Univision report on Operation Fast and Furious

Univision report on Operation Fast and Furious

First some background provided by ABC News:

On January 30, 2010, a commando of at least 20 hit men parked themselves outside a birthday party of high school and college students in Villas de Salvarcar, Ciudad Juarez. Near midnight, the assassins, later identified as hired guns for the Mexican cartel La Linea, broke into a one-story house and opened fire on a gathering of nearly 60 teenagers. Outside, lookouts gunned down a screaming neighbor and several students who had managed to escape. Fourteen young men and women were killed, and 12 more were wounded before the hit men finally fled.

Indirectly, the United States government played a role in the massacre by supplying some of the firearms used by the cartel murderers. Three of the high caliber weapons fired that night in Villas de Salvarcar were linked to a gun tracing operation run by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), according to a Mexican army document obtained exclusively by Univision News.

Univision News identified a total of 57 more previously unreported firearms that were bought by straw purchasers monitored by ATF during Operation Fast and Furious, and then recovered in Mexico in sites related to murders, kidnappings, and at least one other massacre.

As part of Operation Fast and Furious, ATF allowed 1,961 guns to “walk” out of the U.S. in an effort to identify the high profile cartel leaders who received them. The agency eventually lost track of the weapons, and they often ended up in the hands of Mexican hit men….

In 2009, the northern Mexican states served as a battlefield for the Sinaloa and Juarez drug trafficking organizations, and as expansion territory for the increasingly powerful Zetas. According to documents obtained by Univision News, from October of that year to the end of 2010, nearly 175 weapons from Operation Fast and Furious inadvertently armed the various warring factions across northern Mexico….

Following the death of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry at the hands of Mexican bandits on December 14, 2010, media and Congressional investigations prompted hearings. On September 20, the U.S. Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General report, which opened the door for sanctions of 14 ATF and DOJ officials.

Not that there are any unbiased articles…….but the ABC bias is thick in spots.

As I read on Twitter earlier: ABC, NBC, CBS (etc.) watch Univision’s Fast & Furious report, learn how journalism is done! (paraphr. from some Tweeter…. 😉 )

Holder needs to go. To prison, that is.

    counsel4pay in reply to walls. | September 30, 2012 at 11:43 pm

Expect HIGHEST NUMBER OF PRESIDENTIAL PARDONS IN HISTORY BEFORE OBAMA LEAVES. However, the good news is that his depature will take place at the end of this first term.

Even just that 9 minute excerpt is brutal. If ours was a country like America, Holder would be going to federal prison for a long, long time. I can’t wait to see the report in its entirety.

The mystery is why ABC News posted the excerpt. This is exactly the sort of thing they work overtime to suppress. It is a game-changer if the American people only see it.

US MSM…”…nothing to see here, move along…”

Conservative Beaner | September 30, 2012 at 9:37 pm

Obama tells the audience at the Univision interview that Rapido y Furioso is Bush’s fault although it started in May 2009, after Obama is sworn into office.

Obama tells us all is well although Steve Boohers, and Air Force medic is murdered in Juarez. A groom is kidnapped in El Paso then murdered in Juarez. A party of teens is murdered for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Obama and Holder have some explaining to do and the corrupt MSM won’t do anything to make Obama look bad.

Well this may help us with Hispanics. Never thought I would say this, but good job Univision.

In other news PPP just released an Ohio Poll with 49-45 Obama lead. They sample Democrats at 1 pt less than in 2008 with a 5pt separation between them and the Republicans (41D/36R). Independents are at a record low in Ohio at only 18% of the sample (according to PPP). And Romney is winning independents by 1v

Another interesting note, they oversample women by 3% points (54/46), BUT they are the ones keeping it close, contrary to EVERY OTHER POLL OUT THERE. Obama is winning men by 6 points and ROMNEY!!! is losing women by two???! And contrary to every other poll released, Obama is winning men. They must have polled a lot of democrat males and republican women.

Hope and Change protect the -Gates of Obama. Calderon could have exposed the deception and consequences, but instead he was busy supporting the American Displacement Act (aka “Dream Act”) or Mexican Transference Act.

Univision ought to do a special devoted exclusively to comparing “Nation of Cowards” Eric Holder with Bush’s former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, the Harvard Law graduate (and first Hispanic to sit in such a high US office) who was hounded out of office by the crooks in the Democrat Party. Gonzales committed no crime, didn’t dismiss prosecutions in high profile voter intimidation cases, didn’t try to induce voter fraud by opposing voter ID laws, and I could go on and on. Holder isn’t qualified to carry Gonzales’ briefcase.

A tremendous amount of credit for this research must go to Mike Vanderbough and David Codrea at sipseystreetirregulars.blogspot.com. They have been following this since Day One.

Professor, you would like them….they are as thorough in their research as you are in yours!

In a rational world, a rabid press would crucify the government functionaries who committed this appalling crime.

huskers-for-palin | September 30, 2012 at 10:38 pm

Paging Brian Ross….Paging Brian Ross

A question:
Could this “intelligence scheme” be considered an Act of War? Sending arms into a friendly nation, with the express purpose that they will be used to commit murder and mayhem – Did the United States America government go to war with Mexico?

DINORightMarie in reply to David Yotham. | October 1, 2012 at 9:51 am

To answer your question, no. But the US is guilty of provoking war by arming known murderous criminals for political purposes.

If Mexico were a well-armed nation, or had alliances with some (as happened in Europe in WWI and WWII), this could be grounds for war to be declared on the US.

Sickening, isn’t it?! And I believe, given what I’ve read from sipseystreetirregulars.com who did much of the original, unsung research behind this debacle, Katie Pavlich who literally wrote the book on Fast and Furious, Michelle Malkin, and others, that Obama, Hillary, and Holder all knew about it, or authorized it with a “…don’t tell me! …don’t let me know the details – or I will be tied to it….just make it happen…” type of knowledge. All the president’s men – and women.

    Criminals. IMHO. Criminals all.

So Holder established a gun-running operation that resulted in the deaths of scores, if not hundreds, of Mexican nationals in Mexico, then engaged in obstruction of justice to cover up the facts of the operation. Did he get a cut of the drug money?

Democrats will be democrats…

We must promise, before extradition from Mexico back to the United States for capital offenses committed in this country, not to enforce the death penalty against Mexican nations who might be found guilty. Fortunately for Holder and 0bama, they should then not be receiving the death penalty for their part in the deaths of hundreds of innocent, and perhaps not innocent but not-yet-charged-and-convicted others. Wouldn’t that be something. Of course we would ship them to Mexico, after all the trouble we have getting them to send their criminals back here to stand trial.

Henry Hawkins | October 1, 2012 at 12:12 am

There is little new factually in the Univision report. It’s power comes from showing human victims, puddles of blood, even a cartel gangster standing over a proned out student while he blows two holes in his head. Fast & Furious has been fleshed out, and if the American people see this and it ISN’T a game-changer, I’m not sure I want to be an American anymore.

I can understand – not approve, but understand – how the media can be so biased on some issues because of their leftist ideology, issues like illegal immigration, abortion, etc., but to cover up for Obama & Holder over Fast & Furious is a purely evil act.

Somewhere in the liberal media artifice there must be at least one ‘journalist’ who is finding it hard to sleep at night over their complicity in covering this up, right? Just one even? Is there so much as one liberal journalist with a conscience anymore?

I’ve heard Jake Tapper’s name spoken with respect.

Henry Hawkins in reply to gs. | October 1, 2012 at 11:31 am

Tapper often earns respect, but usually for individual episodes of journalistic objectivity. Compared to the rest of his craft practitioners, he accordingly often looks like a star, but he’s only occasionally doing what they all ought to be doing all day every day.

“Tapper asked a tough question! Tapper asked a tough question!”

There is enough crap going on in DC for Tapper to be asking tough questions all day every day.

The only way this report will be made available to the public is if the RNC or a super PAC pays for ads on TV or in print media.
Pat Cadell is correct. See “huskers for Palin” above.

Who would have ever imagined that the ABC affiliate Univision would do a fairly indepth expose on Fast and Furious so close to the debates and the election.

Kevin O’Reilly continues to hide in Iraq, but it appears Issa is ready to now use his congressional powers to facilitate O’reilly’ testimony. He is the link to the top, and IMHO (I have been following F&F closely since the beginning), this whole sordid affair goes all the way to the top and I mean Hillary Clinton and barry obama. All in order to “pad the statistics” (from the whistle blowers, incriminating emails, press conferences and even democratic spin during the hearings) to further the lefts anti gun agenda.

If barry obama manages to get in for another term, F&F could very well bring down his whole second term especially with a Republican controlled House and Senate.

If Romney becomes POTUS, it will be very telling if he and Congress will pursue F&F to Just ends. Facilitating murder of innocent human beings is a crime that should never be cover up in order to protect the political hack culture in Washington. Exposing Fast and Furious would be a great start for President Romney to begin to correct the unbelievable degeneration of the Rule of Law and Moral Compass that has occured under obama the last 4 years. The stage is set for Romney to be a great President..You know we will all be watching closely….

Raquel Pinkbullet | October 1, 2012 at 12:33 am

Sadly, more and more of the electorate are some version of the woman from the infamous Obamaphone video, i.e, degenerated morons. Less than 50% of Los Angeles Unified School District students graduate from high school.

We are regressing as a nation intellectually, scholastically, and in terms of national character and it seems to be accelerating. I try, ordinarily, to not be overly pessimistic but the cultural Marxist crowd has won victory after victory, politically and culturally, at a pace that’s rapidly increased over the last 20 years.

Are the soft socialist “Obama gimme money” crowd going to be swayed to Romney’s side by the debates? Doubtful. Will the minority of halfway intelligent independents be won over to Romney? Maybe. The problem is that there are hardly any intelligent independents anymore while the slobbering moron vote has INCREASED exponentially.

Look at Ohio. Huge unemployment and economic stagnation for years, including the last four, and yet Obama leads or is at least tied in the polls. California’s unemployment rate is 14.6% and that’s the best it’s been in years and yet Obama will win California by a wide margin. NV leads the nation in foreclosures and unemployment is the highest in the nation, YET Obama leads here. We’re a Moron Nation now.

As a posted previously, as a Cuban American woman “racist” voting for Romney, I can’t seem to understand why this race is even close except to point out that 47% of the population is on the “government dole.” Why work when you can get section 8 housing and WIC?? I fear for America.

The quote from Alexander Fraser:

“A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.”

That is what we are up against. What happens when 50%+1 are on the government dole and not paying taxes?

End of the Republic?

Don’t stop with blaming the alphabet agencies, don’t stop with blaming the underlings in the Justice Department, don’t stop with blaming Eric Holder.

Only stop when you get to the man who swore upon the Holy Bible to protect and defend the Constitution of the Untied States from all enemies foreign and domestic…

And then proceeded to do exactly the opposite on the first day in office and every day thereafter.

Yes, I truly believe that this entire Fast & Furious debacle is ultimately Obama’s doing.

I believe that it was a scheme cooked up by Obama and Holder as a pretext to crisis necessitating sweeping restrictions on firearms in the United States.

The government cannot deny you firearms, that is the basic thrust of the Second Amendment. They will argue that you do not need high caliber weapons to go target shooting or deer hunting or whatever. That is not the point.

The Second Amendment exists to protect the citizen from a tyrannical government, and I submit to you that we are now in the throws of a tyrannical government, the exact kind of government that the founder so greatly feared.

To attack the Constitution of the United States with full malice aforethought is nothing less than treason. That, in my opinion, is exactly and precisely what Fast & Furious is all about.

Further, as commenters above have pointed out, this is an act of war. The American government under Barack Obama has committed an act of war against Mexico. Running guns over the border in a conspiracy that has left hundreds, if not thousands of Mexicans dead is no laughing matter.

So, when I have flames flying from my fingertips as I rage against this traitor that we suffer as our president, I do not do so lightly. I am watching, I am listening and I am reading where the mainstream media refuses to go.

This man, if he is not stopped, will bring down the United States Government as that has been his aim all along.

Just as you could plainly lay out Adolph Hitler’s plans for Germany by reading Mein Kampf, you can plainly see what Barack Obama has in store for America by peering into his past.

He doesn’t deserve a second term, he deserves a life sentence in a maximum security federal prison.

In Washington, the Fast and Furious scandal became politicized, diverting the attention from the human cost in Mexico to political battles on Capitol Hill. In June, a vote to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt ignored the real tragedy in Mexico.

I’m glad to see ABC News taking responsibility for downplaying the seriousness of the issue by playing the “Republicans are just being mean and racist to Obama and Holder” card.

What’s that, you say they’re just blaming Republicans for their reporting bias, sort of the Joe Scarborough ‘Mitt Romney’s comments prevent me from doing my job’ approach? Oh.

All those dead Mexican kids … Obama built that! Never forget that in his bid to deprive Americans of their Second Amendment rights under the U.S. Constitution, Barack Hussein Obama put in place the gun walker policy of selling arms to drug cartels and these guns were used to kill likely hundreds of innocent Mexicans, including these young people.

Obama built that and let it stand as a bloody testimonial to his hatred of the USA as presently constituted.

Vote the bastard out since the House won’t impeach him.

Henry Hawkins | October 1, 2012 at 11:34 am

A particularly damning part of the above 9 minute excerpt is the detail that ATF agents intended to plant tracking devices in the weapons but feared the batteries would expire, so they decided they’d just wait for the murder crime scenes to emerge as a way of tracking where their weapons went.

How cold is that? Think about it.

Browndog in reply to Henry Hawkins. | October 1, 2012 at 1:16 pm

    More like–How inaccurate is that?

Dead transmitters is one of the reason Wide Receiver was ended under Bush.

Not only did they not even try to track weapons, they forbid their own agents from trying.

Those in the MSM who are suppressing the Fast and Furious story should be ashamed of themselves. They violate the thing for which they supposedly stand and are allowing this administration to violate what they swore to uphold – namely, the laws and Constitution of this great country.

theduchessofkitty | October 1, 2012 at 1:27 pm

Since Spanish is my native language, I had zero problems watching the hour-long special on “Aquí y Ahora” in Univision yesterday. There were a lot of things that disconcerted me while watching the report… and a few things that made me… Mad As Hell.

1. As Henry Hawkins pointed out above, the ATF did intend to place tracking devices they could get, cheap, from Radio Shack, but were afraid the batteries would expire. So, they decided to wait for the carnage to happen in order to trace the weapons. (WTF?!?!?!?!?) Not only cold heart-ed, but also incompetent – they could have found better tracking devices with longer-lasting batteries. How come they didn’t?

2. One of the narcos arrested by the Mexican National Guard, who was a participant in many of the murders in which Fast and Furious weapons were used, actually said on Mexican national TV, very matter-of-fact-ly, that all the narcos in his area were very aware and quite comfortable to know that the United States Government – yes, our very own United States Government! – was virtually selling all those weapons to THEM! (Are you “Furious” yet?)

3. The Mexican media (mainly investigative journalists for local and national newspapers, many of whom have lost their and their families’ lives for reporting on the narco wars in MX over the years) have been very instrumental in exposing the horrifying crimes caused by the narcos and their “Fast and Furious” weapons to the Mexican people. As a result, the Mexican people demanded Justice for the victims of those crimes, and loudly.

As a result, the National Action Party (PAN), which had two of their own as President of Mexico for two six-year, non-repetitive terms (first, Vicente Fox, and then, Felipe Calderón) WERE SWEPT OUT OF POWER for the first time in 12 years last summer. The old Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) regained power all over Mexico, with Enrique Peña Nieto becoming the current President of Mexico.

Three things (or, rather four) that I have taken out of all this:

1. Obviously, the DOJ and the ATF learned absolutely NOTHING from Waco and Ruby Ridge… Or maybe they did, but in an entirely wrong way.

2. Isn’t providing weapons to organization(s) that destabilize our allied foreign governments, bringing murder and mayhem the kind the narco-terrorists have brought, intentionally or not, under the auspices of a Federal government agency, a HIGH CRIME? The United States Government “virtually” selling those weapons to NARCOS!!!! This should be enough for the Mexican Government (and I wouldn’t blame them one bit!) to bring a serious case against Our Government before the World Court. If the Mexican Government ever requested it, I am sure they will get a hearing. The potential for world-wide embarrassment to our Federal government is so great that We The People should demand justice here!

In other words, heads should roll – beginning with those who executed this, and all the way to the top. That means Congress must act and go even further than what they have so far done – even if that means removing from office the Attorney General and the President, for consenting to this thing.

Especially with this President, who seems to have the overwhelming support of Latinos here. How is it that his Administration is becoming instrumental in killing so many of the relatives and friends of those ones whose votes he seeks? Doesn’t that give you the stench of hypocrisy?

3. The Mexican media there exposed Fast and Furious to the point that the Mexican people demanded justice and were able to do something about those leaders who did nothing to stem the carnage and stop the violence and mayhem from the narcos because of treaties with the US, or connections to the narcos themselves. Heads rolled in Mexico – why not here?

Why? Because, unlike the Mexican media, whose journalists risked their lives (and many lost them) to bring all of this information into the open for the people to know, our Mainstream Media has done NOTHING of that sort – because their interest is in protecting their Precious President, their precious status, and their precious elite, nepotistic and even incest-like connections rather than the lives and integrity of our people and government officials.

Brian Terry and Jaime Zapata were “collateral damage” to those people. They weren’t those “real lives” our MSM was interested in. That attitude is absolutely shameful. Our Founding Fathers established Freedom of the Press under our First Amendment so the Press would be a serious check on government power – not beggars at the government’s buffet table! It is shameful that it has to take the bravery of the Mexican press to remind us here of all we have lost with the selling-out of our own MSM to the Leftist and cultural elites, to the Democrat Party, and to Barack Obama.

4. Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan should NOT hesitate to mention Fast and Furious during the upcoming debates. There is a very strong reason for this.

Mitt Romney has relatives in Mexico. These were Mormons who left the Utah territory at the turn of the twentieth century and settled in the northern Mexican states, close enough to the border. Some of those people returned to the States later on – including George Romney, Mitt’s father. There are even Romneys there who have dual US/MX citizenship, who are totally bilingual, and who have been active in politics there and here. Mormons also know from their own history that “those who have no swords can still fall upon them.”

If Mitt Romney breaks Fast and Furious during the debates, however faint, people will listen – and will demand answers. He must go over the Palace Guards of the MSM and go directly to the American people with this. If he does, I think the Latino community will listen, as well as a huge segment of America. Even if he loses, he would have done this nation a favor if he does that.

Fast and Furious is just too big of a scandal for the MSM to blatantly and shamefully ignore, for the American People not to be aware of, and for the Attorney General and the President to stay in power. The people of Mexico are outraged. Where is the outrage here in America?

[Note: For next time and for those who have Comcast, when you need translated closed captioning, go on the Menu on your remote control, then go to Settings, and then to Subtitle Settings. Turn the closed captioning ON, and then when it asks you classify the Language on the channel, select “Secondary”, and then press OK. That will give you the English translation to the Spanish programming. I don’t know the procedures for other cable or satellite TV carriers.

One more thing: I’m sorry I’m hoarding all this bandwidth, Professor. I was just too, ahem, “Furious” about this whole thing. I had to unload this.]

    1. As Henry Hawkins pointed out above, the ATF did intend to place tracking devices they could get, cheap, from Radio Shack, but were afraid the batteries would expire.

    This is inherently false.

There was never any concern, let alone attempt to track any weapons associated with Fast & Furious.

(testimony by ATF agents to House committee can be found in C-SPAN archives)

Henry Hawkins in reply to Browndog. | October 1, 2012 at 2:52 pm

So, when two ATF agents offer mutually excluding testimony, you choose between them how?

Browndog in reply to Henry Hawkins. | October 1, 2012 at 3:14 pm

        I don’t really follow what you’re asking.

All I can say is this: Having followed this closely, from day 1, researched it more thoroughly than 95% of the population, watched ALL the testimony I was aware of….

I can conclude with almost near certainty that the object of the Obama administration was to have weapons turn up at crime scenes in Mexico. Any effort to track or interdict those weapons would have run counter to the object.

I don’t know what “evidence” you’re relying on.

Exit question: Why would criminals, knowing what they had to go through to get those weapons, leave them at crime scenes?….unless you are deliberately planting evidence.

Henry Hawkins in reply to theduchessofkitty. | October 1, 2012 at 3:00 pm

Good content merits big bandwidth. Good stuff, Duchess.

Hey, anybody remember back in 2009, when Obama officials seemed to be in Mexico giving speeches on a weekly basis?

Remember the “90%” claims?

As we now know, this was the same time “operation gunnrunner/Fast & Furious” was launched?

No?

Here’s a detailed reminder:

HILLARY CLINTON DEEP IN FAST AND FURIOUS?

http://bwcentral.org/2012/06/hillary-clinton-deep-in-fast-and-furious/

I understand why most people have a hard time getting their head around F&F. We are not used to this kind of evil from our government. Others, around the world, no t so much.

Let’s be clear. It needs to be said.

Sacrificing human life for the greater good is a staple in marxist/progressive/islamic facsism.

Stalin starved 2 million Ukrainians in 1 year, just to prove a point.

It must be said.

Dead bodies was the goal. The U.S. Constitution was to blame.

Not sure why it’s so hard to understand that today’s liberals have little value of human life, and are outright hostile to it if it stands in the way of “the greater good”.
