No card game tonight, but some notable links

I’ve enjoyed covering the blog for much of the day today while the Professor was out. Since there’s no Saturday Night Card Game tonight, here are a couple of links to stories from the day that we didn’t get a chance to cover.

U.S. and Iran brace for long cyber war

New details emerging on what happened to Amelia Earhart?

The bigotry of the “progressive” party never ceases to amaze me. Brought to you by the hashtag, #SaySomethingNiceAboutRomney

And a video to leave you all with: Elizabeth Warren can’t handle tough questions, but she enjoys dishing them out to her students

And a video to leave you all with: Elizabeth Warren can’t handle tough questions, but she enjoys dishing them out to her students

Sorry, this is just a silly cheap shot. According to Wikipedia at least, Warren has won multiple teaching awards.

The Left’s narrative is that we are smearing Warren because she is so effective. This video plays right into that narrative. Breitbart shouldn’t have made it and LI shouldn’t be helping to disseminate it.

Come to think of it, the video is worse than silly. It’s counterproductive. No matter how well things have gone so far, we can’t afford too many unforced errors.

“Amelia Earhart found?”

Interesting read indeed… Especially the plans to search for the plane in the water surrounding Nikumaroro Island.

Atoll diving can be interesting while challenging. Assuming that they landed on the ocean side beach, the plane would eventually be swept out to sea where water depths drop precipitously to thousand of feet. An exception could be if the Electra got caught within one of the surge channels but even if this occurred, the plane would have broken up in small pieces most of which would eventually be buried by coral silt. Of course, if they landed on the lagoon side, the plane would still be there.

Something good to speculate on though…

Either Nicole Kidman or Naomi Watts to play Amelia if it is correct -which will require a new movie.

By that time Naomi will have finished playing Princess diana & Nicole Princess Grace of Monaco.(on the short list ! ).

Either would look gret in aviator sunniespeering over the Pacific. Both are good swimmers also.

    And the guy -who cares?

Concerning: “‘Say something nice about Romney’ hashtag brings out anti-Mormon slurs and hate.”

The wacky Left invented the highly subjective notions of ‘hate speech’ and ‘hate crimes’ based on nothing more substantial than that underpinning principle of Progressiveness: feelings. They placed the co-equal causes of diverrrrrrrr-sity and {cough, cough} tolerance right up there with math and science in our schools. In the drive to create little beings with a high degree of ‘self-esteem’, they’ve created an army of nascent narcissists. This is because self-esteem is only learned through the personal application of core values and personal accountability, rather than exposing children to an echo chamber where all results and behavior are valued and no limits are set.

That is why it’s okay to hate those who they’ve been directed to hate. In their minds, all behavior is assigned a relative value, based on to whom it is directed. Moreover, the more you can devalue ‘the enemy’ through your actions, the better you can serve to gin up the movement and serve the cause.

In this case, they tear down Governor Romney, yet Senator Reid, also a Mormon, is untouchable. In their minds, the latter is ‘one of us’, and therefore, this vitriol does not apply to him. In the coldest sense, their moral compass is directed not by the shared, common values of a civilized society. Instead, that compass is entirely directed by pure moral relativism (See also: “If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything”.) Now, more than ever. the Left subscribes to the concept that the ends justify the means. Institutionalized voter fraud is but one example.

The Left loves to throw around Nazi references, but comparing apples-to-apples, the whole Left seems more in lockstep with the NSDAP thugs of the 1930s than anyone on the Right. Compare OWS to the Tea Party; OWS creates its own fuel for condemnation, and in the case of the Tea Party, wrongs have to be imagined and invented, coincidentally always away from the camera.

God help this country. All of us. Please…
