Republican spelunkers for comprehensive immigration reform

Republican spelunkers for comprehensive immigration reform

Illegal is the new legal, but way cooler and more hip

They’re going to cave.

You know it, it’s just a matter of when.

Via Washington Free Beacon, McCain: Immigration Bill ‘Not That Much Different’ from 2007:

Sen. John McCain (R., Ariz.) said Sunday a group of bipartisan senators will propose a comprehensive immigration bill in the next week “not much different” from the failed effort of 2007.

“What’s changed is, honestly, there is a new appreciation on both sides of the aisle– including maybe more importantly on the Republican side of the aisle–that we have to enact a comprehensive immigration bill,” McCain said in an interview with “This Week

It would be nice if McCain would take a hint from the recent Tom Harkin action and just quit.

It would also be nice if McCain had learned from the last effort that enforcement is critical. He seems to have neglected that again.

Interesting that it’s “a group of bipartisan senators,” not a “bipartisan group of senators.”

That’s the problem with so many so-called Republicans, isn’t it? Too many of them are actually bipartisan.

Gosh, maybe liberals will like us now.

We were supposed to get a fence built.
This is the sort of nonsense that made the GOP lose the House and the Senate in 2006.

Idiots. Every single one of them.

Why the hell is this even a priority? Because Barry says so?!!?

I work with many LEGAL immigrants, I cannot begin to tell you how pissed they are that they followed all the rules etc, and now illegals will be rewarded when they broke the law. And you know what, I am sick and tired of this “oh its not their fault” kids of illegals, WTF?! I don’t blame the parents, of course they want a better life for their kids. But this ain’t some third world $hithole country, rules matter, laws still matter, at least for now.

I wasn’t following the 2007 immigration much except now I look back and realize how the game is played. They hide giving amnesty under the guise of saying, yes we should have more immigration, they don’t say amnesty, but that is what is. And if you oppose it, then guess what? they bring up the topic of LEGAL immigrants like Sergey Brin (co founder of Google), etc to say, hey if you oppose this immigration bill, then you’re opposing allowing productive immigrants into this country, and oh yea, I’m going to say it, not all immigration, illegal or legal are productive, many are just leeches, wanting to live off the public dole.

I favor LEGAL immigration, I oppose ILLEGAL immigration. The lefties say, oh yes, this problem has been building up for a while, well duh! of course it has, reagan granted amnesty, people kept flooding in, because they knew at some point, the drumbeat of “problem has to be solved” will reach a culmination point and then everyone since Reagan will be granted amnesty, and then the cycle will begin again!

You nailed it. Perfectly. Out here in the real world, where identity politics doesn’t really matter to the everyday survival and betterment of people, the LEGAL immigrants are stinging from the repeated face slapping they’ve gotten from OBEYING THE LAW.

Why do we need “immigration reform”? All we need to do is follow the 1986 Immigration Reform Law to the letter, and the problem is solved.

But no… we want to be liked, instead. I mean, does ANYONE think these instant citizens will vote for anything but freebies? Since most seem to be from Mexico, one only needs to look at how socialist that country is for the answer.

Sadly, America is the safety-valve from Mexico’s uncompleted revolution of 1913. And now, PRI is back in charge, so it won’t get better anytime, soon.

Mexico owes the US big time. Maybe it will be they who will send Barry troops to fire on his own people if the need arises. Maybe it will be these new grateful citizens who will constitute his new “civilian security force” to which he alluded in July of 2008.

Who know anything for certain any more? Ahead lays uncharted waters for all of us…

Yep. And as a former lefty, I will also add, I work with many LEGALLY immigrated hispanics, they are pissed that they get lumped in with anything to do with ILLEGAL immigrants.

Not all hispanic immigrants are illegals, many are, but illegals come in all races, from anywhere in the world.

If the law is averted once, it will be again. And illegals know this. Frankly, I do feel bad for them, and understand why they want to sneak into this country for a better chance at life for their kids.

But what about America’s kids, black, white, hispanic, asian, etc?!? Legal residents and americans citizens come first! And there is nothing racist about that.

You folks don’t get it. 4 more years of Barry & these idiots & we’ll be illegals into Canada, Mexico, hell even reverse boat people to Cuba.

A nation that does not control its borders probably will not survive. Period.

The USA’s situation is doubly damning because we have the capability and refuse to use it. We’re not victims of history; the political class we elect is wrecking the country because it’s convenient. We deserve to go down.

(I’m writing this bleak assessment in the hope that we will somehow, some way recover our sanity, but I don’t see how.)

TrooperJohnSmith in reply to gs. | January 27, 2013 at 12:20 pm

This is not lost on Mexico. It was they who couldn’t control the border between Coahuila-Texas and the United States that caused the first domino, Texas, to topple in 1836. Then, when the US joined Texas in 1845, the continued border provocations by Mexico caused the Mexican War, which lost them the rest of what is now the southwest US.

Yeah, Mexico knows the importance of borders. That’s why their illegal immigration laws are so draconian.

Way to go… Alienate the Republican base even more than it is presently. Every poll shows the American public wants enforcement first.

Consider me one of the alienated..

Consider me alienated as well. And I’m not a republican, but a former democrat turned independent.

Instead of working on debt, they work on this $hit. Next will be cap and trade no doubt.

Idiots, every single one of them, including Mccain, I can understand now why conservatives didn’t like him.

And does Rubio seriously think adding more illegals to the legal line is going to make them conservatives, this cycle will just continue giving statist socialist democrats a permanent majority.

and Dear republican party , if you are reading this, seriously, are you this freaking out of touch???? there is not a single poll out there where anywhere near close to a majority of people put immigration at the top of the list of their concerns,

republicans really are the stupid party, and Mccain is an idiot, seriously, didn’t he learn from 2008? lefty trash like the NYT like “mavericks” like Mccain, until he is in their way, then they trash him, and yet Mccain goes grovelling to the Obot Butt kissing MSM for their approval.

The MSM and the Barry admin are one, there is no distinction.

David Yotham in reply to GrumpyOne. | January 27, 2013 at 5:21 pm

All John McCain really needs is a nice stroke – that would stop the ‘stupid’ from falling out of his pie hole!

RINOs are an abomination leading good folks to an Obama-nation.

Millions more Illegals on the dole and Obamacare costing billions more dollars. That’ll help accelerate Cloward-Piven socialism, both the bankrupting of America and the class warfare.

Our last immigration law was NOT comprehensive, and that’s one big reason why we have so very many people here illegally.

They left out the guest worker program. If they would simply acknowledge the reality that some people want to come here just to work and then go home, our laws would make so much more sense, and people would be able to comply with them.

We’ve had a guest worker program, before. It worked.

Ya gotta give the Bushes, younger & elder one thing. Now that they’re out, they pretty much stay home & keep their mouth shut!

I, for one, wish the younger Bush WOULD come out and speak. I’m disappointed he sits at home and takes all the abuse. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting him at a few Wounded Warrior events and my oh my, no nicer man on the planet. He’s gotten a bum rap for many of his doings (okay, some of his decisions weren’t the best) but he could add his two cents every now and then. He doesn’t have to be blabbermouth like Bill Clinton but being invisible isn’t optimal either.

In times past all the yammering & whining Barry has done would have been seen for what it is. In a low class culture it is senseless to give fodder to fools. The fools will take anything G. W. says & skew it to Barry & their advantage. Including some of “our side.” Hell alot of stupid people are still convinced Bush is more responsible for where we now are than Barry!

Reagan was wrong to grant amnesty in the 80’s, and it is wrong now. Granting amnesty to illegals is a total cave on principles.

Everybody says we cannot deport 30M people. Wanna try? How about a bounty on turning them in with no bag limit. Pat Buchanan is 100% correct in his ‘Suicide of a Superpower’ book. Americans are too friggin’ stupid to understand what all this means.

Alright, that’s it!

I don’t care what happened to McCain in Vietnam.
I don’t care how much he suffered.
I don’t care how much he persevered.
I don’t care how big a war hero he is.

I want this man to shut the f- up and go away, NOW!
I wouldn’t necessarily begrudge him if he just hung around Congress but that’s not an option with this guy!
He simply can not keep that f-—g trap of his shut!
He revels in telling his own side how dumb it is for not agreeing with him and prefers to do so on camera as often as possible!

He goes on shows, they lob bait and treats at him, and he bites every time. He loves it when people nod as he talks and will say whatever it takes to make that happen. Then, when his side asks him “What the hell was that, John?” he gets pissy and digs in even deeper! ‘Cause he’s John McCain, dammit! Don’t you know what he went through? He’s a war hero! Nobody second guesses John McCain, you hear? Nobody!

Right, John. You finished at the bottom of your Annapolis class, and probably only survived to graduate because of your four-star father and grandfather.
You are an egotistical jackass who has been in office too long and are now less than useless.

Henry Hawkins | January 27, 2013 at 4:20 pm

We are approaching the point where the US will have ceased to be a nation of laws. Soon after we hit that point, we will cease to be a nation.

David Yotham in reply to Henry Hawkins. | January 27, 2013 at 5:28 pm

Oh no, the Obama Administration is going to give us PLENTY of laws! Lot’s of laws! Laws most Americans won’t even know about until they’re broken.

After the Laws comes the Order – everything in it’s proper place. The law abiding in one place, the lawless in another.

Cowards.

Importing failure, in the form of surplus Latin American population, is not a recipe for success.

All illegal aliens/invaders should be returned to their country of origin. If they sneak in again, they should be returned to a point 1000 feet above their country of origin, with 1000 feet added for each subsequent offense.

Henry Hawkins | January 27, 2013 at 6:41 pm

Hey, once the GOP wins the love of illegal immigrants and libs too, their combined gratitude might be just enough to push McCain over the top as the GOP 2016 prez nom. He’s got experience!

[…] McCain is up to his ears in amnesty again, just as he went along with all sorts of other major Democrat legislation.  And just like with every other Democrat vehicle, his presence indicates only that it’s another bad liberal idea.  They’ll provide all of the substance like they did in the Kennedy amnesty bill, the Feingold 1st amendment rights violation, and anything else where McCain can get some press out of it.  Legislatively speaking though, the Democrats are the engine and steering, and McCain is the hula girl ornament bobbling about on the dashboard, only angrier and more chipmunk-shaped.  He may be the first thing you notice because of his name on the bill and the unwarranted press but his presence is otherwise decorative. […]

They cannot cave until they close the borders thereby strictly limiting unmeasured immigration; resolve displacement of American men, women, and children at work, school, and throughout society; address the cause(s) which motivate around one million people to illegally enter this nation every year.

Obama doesn’t care. That’s a given. The Republicans should care. Reagan cared about the proliferation of left-wing regimes throughout the world, and the suffocation of individual rights which they engendered. We should start caring with our neighbors.

We need immigration control. It will provided effective gun control for people who do not respect our laws. It will provide effective gun control for cartels armed by our federal government. It will serve as effective mitigation to control progressive corruption of individuals, institutions, and agencies.

Here is his campaign ad where he opines on completing the danged fence
