Protect and support your local blogger

I posted some links over the weekend to the saga of Aaron Worthing (Walker) and someone named Brett Kimberlin.  I had never heard of Kimberlin before, or if I had it only was in connection with Walker’s continuing legal difficulties.  Apparently there is a long background of conflict between Kimberlin and conservative bloggers, as the archives at Patterico indicate.

Robert Stacy McCain took up the story, and has been digging into the backround of Kimberlin and his alleged connections to a non-profit and Democratic donors.

Now the story has gone from bad to worse, as indicated in McCain’s post yesterday and again today:

Convicted terrorist Brett Kimberlin on Monday continued his effort to silence those who write about his criminal past by contacting my wife’s employer, claiming that I was “harassing” him. The resulting security concern required immediate relocation if I was to be able to continue writing about the case of Kimberlin, a violent felon, perjurer and admitted tax cheat who is employed as the director of a 501(c)3 non-profit that has collected $1.8 million in contributions since 2005.

The story is not about McCain as such.  It’s about how bloggers, who don’t have large organizations and cadres of lawyers standing behind them, can be the subjects of attempted intimidation through a perceived weakpoint, such as an employer.

I’ve been subjected to periodic complaint letters and not just in connection with the Stop Rush effort:

One of the people behind Stop Rush not only has suggested I should worry about my job, that person repeatedly has tweeted to my employer complaining about me.

If true that Kimberlin contacted McCain’s wife’s employer, that would elevate it to an entirely new level, particularly in light of the history.

Protect and support your local blogger.  Think where you’d be without us.

Update:  It’s worth noting this ending to McCain’s post:

The National Bloggers Club, Inc, a non-profit organization that organizes the annual Blog Bash event celebrating free-market bloggers, is making available a press contact for those interested in learning more about this story:

Is there any legal action that McCain and his wife can take against this guy? From personal experience, people like this don’t stop until the cost is extremely high, or the ability to attack has been completely taken away from them. He’s already convicted (from what you’ve said) so that would imply that he’s immune to even threats of criminal prosecution. I wonder who would donate to an organization headed by someone like that?

I’ve received death threats from my blog posts. But this one went to a whole new level.
This Kimberlin character needs to be visited by the police.
TODAY.

Brett Kimberlin will turn up having done himself in, if this goes as such things so often do.

He’ll kill himself with a bomb, or in a car wreck…or he’ll eat a firearm.

Or, he’ll piss off somebody much badder than he himself is.

Kimberlin has been at this for a long time. Remember the 1992 story that Vice President Dan Quayle was a drug dealer that ran in high profile publications like The New Yorker?

The source of that story was a con named Brett Kimberlin.

There is a book about him. Citizen K: The Deeply Weird American Journey of Brett Kimberlin

I’m surprised no one has called the IRS to have them look into Mr. Kimberlin’s 501c3.
I’m betting there would be quite a few missing “funds”.

Ragspierre in reply to Tamminator. | May 22, 2012 at 2:59 pm

I know you weren’t kidding, but I did have to chortle.

The IRS has masters and priorities, and they do not jump to investigate guys like this thug.

Tamminator in reply to Ragspierre. | May 22, 2012 at 3:02 pm

Yeah, you’re right. The IRS has too many Republicans to investigate first.

Ragspierre in reply to Tamminator. | May 22, 2012 at 3:07 pm

That, and if you were a typical GS-nothing, would you want to investigate a known bomber?

It’s just human nature. Same reason most cops would rather write tickets and deal with ordinary citizens over minor stuff. Everybody wants to go home at the end of their shift.

I was in the tax department of large CPA firms for twenty years. That ain’t gonna happen.

That guy was starting out to do a favorable bio on Kimberlin and his accusations against Quayle, but came to realize BK is 100% BS.

It is one thing when a blogger is harassed by someone, even at work. It is wrong.

But to harass a blogger’s wife?!?!?!? Now, that’s even worse. It’s evil.

It is obvious that scumbag’s mission is to terrorize. Not “making the world better” with some kind of “non-profit.” What he’s actually doing is not “do-good-ing”, but TERRORISM.

And he does it because he has done it before.

Time to call him for what he is: a terrorist.

A nice guy, I’m sure. Pressuring the guy through his wife? How does he know that much about Mc Cain?

I’m guessing Kimberlin doesn’t live in Texas.

gasper in reply to Bob L. | May 22, 2012 at 5:40 pm

Kimberlin lives (or at least lived) in Bethesda, MD with his 80 year old mother. He’s not hard to find. Nor are his neighbors, who may be interested in knowing their living next to a former bomber and self-proclaimed peddler of pornography. John Kerry, the senator who only hob knobs with the best, is a contributor to the organization Kimberlin directs, or at least his wife is.

as is babs streisand. i’d like to start up a twitter campaign to ask either of them about how they feel funding a convicted terrorist to suppress others’ free speech

This Kimberlin guy has to be stopped.

Years ago, I had a very very small blog that I ran for the amusement of 6-10 of my friends (if even that). It was realy just a collection of humorous news stories I had read with color commentary.
This was back in ’04. By ’06 I had abandoned it but left it open out of laziness.
I got an email notification that someone had left a comment. Stunned I logged into read it. At one point I had written an article about the absurdity of union actions at a Ford plant harassing people who owned Toyotas. Some Union thug had decided to comment on my (dead for 2 years) blog insulting me in various ways.
I went in and cleared/deleted it after that. Blogging isn’t for the feint of heart and these days I’m fairly certain you need to be a lawyer just to get started. People are crazy.
(See Also: Popehat and the Dr. S. Burzynski craziness.)

My advice to McCain:

FILE FOR A NO-CONTACT PERSONAL PROTECTIVE ORDER!!!!

NOW!

Ask for 2600 feet (1/2 mile). There isn’t a sane judge that will deny it if you tell him that this person has been convicted of terrorism and planting bombs, because that judge doesn’t want the bad press of having denied the order and then having something happen.

I’ve been ill & not blogging much and there’s no way I can link up everyone who is blogging this, but there’s no freaking way I can let that terrorist creep terrorize my friends without joining the fight! I’ve been working on something at my place since last night, I’ll be sure to include the above post in it among some others. Remember Breitbart (who warned about that Kimberlin creep), remember how we honor him (#IAmAndrewBreitbart, “we are all Breitbart now”); everyone do whatever you can to get the word out and keep he pressure of scrutiny on the Speedway Bomber criminal terrorist Brett Kimberlin! We are Spartacus, we are Breitbart, and we are all Robert Stacy McCain now. Kimberlin cannot take on ALL of us! #IAmMcCainicus!
What I fail to understand is how he was ever let out of prison so early into his sentence in the first place, he barely did 1/3 of his time and should have NEVER been let out so early, especially given the violent nature of his crimes and his long history of previous and concurrent crimes! WHOSE PALMS WERE GREASED and who greased them?

OK, I can’t keep my mouth shut any more…

I’ve been dating Liberty Chick for more than a year now, and I just have to say this…

None of this information – not one bit of it – is new info.

She’s been a part of this for a year and a half.

She’s had her parents stalked, HERSELF stalked, and try as she might not a single person has done a god damn thing to help her…

Now that it’s RSM, NOW people care?

Well isn’t that just awesome.

Scott, in fairness, I have seen Mandy and the others being stalked and harrassed having to speak in code on twitter and on blogs because of what Kimberlin was doing. I assumed they feared inevitable litigation, and therefore treaded lightly, but the Aaron expose’, and now Stacey McCain, were the straws that broke the camel’s back. Once untethered, expect the full backing of Mandy, Aaron, Stacey, Lee and others to be full-on. My heart goes out to her, and to you as you have been witnessing the virtual assault. I wish you well.

its not on a blog but on a forum where guests can post.

Kimberlin became a jailhouse lawyer and USES the law to harass people. He knows he couldn’t threaten directly, so he mentions your kids’ names, or calls your wife’s employer, or yours. He managed to cost Aaron AND his wife their employment doing this, and tried to get Patterico fired from the LA DA’s office!

He files nuisance suits, has perjured himself on more than one occasion. That’s his MO. He AND his cronies Brad Friedman and Rauhauser need to have their money cut off by exposing them for what they do.

Unfortunately, it seems most Democrats don’t care, if you are on their side, and victimizing the other side, they are all for it.
