Put the 844-page Immigration Bill on ICE for a while

Put the 844-page Immigration Bill on ICE for a while

And the reason we need “immigration reform” urgently is?

I’m getting very uncomfortable with the rush to vote on an 844-page bill.

Let it hang out in the air for a while.

If it doesn’t stink, the fresh air and sunshine won’t hurt it.

If it does stink, the fresh air and sunshine will do it good.

Ted Cruz is asking hard questions and challenging assumptions, and is being demonized for it. That tells me much of what I need to know.

Chuck Schumer is clucking like he’s the King Rooster. That tells me the rest of what I need to know.

Update 4-23-2013: From Politico, you see why Schumer is clucking, Immigration reform could be bonanza for Dems:

The immigration proposal pending in Congress would transform the nation’s  political landscape for a generation or more — pumping as many as 11 million new  Hispanic voters into the electorate a decade from now in ways that, if current  trends hold, would produce an electoral bonanza for Democrats and cripple  Republican prospects in many states they now win easily.

Remember, we are not talking about 11 million new voters who are here legally; if organic electoral growth were at issue, that would be entirely legitimate.  But we are talking about giving a bonanza of currently illegal voters to the Democrats through immigration “reform” and a pathway to citizenship for people who broke our laws to get here.

Senator Cruz is the anti-Obama … no, the antidote TO Obama. Cruz is rational. Sane. His recent remarks re: immigration were — for me — remarkable! Inspiring!

Why politicize the issue of immigration? There are huge real life consequences for so many residing in the US … born, legal and illegal … at stake.

I think he’s the real deal. Check it out:

All good points, but the last one really is all you need to know. Even if RINO Rubio isn’t a complete sell out here, an honest but naive dupe, what does that say about the man’s judgment? I believe it’s the former, but either way he is almost as revolting a figure to me as snake oil Schumer.

He’s allowed himself to become Schumer’s Useful Idiot.

We can be thankful that this little exercise of Rubio’s in pimping for the open-borders’ lobby has revealed his true colors. His passionate concern is for the 11million illegal aliens living in the shadows (because they stole across the border, ya think?); while he holds in callous regard our national sovereignty, the rule of law, and the millions of poor Joe’s in America whose wages are driven into the ground by FOREIGN COMPETITION.

If I never see Rubio’s lying face again, it will be too soon.

I think Grahamnesty and McRINO suckered him in. But I also think he allowed himself to be suckered in for political reasons.

Those two clowns couldn’t get amnesty passed with a Republican president in 2007. They knew that with their names closely attached to an amnesty deal under Obama it was dead in the water. So they brought Rubio in to “lead” – and by lead I mean to take all the fire from conservatives and betray the conservative base who got him elected. That’s what Republicans do. They take conservative support for granted. As always, the consultants who have helped us lose the popular vote in 5 of the last 6 presidential elections are whispering in Rubio’s ear telling him that he has to soften his conservative edges to be a viable presidential candidate. This amnesty deal is a way to demonstrate he can moderate his conservatism, sell out the base and his principles, and work with egomaniacs like Schumer.

Any immigration bill which does not address displacement of Americans; which does not address the causes of excessive legal immigration; and which does not, in particular, address the causes of illegal immigration, cannot be considered to be offered in good faith.

This is the same nonsense as Obama’s “affordable” health care initiative, which did address increasing revenue, but did not address supply to meet demand or the progressive inflation which ensures that health care will remain unaffordable.

This is the same nonsense as Obama’s gun control initiative, which was purportedly offered for “the children”, but does not address the leading cause of childhood mortality in America: elective abortion, or the women, and men, who cannot be bothered to accept responsibility for the potential but predictable outcome of their voluntary behavior.

The same nonsense which does not address the minority actors, both public and private, who commit acts of involuntary exploitation and are not constrained by proscriptive laws. It doesn’t even address the three leading causes of death where a gun is used to abort a life: government agents run amuck, criminals ignoring the law, and individual suicides.

I am growing weary of activism through symbolism, especially when it is backed with coercion by a recognized authority. The government needs to get its house in order. The corruption is progressive and they seem intent to move forward to a dysfunctional convergence.

Schumer reminds me of Foghorn Leghorn.

I can’t believe that the Black community thinks that importing millions of additional low-wage workers to the US will make the Black community a better place.

Oh, I say and I say it again, ya been had! Ya been took! Ya been hoodwinked! Bamboozled! Led astray! Run amok!

Yes, those data points indicate this is another full-of-fail bill.

Rubio really horribly miscalculated.

I can’t help feel he was seduced by the promise of a coronation from McCain and Graham — with a touch of ‘I won’t attack you’ promise from Schumer.

How could he have been so weak? (I guess the question answers itself.)

So much for Marco. As in Genesis, Rubio now bears the ‘mark of McCain.’

    HarrietHT in reply to TheFineReport.com. | April 23, 2013 at 2:12 am

I think Rubio’s mistake — apart from an obvious lack of principle: he flatly rejected any type of amnesty when he ran for the Senate in 2010 — was coming into the orb of one of the most reprehensible politicians on the planet: John McCain. We know John’s tactics well, as told to us by Tom Tancredo during the 2007 CIR effort. When during an elevator ride TT told McCain he could not vote for the CIR, McCain threw a royal hissy fit, employing his vast knowledge of foul language. Rubio hasn’t the courage, much less the principle, to stand up against such intimidation. Rubio is no Tom Tancredo. And we are the sorrier for it.

I think you’re right — and worse, I think he was seduced by those sleazeballs, who pained delusions of grandeur about how his role in this legislation would be perceived by the right.

Rubio babbled on when he was on Rush Limbaugh’s show, trying to sell the legislation, and came off as ridiculous. Limbaugh struggled to find something positive to say about Rubio after Rubio left the air, but the negativity he felt about what just happened came right through.

Agreed that there is no need to rush this legislation. Full hearings and full debate will only air out the dirty laundry and the political pork that is surely hidden in this bill. That said, we need to pass immigration reform. The current system is serving no one well.
No one should be objecting to increased legal immigration, especially for skilled immigrants; more skilled workers will improve the economy. Further, a good immigration bill can be crafted to increase security, by simultaneously providing incentives to make use of the legal means available to immigrate while simultaneously subjecting the legal immigrants to background checks that are bypassed when they immigrate illegally.

Heck, why do we need new legislation at all, when the Feds won’t even enforce existing law? That’s my beef with the whole process. STOP MAKING NEW LAWS UNTIL YOU START ENFORCING THE CURRENT LAW.

It ain’t about enforcing the law. It’s about flooding the nation with ignorant, poor voters who will vote themselves benefits, enslave working people by taxation and keep the left in power forever.

MaggotAtBroadAndWall in reply to Paul. | April 23, 2013 at 9:48 am

Not a single person here illegally – whether they walked across the border, were smuggled by coyotes, or over-stayed their visa – ever believed they’d become a U.S. citizen for breaking our laws. The illegals WANTED AND INTENDED to live “in the shadows”. Let them. Or let them go home.

TrooperJohnSmith | April 23, 2013 at 4:45 am

My personal Litmus Test: If Chuckie Schumer LIKES IT, I’m against it. Period.

Lady Penguin | April 23, 2013 at 6:08 am

The behavior by these senators confirms that the entire legislative process is corrupted, and they themselves are. Not only are they trying to scam the American people, but the abomination that this bill is shows the total lack of respect for the rule of law, the rights of American citizens, and the well-being of the country. They’ve ignored the enforcing of current border laws, why would this be any different?

As far as Rubio goes, not only has he been seduced but he has also been taken over by the scum members of this so-called gang of 8. It’s frightening to see how Congress really legislates, and how corrupt the government is. These people function without a conscience…

If this abomination of a bill passes, I’m afraid the GOP can consign themselves to a few decades in the wilderness. The base, which is the only group that actually has at its core, the wonderful, traditional vision for America and respect for the Rule of Law, and the Constitution – will simply stay home the next couple of election cycles. Really, it’s a simple question we’ll all be asking ourselves…”what difference does it make?” re: Dem or GOP? No difference. The harms already been done.

Let’s try something really, really unheard of; read the actual law before it is voted on. If all of us ask our Senators for a copy of the law what do you bet that they cannot produce the actual law. I am in Floriduh so I’ll contact our junior Senator’s office to see if they can produce it. He does seem to have some knowledge of what is in it. Or has the Senate adopted the Pelosi rule?

“We have to pass the (health care 844 page) bill so you can find out what is in it”.

I call BS on those making excuses for Rubio–duped, suckered, seduced–mistake, miscalculation….whatever.

Sounds like the left making excuses for Obama.

Not even possible this is who he is, is it? No, he’s too smart to be that stupid. Yea, he’s dumb enough to get snookered by Schumer, but he’s really a smart guy, and should be President.

11 million* illegals forced to live in the shadows

Millions of gays forced to live in the shadows

Women forced to have abortions in the shadows

When you start using the same language as progressives, you’ve lost me. Forever.

Rubio’s press secretary says-

“We haven’t had a cohort of people permanently living in the US without full rights of citizenship since slavery”

Rubio’s Chief of Staff:

“This legislation will create millions of new taxpayers, allow companies to continue to grow in the US, and make it easier for entrepreneurs and job-creators to immigrate to the U.S.”

Goes to war with Heritage Foundation over static vs dynamic scoring, an accounting trick the libs use-

*11 million is a bogus number, but that’s a different rant. Any politician that uses it is either ignorant or purposely deceitful

Henry Hawkins | April 23, 2013 at 10:29 am

If you’re posing a bill and you look to your left and Democrats are cheering you on, you *might* want to review what you’re doing.

Has Rubio turned into spineless DC clay so soon? Must be some kind of record.
