Obama on verge of his grand Iranian bargain

Obama on verge of his grand Iranian bargain

It looks like Obama is going to get the “grand bargain” which has been the point of U.S. policy towards Iran since the Obama administration stood silently as Iranians took to the streets in June 2009.

The grand bargain theory assures the Iranian theocracy’s continued control over not just Iran but an extended terrorist web extending from Syria and Lebanon to South America in exchange for supposed beefed-up monitoring of Iran’s nuclear program.  It is the culmination of Obama’s “negotiation without precondition” campaign promise, which presupposes the false choice between war and peace, when non-military confrontation of the mullahs and support of the Iranian people is a third way which is off the table.

As reported by Haaretz:

The Obama administration and the Iranian regime of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei are entering a critical week of decisions over the issue of Iran’s nuclear program. The sides are moving toward a “warming of relations alongside enrichment”, whereby the relationship between Washington and Tehran will improve, while Iran continues enriching uranium without pursuing a weapons program, but does not give up on its existing program. The threat of American or Israeli military action still exists, yet no one is holding the gun to Iran’s head….

In addition, American officials said over the weekend were reported by the New York Times as saying that the six world powers are willing to offer Iran an incentive package in return for a freeze in enrichment. Among the incentives is an offer to relieve the limits set on Iran’s aviation and energy sectors, but without canceling the heavy sanctions on its oil industry, which are set to be implemented in July.

The Iranian mullahs win.

The mullahs keep their nuclear program, put some window dressing on inspections, and get economic and political lifelines as well as international assurances.

Meanwhile, the U.S. becomes complicit in the continued existence of the mullah regime, protecting it from its own people and assuring another generation of terror throughout the Middle East and beyond.

Update: It’s working, the Iranians appear to be moderating, via Fars News Agency today:

Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Hassan Firouzabadi said threats and pressures cannot deter Iran from its revolutionary causes and ideals, and stressed that the Iranian nation will remain committed to the full annihilation of the Zionist regime of Israel to the end.

Addressing a defense gathering here in Tehran on Sunday, General Firouzabadi said that nations should realize the threats and dangers posed by the Zionist regime of Israel.

He reiterated the Iranian nation and Supreme Leader’s emphasis on the necessity of support for the oppressed Palestinian nation and its causes, and noted, “The Iranian nation is standing for its cause that is the full annihilation of Israel.”

Barack Obama looks into a mirror and things – Imperialist dogs must pay for propping up the Shah and turning him into a western puppet. The One will make those evil imperialists pay. Go nuclear, Iran, fulfill your third-world destiny! And while you’re at it, destroy the children of the zionist entity.

Daddy would be so proud.

He’s wanted to empower the mullahs from the beginning. It’s why he ignored the Green Revolution. It’s never been about incompetence, but intention.

The end of Israel is the ultimate prize — the true grand goal of the radical Left.

Why would Israel be the prize? Isn’t America the prize? And Israel merely a prelude?

Our Iranian friends say that bin Laden died of natural causes…

Yashar added that the CIA abducted one of the bodyguards, Sami, before the announced killing of Bin Laden last year.
He says the bodyguard disclosed to the US the exact place of burial in the mountains.

“There was no assault. I know the American operations from the inside: they find the grave, dig out bin Laden and tell everyone about this. They need to show how technologically the security services worked, how each step was controlled, and then present it as a great victory to show that taxpayers are not paying taxes for nothing,” he said.

Washington announced on May 2, 2011 that Bin Laden was killed by US forces in his compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan.

The lack of transparency over bin Laden’s death has cast further doubt over the announcement.

What do you expect from a muslim who found a “brand” of Christianity that he could be comfortable with?

Pardon me while I puke.

A Christianity that is Christian in name only, that’s what the Jeremiah Wright church member has adopted as his own. Liberation theology is heresy. How much better the nation would be now if it weren’t the case! Wright has much to answer for — false teachers will be judged harshly.

Basically, we’re in a holding pattern and the Iranians are in a military box, though not necessarily an economic stranglehold and certainly not political isolation.

They’re trying to wait this out. It’s the same strategy Saddam tried with Clinton and it worked for the entirety of Clinton’s two term. By his second term, Saddam was raking in the dough with “Oil for Food”.

State is useless and the Wallstreet is infuriated that they aren’t allowed to directly cash in with the Ayatollah (same was true with Saddam).

The American trump card is the US military – obviously. Especially the US Navy, which has been training to fight Iran for about three decades the way that the Army was training to fight Iraq for about one and a half.

Neville Chamberlain would be proud.

this is very similar to the sweet deal North Korea has enjoyed, but worse than the US paying tribute to the Muslim Barbary Coast pirates in the late 1700s, because Iran will covertly continue its nuclear program in order to achieve its expressed intent to destroy Israel.

44 has a definite affinity for islam.

Reading history is so important. Have your kids read this during their summer break from feel-good “we are the world” indoctrination. Have your family, relatives, and friends read it, too:

“In 1919 Andre Tardieu, a French diplomat charged with implementing the inspections, had written to Col. Edward M. House, an adviser to President Woodrow Wilson, anticipating reactions to whatever the inspectors reported. He said the “pacifist element” in many nations would “be quite naturally inclined to deny reports disturbing to their peace of mind.” So they would “more or less consciously espouse the cause of the German government, which will deny the said reports.” He added:

“Germany will deny. The governments will discuss. Public opinion will be divided, alarmed, nervous, and finally, the League unarmed will have brought to pass in the world not general peace but general uncertainty.”

Nevertheless, Tardieu was optimistic because “a modern mobilization demands years of preparation and cannot be carried out in secret. Neither of these essentials is henceforth in the hands of Germany.” If enforced, the disarmament regime would make Germany incapable of mobilization.

The field marshal who was in command of all German armies at the end of the war agreed: “Months would be necessary to prepare a new war, and do you think the French would look on with their hands in their pockets?”

The field marshal was Paul von Hindenburg, who as Germany’s semi-senescent president in January 1933 appointed as chancellor a World War I corporal, Adolf Hitler.”

Some things always seem timely …

      1. Thanks for the informative post, Luke-san. I hadn’t realized that European fecklessness about Germany had started so early.

And here we go again. At least an Islamic Hitler has not (yet) revealed himself.

      2. Note that Israel, the nation most affected by Iranian nukes, is locked out of the negotiations. In fact, Iranian nukes will affect the entire balance of power in the Mideast, and not a single Middle Eastern regime is participating.

(How many in the participating governments are on the take from the Saudis is a separate issue. Our last two Presidents have respectively kissed and bowed to a Saudi despot.)

The Chinese are not openly involved. They are smart enough not to interfere while their enemies ruin themselves.

I predict Andrew Sullivan will breathlessly announce how this is a “win-win” and a great victory of statesmanship, while throwing in a few back slaps at the Israelis.

*thump* *thump* goes Israel under the bus. Think the Iranians will name the first nuke they throw in his honor?

It’s like the post-election “flexibility” with the Russians…they said “We can’t wait” for you to wimp out next year. The Iranians now say “We can’t wait” for you to help us destroy Israel next year.

Now the UN wants a Robin Hood tax…”We can’t wait” to put you in Rope and Chains.
