The White House released more than 100 pages of e-mails on Wednesday in a bid to quell critics who say President Barack Obama and his aides played politics with national security following the deadly attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya.
The exchanges detailing discussions between top Obama administration officials from multiple agencies suggest the CIA took the lead in developing talking points to describe the attack last September 11 that killed Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans.

Updates (WAJ): The prior reporting by Stephen Hayes and Jonathan Karl is vindicated, and the one-day claim that this whole controversy was based on “doctored” emails is revealed to be wrong.

David – it is very necessary to be accurate in these things . 2 dead & several injured in a ‘consulate’ therefore under the SoS.
2 dead in a unacknowledged compound. X injured. No one has claimed ownership of Donaghue & Woods.
I note this because earlier on Hillary ‘s people said – dead & injured were security doing their jobs . ut we know that is not true for all .
These are all way late in the process, too late to reveal much: in all these examples they have already decided to blame it on a “spontaneous” mimicking of Cairo (and we know Cairo was not spontaneous).
dmacleo points out, on Page 14, from the General Counsel: ” “….conflicts with instructions from NSS/DOJ/FBI…..[ W]e are not to generate statements with assessments as to who did this etc, even internally, not to mention for public release.” But the obsfuscating paragraph about spontaneous eruption is already there.
Mention of teleconferences and F2F meetings perks up my ears: those are where the real cover up was done. Did anyone request release of the notes or transcripts from those meetings – the unmentioned ones that happened for 3 days before this email chain started, as well as the ones mentioned in email (pg 59, pg 58 etc).

The State Department’s greasy fingers are all over this. The talking points went from knowing it was a terrorist attack to believing it was a spontaneous demonstration. State was very worried that the truth would make it appear they’d dropped the ball.
And this isn’t in the mainstream media because…?

Obama knows nothing. Everything happens to him while he’s busy having dinner, going to fund raisers, and playing golf.

Can anyone tell me why on page 59 of the e-mails, info is being fed to Eric Schmitt of the NYT who exposed Gen. Patreus’ affair in the Times article Nov.10,2012 and also fed to Dem. Rep.Ruppersberger heading the Itelligence Committee who also outed Patreus and demanded to know if he leaked secrets to Broadwell in an article in the Capitalgazette Nov. 14,2012.There are also so many google articles on these guys connected to talking points that I feel like putting a tinfoil hat on.But why are they getting info about these e-mails…this is very intimadating for Patreus if he’s put in this compromising position..look at the tlmeline and it’s even more compelling.
