Senior Iranian General killed in Syria/Lebanon by ???

Another one of those things that makes you go hmmm…

At first it was attributed to anti-Assad forces.  And supposedly took place just a couple of days ago.

This was no ordinary General, via Ynet:

The London-based Arabic newspaper Asharq al-Awsat reported Friday that Hush Husam Nawis, also known as Hassan Shateri, a senior Revolutionary Guard official who was killed in Syria on Thursday, was in fact named Hassan Shateri, while Nawis served as his alias.

Shateri was a general in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and headed the Iranian operation to rehabilitate the war-scarred country. He reportedly also served as Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s personal emissary to Lebanon.

But now the claim is being made that the Iranian General was killed in the mysterious Israeli air strike a couple of weeks ago, via UPI:

Mystery still swirls around the assassination of a top Iranian general in  war-torn Syria but details are emerging that suggest he was a key figure in  Tehran’s campaign to save its beleaguered ally, President Bashar Assad, and in  running Hezbollah.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps initially reported that Brig. Gen.  Hassan Shateri, 58, one of its commanders, was killed Tuesday in a rebel ambush  in Syria near the Lebanese border as he drove to Beirut.

Later reports say he and two aides were killed Monday near Zabadani, a border  town where Hezbollah has a major base and arms depot.

But the Free Syrian Army, one of the main rebel forces battling to topple  Assad’s minority Alawite regime, claimed Thursday that Shateri, along with  several aides, was killed in Israel’s Jan. 30 airstrike on Jamraya, near  Zabadani.

There were unconfirmed reports at the time that there had been Iranian casualties in the air raid but FSA officials said the death of Shateri and his  officers weren’t disclosed at the time because to have done so would have had  “consequences.”

After a period of relative silence, the Iranians are explicitly blaming Israel, via Tehran Times:

An Iranian general has been killed by elements affiliated with the Zionist regime while traveling from Syria to Lebanon, the head of the public relations department of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps announced on Thursday.

“Brigadier General Hassan Shateri was martyred on his way from Damascus to Beirut by mercenaries and individuals backed by the Zionist regime,” Brigadier General Ramezan Sharif said.

Two questions:

1. On what date was he killed?
2. Where was George W. Bush?

I heard the weapon that was used was purchased in Phoenix, AZ a couple of years ago by a fellow named Tom E. Gunn, who went off the Mexico soon after.

Sounds like the Iranian regime is just trying to leverage a lil’ propaganda value out of their room-temp general.

Sort of a variation on beating a dead horse…

Dead Iranian Quds Force generals are a good thing, regardless of who did the honors.

‘Zionist regime.’ Translation: Them dang Jews kicked our mohammedan butts again!

A side note, Perfessor. GMTA. I just posted TDN’s version of ‘Try a Little Tenderness’ at my place.

Possibly, the General was part of the convoy of Islamists moving the infamous stash of chemical weapons that Israel smited forthwith.

It’s Iran. News, rumor, disinformation. To them, it’s all the same.

It’s Iran The White House. News, rumor, disinformation. To them, it’s all the same.

Here, I fixt it for you. 😆

I was checking around and it seems that Hassan Shateri was some sort of amateur archeologist … it seems that every where he went there were “ruins”

Perfect name for it, eh?
Hush (Husam Nawis)

So somebody somewhere might have died? That’s always good to know. And does anyone else besides me see a hint of the true Iranian force strength if one of their guys admittedly uses various names?

Great – now if we can kill about 1000 of his comrades, Iran might be relatively free again.

Remember how the Shah was rebuked for his repression of “democracy”? But it was really the islamists he was after. Now the world should have a better understanding of why.

The road to world peace is paved with the bones of dead mullahs.

Hush Husam Nawis, also known as Hassan Shateri

Did you ever notice that all of these folks have multiple names, just like a Ponzi scheme operator or an EPA administrator.

I bet all of his friends knew him as “Hassi with the gimp”

Bad hummus, and a Hellfire missile, but mostly a Hellfire missile.

Stolen from Ace, but I find it never gets old.

I thought I read a while ago he was there commanding the Basij-

…Brought over from Iran to stamp out the “rebellion” early on, using torture of children, as Assad didn’t trust his guys had the stomach for it.

If that is the case, it could be an inside job just as much as an Israeli operation.

But, I’ll still go with the Israeli operation.

It was a drone launched by virgins from Islamic heaven who found the general very sexy indeed.

Who cares how he was killed. He was in a place he wasn’t supposed to be. This change of venue is just another piece of propaganda to blame the Jews. Funny, how these false propagandas backfire. I remember Russia showing their citizens in the Rodney King rioting and the lesson the citizens learned was “everyone wore jeans?” and “they have TVs in stores?”. Another time Russia told their citizens the elderly in America will have to eat cat food and the citizens only learned “there is a special food for cats in America?”. Let’s hope this propaganda is misdirected also. Nah!! The left has allied itself with the islamists and have taken on the Jews as their enemies because they are the islamists’ enemies. There is no other explanation for the sheer blindness of the left in regard to America’s enemies. But then the left has a history of allying itself with America’s enemies. Remember Ted Kennedy offering to sell this country down the river in order to defeat Reagan in the presidential election.

It could have been the Arabs. They are in competition with the Persians, and are active with the “rebel” groups in Syria/Lebanon.

It could have been Obama or at least a gun supplied by Obama to arm terrorists… I mean “rebels”. It’s always the least transparent individuals who are guilty of the crimes.
