Why the sudden and hysterical terror alerts causing shutdown of U.S. Embassies in the Middle East and worldwide concern?
This may be the reason, via ABC News:
The senior U.S. official said there is concern about devices that could be implanted inside the body of a terrorist.
“We are concerned about surgically implanted devices,” they said. “These are guys who have developed the techniques to defeat our detection methods.”
The official also said authorities were stunned that the group broke “operational security” — meaning they talked likely knowing it would be picked up by intercepts.
This would be consistent with prior reports of this method of attack:
The one aspect of the intelligence that officials appear to agree on is that Al Qaeda’s affiliate in Yemen is behind the plotting.
The group, Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, has tried to carry out several high-profile attacks in recent years. One was a man’s attempt to blow up a trans-Atlantic jet over Detroit on Dec. 25, 2009, using explosives sewn into his underwear. Months earlier, the group tried to kill the Saudi intelligence chief with a bomb surgically implanted in the attacker’s body.
American officials believe that both bombs were built by Ibrahim al-Asiri, one of the group’s leaders whom the Obama administration has been trying to kill as part of a campaign in Yemen using armed drones.
How serious are they? This serious:
The [2008] plan was engineered by AQAP’s ingenious chief bomb-maker Ibrahim al Asiri, who planted a bomb inside the rectum of his own brother. The operative gained an audience with the Saudi prince by pretending to defect and duly set off the bomb. But Nayef survived the attack.
A recent attack in Afghanistan used this method:
Afghanistan’s spy chief, Asadullah Khalid, was taking no chances.
A man had crossed into Afghanistan from Pakistan with important information he said he would only deliver personally to Mr. Khalid, who had just taken over as the head of the National Directorate of Security.
Mr. Khalid’s aides took the visitor to an armored room in the basement of a safe house in Taimani, an upscale neighborhood in the capital city, for a security screening. They were no doubt mindful of what happened in September 2011 when a Taliban peace emissary was allowed to meet with a prominent Afghan peace envoy and then killed him with a bomb hidden in his turban.
Watching the man over closed-circuit television, they ordered him to strip naked, which he did. Satisfied, they let him get dressed and took him to see their boss upstairs.
Then he blew up. The suicide bomber killed only himself, but Mr. Khalid sustained severe abdominal wounds as well as injuries to his hands and arms.
Now, months after that attack, on Dec. 6, a spokesman for the National Directorate of Security, Shafiqullah Tahiri, confirmed that the attacker had hidden the bomb inside his rectum.

Yes, Islam itself sucks. There are good and decent muslim people and I don’t attribute any of the goodness of these people to Islam at all but rather to the individuals good character.
If a person values truth, how can he/she say Islam is good? Certainly, since 9/11 we all have witnessed violence perpetrated by muslims seeking islamic martyrdom ie kill as many infidel as you can while killing yourself.
I don’t like our country importing muslim men who have contempt for women. Muslim people have had slaves in the US! Muslim men have honor-killed their female relatives all over the world including the US and that ghastly case in Canada where 3 people in one family killed at least 3 of their female relatives and put them in a car that was pushed into a body of water.
Once gay marriage is fully established, will polygamy be next? Islam says polygamy is ok and I don’t agree. It’s a bad deal for women.
I could go on & on about negative aspects of Islam… I don’t like politicians pretending that Islam is just another religion. A religion that says it is okay to kill people who don’t believe it is not just any other religion and it needs to be treated in a different manner.
Polygamy is often a very bad deal for men, too. The large extended families found in Islam are often riven with jealousies among wives that effects the children and which tends to mean boys may grow up without spending a lot of time with fathers who have found the key to peace is to spend very little time at home. The restrictions on contact with women outside one’s families mean most marriages are arranged – usually by a boy’s mother.
I don’t find it a coincidence that the misogyny of much of the Islamic world is a trait shared by the gangsta culture of American inner cities where so many boys spend little or no time with their fathers.
You contradict yourself, Catherine. If they are Muslims and they believe in Islam how can they be “good” and “decent” when “If a person values truth, how can he/she say Islam is good?”?
If they are “good” and “decent” then they must “value truth”; however, they say “Islam is good”. If they say “Islam is good” then they do not “value truth” and therefore cannot be “good” or “decent”.
In sum, you cannot separate the Muslim from what he believes cuz he is called “Muslim” because he believes in Islam.
Some muslims are muslims in name only. There are other muslims who don’t know that much about their faith and live secular lives. There are people who grew up in muslim countries who have rejected Islam in their lives but don’t want to tell their relatives. I’m concerned about muslims who have studied Islam in depth and who embrace it and think it is good. I’m concerned about holier than thou muslims who punish those who aren’t muslim enough and/or who want to kill non-muslims.
On the other and, we should be concerned about ALL Muslims. At some point, even the “secular” ones want to enter paradise, and they will kill you to get there. A Jewish guy in TX found that out the hard way when his years long Muslim “friend” stopped being a secularist party animal and cut the Jewish guy’s throat. The only time their being Muslim should be regarded as of no account is when they convert to Christianity. Jihad is to Islam as Passover is to Judaism and the Lord’s Supper is to Christianity, and we know that even secular Christians find their way to church at Christmas and Easter.
I have no problem with our government shutting down embassies while they consider how to make things safer for the people who work at the embassies and the people who are visiting embassies for normal reasons. Most of the countries are muslim countries where some portion of the citizens are jihadist or jihadist sympathizers. We do need to figure out how to protect ourselves from jihadists who are so desperate for 72 virgins that they will have bombs put in their rectum or surgically sown in elsewhere or merely wear an underwear bomb.
Could we please limit the people from those countries from visiting here for any reason? Why should they be able to come here and live here in relative safety while we can’t do the same in their countries?

I might if it was just the corrupt White House warning of this terror threat but I find it difficult to believe that other countries and even Interpol would be issuing the same warnings at the behest of Obama.
Surgically implanted?
There’s an old, by now, book out there (but it is still available at Amazon). Called: The Saturday Knife & Gun Club. You can call it a novel. But it’s basically a true story, written by a medical resident. Who went to NY Medical College. And, served at both Metropolitan Hospital, and Flower & Fifth Avenue. Metropolitan is a 1000 bed Manhattan facility, on the East River, in Harlem. It’s the sister hospital to Harlem Hospital. And, I suppose, Bellevue.
Among the stories is one told about a homosexual gentleman, who walked into the emergency room (have stood all the way inside the ambulance.) He couldn’t sit down. Because his lover got angry. And, shoved a dildo all the way up his behind, where it took a “turn.” And, none of the doctors could remove it. (Besides the X-Ray of this device, “inside,” a resident from OB/GYN was called. He could feel it, but could get it out.)
Do you know how this problem was solved? He was admitted. And, given medication that “moved” his bowels to give it out. And, the next day he was “relieved.” And, able to be discharged.
Of course, after trying underwear, and shoes, why wouldn’t the al-kay-duh guys think of a rear end insert? The same way they can open up a woman’s belly, and stuff in explosives … where she tries to pass herself off as pregnant. Hey, maybe even in labor?

Every emergency room seems to have a similar story of some amazingly large item that was inserted via the rectum.
In our suspicions of the motives of this administration let us not lose sight of the fact that a new generation of terrorist want to make a name for themselves. It does concern me that this might actually be an effective way to place a significant amount of a high explosive near a key structural component of a building, which is exactly what Al Qaeda has been known to do. I suspect the large intestine could hold a considerable amount of plastic explosive encased in some sort of membrane. Then drugs like imodium could be taken to slow the body’s process of ejecting such materials. I am not sure how such a device might be detonated, but a human bomb with some knowledge of crucial building loads is not something to take lightly. Especially not from a group that actually did recruit people to train as pilots so they could crash jetliners into buildings full of people.
These people create only death and destruction but their membership includes people with knowledge of construction, engineering and medicine. Nor do they have scruples about poisoning people, perforating bowels or blowing people up in an attempt to refine a new bombing technique.

There’s a limit to the SIZE of something somebody can shove up a rectum. Maybe 2″ diameter x 10″? Naturally, this does not hold true for some people … like Chuck Schumer. But let’s not digress.
So how much plastic explosive can you shove up a butt? Enough to kill yourself and a few people standing close by … but no more. You certainly can’t take down a building. Maybe an airliner, though.
I think if this happens, it will be for shock value and scare value. And anticipate TSA adding proctologists to the airport regimen. Al Qaeda wants to disrupt our procedures and make life miserable in the US and cause us to incur additional economic cost … and this would do it.

This type of bomb has been used a number of times already, but as an assassination tool rather than a mass kill device. You can only get so much explosive and shrapnel into a human body and expect it to remain mobile enough to access the target. A bomb is a bomb, but these would be pretty small devices. That said, it doesn’t take much to bring down an airplane.
Terror? Which is more terrifying – A jihadist with a bomb in his belly or a lying administration married to an accomplice media with the result that it’s impossible to know what to believe?

Quite frankly, as a surgeon I am very surprised that implanting suicide bombs into wannabe jihad martyrs hasn’t become widespread. The operation to put such a device into the abdomen is almost trivial — and could easily be done without general anesthesia.
And, of course, Ayman al-Zawahiri, one of bin laden’s close associates, was allegedly a surgeon.
The hardest thing to do would be to construct the device — and since the islamic boys are quite good at making remote controlled IED’s (all for Allah’s glory, of course), it would not be all that hard a task. The biggest challenge would be to sterilize it before implanting it into the aspiring martyr’s abdomen.
Setting it off on a plane would certainly accomplish the desired objective, but they really wouldn’t even have to do that — having some jihad boys explode in a TCA line at two or three airports would wreck havoc on the nation’s air transportation.
There was the 2 Iraqui & Pakistani jihadi docs in Britain who did not have time or skill . So they drove an SUV into an airport building.
Because doctors in those societies are often concentrated in select families – all their relatives were dragged out of hospitals & imprisoned for questioning.
