Fort Hood Shooter Sentenced to Death

Fort Hood Shooter Sentenced to Death

A jury has sentenced Nidal Hasan to death for his heinous actions in the November, 2009 Fort Hood massacre.

On August 23rd, Hasan was found guilty of 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder.  Hasan’s own standby defense lawyers had asked to be excused from the case because the Fort Hood shooter seemed to be arguing for his own death sentence.

The sentence of death also means that Hasan will get an automatic appeal.

Hopefully, Hasan’s victims, who have thus far been disqualified from receiving combat-related benefits and Purple Hearts because of the incident’s “workplace violence” classification instead of terrorism, will someday see justice.

Updates:

Per military law, Hasan’s death sentence is subject to review and approval by a convening authority.  Assuming the sentence is approved and carried out, Hasan would be the first active-duty soldier executed in more than 50 years.

Prosecutor Col. Rick Mulligan addressed the issue of Hasan’s statements regarding being a martyr, via KVUE:

“You cannot offer what you do not own,”  Mulligan said in reference to the fact that Hasan has made statements regarding being a martyr. “You cannot give what you don’t have…he will never be a martyr because he has nothing to give. He is not giving his life. We are taking his life…This is not his gift to God. This is his debt to society. He is a criminal. He is a cold blooded murderer.”

Works for me.

No to quibble, but the military is different.

He’s not “sentenced to death” until the Commander in Chief signs the order.

That’s not happening, and they know it.

That order hasn’t been signed since 1961.

theduchessofkitty | August 28, 2013 at 3:41 pm

Well, he wanted his “martyrdom”, he’s going to get it…

This means that Al-Quaeda will have approximately 20 years to kidnap Americans and demand a trade for their imprisoned hero.

I read the method is lethal injection. When did my military become such p*ssies? Should be hanging or at least firing squad. I’d even bring my own firearm and ammo. Given what has been happening in the middle east, a Guillotine seems the most appropriate though. This must be the first perpetrator of ‘workplace violence’ to ever receive the death penalty.

Please soak the bullets in pig blood before loading…..Yeah, I know. Won’t happen.

He didn’t mount a defense, and wanted to be a martyr. Who are we to deny him that privilege?

Ugh, why do we have to give the martyr what he wants?

….because only he and his insane brethren believe it. Besides, what’s one more martyr? They’ve got legions of them already. The whole martyr argument is just a lefty smoke screen to protect them.

We’re not giving him what he wants. Hasan won’t be executed by the government. the last military execution was in April of 1961.

The FBI–Mother Jones came late to the party but put it all together–biffed this one. You know. The “What Boston Bomber” FBI.
But that’s the FBI.
What about the guys who gave Hasan his outstanding OERs?
I saw a major, passed over twice for promotion, choose to revert to his permanent rank of staff sergeant to get his twenty in. He wasn’t accused of appalling professional performance or demonstrated Islamic nutcasery. He just wasn’t as good as his peers.
I really want to know about his efficiency reports and ratings. Who did them and what the hell were they thinking?

2nd Ammendment Mother | August 28, 2013 at 5:02 pm

Since he and Bradley Manning are the newest inmates, any chance they’ll be rooming together? And I would actually consider ti cruel and unusual punishment for Manning…..

JackRussellTerrierist in reply to 2nd Ammendment Mother. | August 28, 2013 at 5:25 pm

Hmmm….maybe it could happen like this…..Manning offers oral sex to Hasan, a muzzie. Muzzies hate homosexuals. Hasan kills Manning for the insult, especially if Manning has had his sex change and looks like a woman. Then Hasan gets executed for a hate crime against a transgendered homosexual/LGBT. Now THAT is an execution order obastard would actually sign!

    It’s a win-win for everybody.

Actually, I’d love it if they put Manning and Hasan together in a cell, with a bullet proof glass covering for the door. Give Hasan a revolver and one bullet. Let Hasan decide to kill himself and be a martyr or to kill the infidel instead.

I’d be fine with either outcome.

Manning’s sentence should have included “at hard labor”, that way he could be the buffest girl turning big rocks in to little rock.

Bitterlyclinging | August 28, 2013 at 5:09 pm

The longer he is kept alive, the higher the probability he becomes a bargaining chip in a hostage taking event, an Airbus 380 filled with infidels on the ground at a Pakistani, Iranian, or Somali airport in exchange for Hasan’s releaase or they all die. Justice delayed is justice denied for the anticipated hostages. Dressing him a pig skin suit would be a nice touch.

Americans are taking their lives in their hands by going to those countries in the first place. Any American dumb enough to go to any of those places who loses his/her life there has done their part for the cleansing of the stupid-American-low-information gene pool.

let’s keep this simple: let the families & survivors take him out into the Ft Hood impact area, find a big cluster of fire ant hills, pour a large bottle of pancake syrup over him, then drop him onto a hill in the center, and stir up the other hills as they walk out, leaving a trail of syrup back to his worthless carcass as they do.

Mother Nature will deal with the rest

Tell BO we don’t want to leave a bargaining chip on the table. He’ll sign.

The good thing is that he probably wouldn’t get sex change surgery, like Bradley Manning apparently is asking for.

The funny part is that I would be Ok, with a Sex change for this animal, that is if we could drop him in syria right afterwards, but for manning, well the first part of the sex change is ok, that way we can be sure he will never breed.

Mandy,
offtopic kinda
Why do you use so many copies of who said what on assorted social media locations?
To me any way it really subtracts from the content of the blog posting.
It is a real pain in the ass to get through them all to
get to the content of in this case your 2 cents.
I know you are social media person but a blog is supposed to be a posting of what the author thinks on an issue
not what so many others do ( or used to be ).
Perhaps this is what people want blogging to be now, I don’t know and that is fine. If I wanted to read all those
posts I would be going to their sites etc.
Sure hope this is not the future of blogging…..

I admit I don’t see the value either. I’ve never heard of any of the people in the posted tweets. To me, it reads “Somebody I’ve never heard of thinks this:” and “Somebody else I’ve never heard of thinks this:” Um, OK. And I care because? (This is directed not at this contributor but to any contributor on any blog who posts tweets or quotes from unknowns.)

Good to see there is still a few clear thinkers that haven’t been poisoned by PC.

Dump him where Binny-Boy, supposedly is. The creatures of the sea will love it.

During the trial there were complaints of having to cleanup his fecal mess after he deliberately mishandled his colostomy bag .

So now poor junior service personnel will be rote assigned to clean up after him forever.

Lofty ideals are fine for the banquet set & degrading for the working class who do all the shit jobs.

Rick the Curmudgeon in reply to BannedbytheGuardian. | August 28, 2013 at 10:57 pm

So now poor junior service personnel will be rote assigned to clean up after him forever.

“Go ahead, spill your colostomy bag so I have to clean it up; it might take a while and I’m liable to spill some on you in the process and THAT might take a while to clean up.”

“You sir are a convicted murderer Oh-nothing; I am an E-1 assigned to clean up your messes. I out-rank you now. There are certain enlisteds you don’t fuck with: mess cooks, pay clerks, corpsmen, parachute riggers (for aviators)and me.”

I believe Øbama will do nothing with this, even if it were to hit his desk. (Judicial review takes time you know.) He’ll simply run out the clock and leave this hot potato for the next President to handle. OR, more reprehensibly, trade a pardon for Hasan for Purple Hearts and combat-injury benefits for the wounded.

The problem here is the FBI knew about his contacts with extremists, including basically asking for a fatwa to kill his fellow soldiers, and didn’t bother to alert his superiors.

Has Holder got them all covering up crimes for the Administration so there are no agents left for real investigations?

We need a lottery setup where the winner gets to push the button for the chemicals to flow. I’m sure that everyone in the whole state will enter.

Yea, now lets see if they ever actually get around to executing the little savage. I believe the last time was 1961 for a military execution.

Also, what is with this lethal injection crud, firing squads are cheaper and if I remember correctly still allowed in the military as well has hanging. I would actually prefer the second for this particular animal.

What I expect to happen is that as a result of his mandatory appeal the panel will commute his sentence to life due to his paralysis and we will end up feeding him for the rest of his life.

Even if he is ever executed it will most likely be at least a decade from now.

dip the bullet in pig blood.
