Former Republican North Carolina State Senator David Rouzer, who narrowly lost to Mike McIntyre (D-NC) after a recount in 2012, has announced he will run again in 2014. Rouzer lost by just 654 votes in a race where 337,000 ballots were cast.
McIntyre, who has been a congressman for 16 years, is part of the DCCC’s program to protect Democrat incumbents called Frontline, and according to Ballotpedia, was named one of the top 10 most vulnerable incumbents in 2014 in a March 2012 Roll Call article. The NC-7 race has also been targeted by the NRCC as one of their 7 priorities in 2014 congressional elections.
