2013 at 1:40 pm

Well-stated. Your insights make me wonder if, perhaps one of the motivations for the rise of the oft-used euphemistic descriptor for members of the collective (I’m learning!) — “progressive” — reflects a tacit acknowledgement of just how much they have perverted the true meaning of the word “liberal,” by their actions and by their agenda.

TrooperJohnSmith in reply to Ragspierre. | October 18, 2013 at 1:51 pm

And in some of the great ironies of history, many of these adherents disappeared into the Gulags, killing fields, salt-mines and torture chambers of the Benevolent Regimes they helped bring to power.

Many in the Soviet Union disappeared believing that Father Stalin was sadly unaware of the actions of some nefarious counterrevolutionary who was having them shipped across the Ob River, when in fact, their deportation had been reviewed and approved by the Man of Steel.

And they just love to call conservatives ‘sheep’.

Ragspierre in reply to guyjones. | October 18, 2013 at 1:58 pm

      http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/361633/moveonorg-hosts-imbecile-seditious-conspriacy-petition-against-house-republicans

The indispensable McCarthy on how the Collective is inappositely using the term “sedition” against political opponents, while refusing to use it against those who actually commit seditious acts.

They shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place.

Treason being defined as “…only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.”

Also note that the immunity extends to any Speech or Debate. Presumably that would include any argument up to and including what otherwise might qualify as sedition. For, having voted in agreement, and being signed into law, any such argument would therefore cease to be seditious, and so therefore cannot be suppressed in open debate.

So, it is plain that this petition (materially supported by OFA) as written, is a direct offense to the Constitution.

Yet hey are the ones bandying about the word sedition???

About as surprising as a sunrise.

The Leftist Collective is ALWAYS 100% GUILTY of what they are accusing others.

The Leftists are the treasonous members if there are any in this.

Remember these are the same brain-dead idiots who brought the world the Obama Nobal Piece Prize.

TrooperJohnSmith in reply to ThomasD. | October 18, 2013 at 1:57 pm

I used to regularly troll and piss on the Krazy Kos Kids, but it was like clubbing baby seals. In the war of Fact v. Emotion, fact equals rock, paper and scissors, combined. Anyway, I was banned like 12 times, but I always came back on the proxy-server, but after a while, it just wasn’t the same any more. I felt more and more like Nurse Ratched…

What I can say is that there are some sick, sick people at Kos, who have more in common with Al Qaeda than Al Goldstein.

Not A Member of Any Organized Political in reply to TrooperJohnSmith. | October 18, 2013 at 2:05 pm

      LOL
…and somethings those people NEED a Nurse Ratched!

They banned you merely for expressing your opinion and for attempting to disabuse them of their illusions, for being the proverbial fly in the ointment? Wow, they are sensitive over there!! What happened to that much-vaunted liberal “tolerance?”

Spiny Norman in reply to guyjones. | October 19, 2013 at 1:33 am

It doesn’t take much to be banned at DKos. I’d be surprised if TrooperJohn got more than two or three comments in before the banstick.

TrooperJohnSmith in reply to Spiny Norman. | October 19, 2013 at 2:48 am

          Right you are!

I’ve re-upped 2-3 times a day. With a proxy server, your IP cannot be traced. What’s funny is to lurk on the threads from which you’ve been banned and watch the Kos-Wads accuse any new poster of being me.

Finrod in reply to guyjones. | October 19, 2013 at 11:59 pm

Hell, over on NRO there are more leftists nowadays than on dKos. It’s pretty pathetic.

Remember, before the Surge when Harry Reid stood on the floor of the US Senate – with US troops in the field of combat – and declared the war lost?

If that did not qualify as ‘aid and comfort to the enemy’ then nothing done in this Congress would either.

Bring it, you traitors and lawless kooks.

It is common for a judge when viewing the evidence to reverse court cases and make the plaintiff the defendant and vice versa.

The leftists are projecting as usual – their sedition is plain to see by ‘anyone with one eye and half sense’, as my Grandma and Grandpa used to say.

Milhouse in reply to Uncle Samuel. | October 18, 2013 at 5:00 pm

Really? It’s common?! When has it ever happened? By what authority can it ever happen? And what have plaintiffs and defendants got to do with a criminal case anyway?

Change the name from DailyKos.com to Crybaby.Com or maybe Totalitarian.Com

Liberals will always sign a petition. It’s what they do. They are like a herd of sheep being directed by a trained dog. They go where directed and bleat instinctively in unison at any perceived threat. Their sameness is the reason for their shared stupidity.

This is infantile beyond belief. The Left has lost its collective sanity — assuming that it ever existed in the first place…

Libs really cannot brook any dissent with respect to their orthodoxy, or, stomach opposition to their agenda, can they? This is emblematic of a totalitarian mindset at work, aided and abetted by scores of automaton lemmings who lack the capacity for objective analysis and thought.

Petitions have many uses. The “Recall Scott Walker” petitions in Wisconsin were compiled into a single searchable database. Want to know if your neighbor signed? Your loud-mouthed brother-in-law? That favorite bartender you always leave the big tips for?

When it comes right down to it that information is useful for helping take care of those who help take care of you. And identifying those who don’t. Petition signers go out of their way to publicly declare their interests. I can’t think of a single reason why I shouldn’t want to know who is working against my best interests. They say knowledge is power.

Once again the proggie drones demonstrate how monumentally ignorant they are. Do they not understand that everything the Republicans did during the ‘shut down’ was fully within the bounds of their Constitutional authority? Our government was designed to operate that way… remember ‘checks and balances’ from civics class?

But the true irony is that their very act of starting this petition is in fact the act of sedition. They’re calling for the arrest of government officials for doing what they were elected to do in a fully legal manner. Taken at face value I would say THAT is an act of sedition.

And furthermore, Barry Soetero’s failure to enforce standing laws (take for example border protection, immigration, his own ‘health care’ law and others) and their continued attempts to undermine the 2nd Amendement… THOSE are acts of sedition.

So once again the proggie drones are projecting. In honor of their stupid, ignorant petition I am wearing my Gonzales Flag T-shirt today, and this weekend I’m going to go out and do some target shooting with my new Springfield M1A. It’s not black, and it doesn’t have a pistol grip, but it shoots .308 rounds out of a 20 round magazine and it’s really loud and shoots really fast. Oh my! Scary! Come and Take It you proggie punks.

They do not know, and more troublesome,
They don’t care because they are
    LAZY!

    LAZY LAZY LAZY!

I know a few where I work and they are worthless dits!

Standing against a progressive devaluation of capital and labor is considered seditious? Standing against the formation of authoritarian monopolies and monopolistic practices is seditious? Standing against the reduction of human life to commodity status is seditious? Is MoveOn.org an American enterprise? They seem wholly unaware of American values.

Highest Form of Patriotism Top Gainers and Losers

UP: Transformation

DOWN: Dissent

They Left has a habit of calling Conservatives “extremists.” I think it’s time to start talking about what is extreme. Calling for the arrest of American citizens based on the way that they think definitely qualifies.

The Collective/progressive/liberal mindset is so closed that they don’t even recognize that their behavior and thinking is nothing more than projection and is exactly what they condemn in others…but what are they going to do if buildings burn and the blood flows and they are unarmed because ‘guns are scary’? History has always shown that the State is more than willing, and its enforcers happy, to execute people on the streets without fear of retaliation… Police officers regularly kill innocent people without consequence.

My brother is a collectivist in the FAA and his reaction to the shutdown, even when I pointed out the theatrics of it and the lack of pain for him, was angry and filled with cursing and –especially for a history major– completely inaccurate understanding of history.

If the revolution should be sparked, the bureaucrats will not be on the side of America.

I’ve made this point several times before, and this is a good time to repeat it-

Obama says he’s not taking away your guns, but he wants to.

The government says they’re not trying to take over the private sector, but they want to.

They say they’re not trying silence dissent, but they want to.

They’re not trying to indoctrinate your children, make them wards of the State, but they want to.

Persecute Christians? Nope, they’re not doing that either, but they want to.

So, tell me. Is it not an inherent characteristic of the human condition to strive to achieve what you want??

Real people signing up? Thousands of signatures? Darth Vader signed the petition no fewer than 9 times on Oct 17th. Numerous others have also signed multiple times. The 22,000 or so signatures accumulated on the 17th is really probably no more than a fraction of that.

Darth Vadar is very real. He haunts my dreams 😉 /sarc

Seriously though, even if a fraction of 22,000 have signed that petition, then it’s too many.

Each person who signed (with a real name or not) is the real terrorist. They just don’t realize it yet.

gasper in reply to proxonaut. | October 18, 2013 at 2:39 pm

That’s also the way they vote.

This is another example of Liberal Fascism. I really urge all to read Jonah Goldberg’s book “Liberal Fascism.” It is absolutely chilling to read the extent the Left supported fascism.

The Palmer Raids were from “Progressives” and worse than any McCarthy abuse of the Constitution.

Hell, once Pres. Wilson decided the US would join in WWI Americans were arrested for not buying ENOUGH war bonds. A neighbor could call the police and say you only bought $20 in bonds and if the police chief were progressive and knew that Wilson called on Americans to buy even more you got the handcuffs and a local showtrial.

This doesn’t surprise me a bit.. Living just outside of Chicago, when McDonald v Chicago was decided our municipality had to recognize my right as an individual to own a firearm. The gun control folks here were quite upset. Within months the Board of Health was mobilized to find a way to ban firearms again as an issue of public health. At the same time a group of men stood up to the village and over the course of six months, they were able to beat back the proposals.

Not a single person on the side of gun control showed up to any meeting, yet during meetings on several occasions the commissioners were heard talking about how much they hated guns and that they would ban them all if they could.

Now the right to carry concealed has been recognized in Illinois. The health department is back at it again and gun control is back on the work-list for 2014.

“The mind that aims at a select militia, must be influenced by a truly anti-republican principle; and when we see many men disposed to practice upon it, whenever they can prevail, no wonder true republicans are for carefully guarding against it.” – Richard Henry Lee

Jeff Kuhn (a Washington Times writer and WRKO radio host) had the best line I’ve heard today:

“They don’t even call terrorists, terrorists.”

Channeling the inner Robespierre…

I’m going to need more than a 9mm. Time to stock the armory.

Time for some Legal Sedition.

Goddam fucking fascists.

PersonFromPorlock | October 18, 2013 at 5:03 pm

So, how about a petition to likewise indict the Democratic Senate leadership? Sauce for the goose and all that. Especially if it gets three or four times the signatures, which it probably would as an object lesson.

Seems the “comrades” over at the Peoples Cube are having some fun signing the petition …

http://thepeoplescube.com/peoples-blog/please-sign-the-mov-on-org-petition-t11887.html

The Fascists are at it again. [face palm]

In their twisted minds their side is the AUTHORITY, and you will respect THEIR AUTHORITY. [Cartman voice]

Jeez. Constitutional law means nothing to these twits.

Do you remember when dissent was patriotic?

I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration, somehow you’re not patriotic, and we should stand up and say, “We are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration!”

Sec. Hillary Clinton

Finrod in reply to kevino. | October 20, 2013 at 12:07 am

As I’ve been saying for a while now, it only took 5 years for leftists to go from “Dissent is patriotic!” to “Dissent is treason!”.

BannedbytheGuardian | October 18, 2013 at 7:08 pm

More bluster.

Nothing will happen.

Meanwhile 48% of American babies are born on Medicaid. Amenrica will slowly & calmly slide into a land of poorer people.

That 25th ranking in maths will be 50 th when these kids start showing up in school statistics.

Kos & MoveOn and other Lefty Nutter sites fall under my SOP filing of: CANNOT Possibly Make This SHIT Up.

I sometimes like to visualize their fates at the hands of another Left Tyrant like Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Kim, etc. Like so many of Comrade Stalin’s communist victims, they’d have that priceless, stunned, “Who…Me…?” look on their vapid faces. And, then: Boom-Boom-Poweeeeee!!

Is that a tear I’m sensing..? Nope…Just a speck’o’dust.

Ha! The joke’s on them. House Republicans have no leadership!

Communism kills.

GOPism enables communism.

Interesting. Well, if that’s the move they want to make, I suggest they get their Obama bumperstickers removed from their cars. Unless they really want to give us such good targeting information. It’s like a little vinyl IFF transponder.

I don’t think they understand what they are asking for, because their opposition has ben preparing for (and warning against) this kind of moment for decades. Full scale civil war.

Maybe this stupid petition isn’t really what is pretends to be. Could it be that it’s real purpose is to identify the idiots who will support the progressive fascists at moveon.org? They can’t be so stupid as to think that anything will come from this evil petition.

As a variation on a theme to the Gadsen “Don’t tread on me flag” I prefer the more direct and unquestionably least understood phrase,’ “Leave me the f*ck alone, or else.”

Correction: that would be ‘…least misunderstood phrase…’ Sorry.
