It’s 8:10 a.m. Eastern, November 4, 2011, five days into the Herman Cain Scandal, and finally we have facts.
Steve Deace, an anti-Cain Iowa talk show host, has made headlines which seem to corroborate that Herman Cain is a cad, as dutifully reported by ABC News, among others:
A conservative Iowa radio host, who on Wednesday became the latest person to accuse Herman Cain of acting inappropriately toward women, declined to offer specifics about the presidential candidate’s behavior but suggested that Cain was “compromised in his private life.”
Steve Deace, who hosts a syndicated two-hour radio program in Iowa, said that two of his female staff members were subjected to “inappropriate and awkward” comments by Cain. But he refused to identify them or elaborate on the seriousness of the allegations.
While ABC News claims not to know the substance of the allegations, The Des Moines Register (h/t Charles, via Right Scoop) reports that Deace previously revealed at least one of the “awkward” statements on his radio show last month:
During his Oct. 3 broadcast in Iowa, Deace mentioned that Cain made a comment to a woman who was there to report on the radio interview for another news agency.
“Cain said, ‘Darling, do you mind doctoring my tea for me?’” Deace said.
Deace told the Register last month that he believes Cain was talking about adding honey and lemon, but that it was an awkward moment.
Shocking. Certainly a ground to ruin a presidential campaign, and enough for ABC News and, the all-Herman Cain, all-the-time Politico to run large headlines about it..
There may be damning facts out there about Herman Cain. And maybe we will actually hear the damning facts sooner or later. But they’re not out there yet, as of 8:10 a.m. Eastern on November 4, 2011.

‘Darling, do you mind doctoring my tea for me?’
You can sue and demand compensation for saying that in USA??? I am amazed! Here in Europe, they would have been laughed out of court!
There was a story on Instapundit the other day about the death of Southern politeness. This is exactly why it is dying. If ‘Darling, do you mind doctoring my tea for me?’ is a scandal rather than being a quaint anachronism why be polite?
The fundamental basis for being polite is the expectation of reciprocity. If instead it garners scorn and insult then let us Southerners join the dog eat dog world of the Yankees.
The reason “sexual harassment sensitivity” is a bogus standard for guiding behavior is shown in the following real world incident I personally saw in my workplace.
A female co-worker had a bit of crush on a hunky sales guy. Another of her male co-workers was painfully shy and awkward and had the curse of a crush on that same female co-worker. He spoke of her a few times to me.
One day hunky sales guy paid a compliment to her- “my, my don’t you look hot today.” She blushed and gushed about that compliment over and over.
Then the shy male co-worker said exactly the same statement but in a very clumsy awkward way to the same female. She was offended, loudly insulted the shy guy in front of others and stormed off to HR to complain.
“…There may be damning facts out there about Herman Cain. And maybe we will actually hear the damning facts sooner or later….
Sure…as damning as say a community organizer’s ties with domestic Marxist terrorists.
I hope Cain didn’t mention wanting to spoon the honey!
Almost more chilling is to realize that it is the anniversary of the election of Barack Hussein Obama as POTUS.
In about 16 hours, it will be the anniversary of when the press declared him the winner of the election, sealing the fate of our nation for 4 long, miserable, years – the malaise predictable from “Carter’s 2nd term.”
And the press continues to Bork (or Palinize) Herman Cain. What a distraction!!!
Weren’t we supposed to be more united than ever, Democrats?! Oh, yeah, that was “words, just words.” Obama – the great DIVIDER.
Anything to get elected, champs. We were the chumps to vote for this debacle that is the Obama administration.
November 1012: Anyone. But. Obama. …..and: NO third party!
*2012. oops 🙁
Red State is hard at work Palinizing Cain over it. Not surprising since Cain isn’t Perry:

Their handling of it disgusts me. It goes hand in hand with their treatment of Palin that makes them less and less interesting for commentary on candidates.
I like some of their other work, but they went so far out of bounds on this one, that it has really turned me off.
For another perspective, I like this article from Surber, whom I am coming to like more and more:

Just a reminder what a real “settlement” looks like.
If ‘Darling, do you mind doctoring my tea for me?’ constitutes sexual harrassment worthy of a lawsuit – no wonder some men feel women are shrews. Why would you hire a woman so hyoer-sensitive?
Funny but back when women’s rights began there were actual discrimination instances to be addressed – not “ooh , he looked at me funny, I feel uncomfortable” foolishness.
I use that very line at the bars. 60% of the time it works all the time.
I had been saying all along it would be stuff like this and some called me foolish.
what a travesty of injustice this has become.
Oh my! It is a strange world we have fashioned.
I smile every time a waitress, clerk, cashier calls me “Hon”, “Sweetie”, “Dear”, etc. It takes me back 50 or 60 years to a different South for a moment (even though the latest instance was a jolly black woman). Never realized that I was being victimized in the process. Oh, wait I can’t be victimized. Wrong gender.
I’m the right sex for victimization to be possible– and I miss random, friendly folks calling me “hon” or “darlin'” or such.
Then again, I call folks ma’am and sir, and both of those get me scolded….
I remember when companies were just starting to subject their employees to classes on sexual harassment. My husband would tell me how everyone in his department hated the classes. He had a team of people who worked well together, and they resented the classes. So one day one of the older women stood up in class and asked, “Where is this sexual harassment going on? Because I’d like to get some.” Everyone laughed, cheered and applauded.
Not too long ago I was in Los Angeles, opened the door for my female aquaintance, a partner in one of the largest law firms in the world, and was immediately dressed down for sexism. I was rendered speachless.
So even if this is all they got, it still might play in certain segments of our society.
But not here in the South, thank God.
have had that happen also, even though I hold the door for people no matter their sex.
I always appreciate it when people do it for me (I am disabled) so I try to return the favor.
what a crock.
I read your comment and had to laugh ….I had the same thing happen to me ….I was a older student at Texas A&M and I open a door for a woman and she came unglued on me
The worst thing about most feminists is they have absolutely no sense of humor. They sweeten their tea with indignation.
When that happens to me, I just let go of the door and walk away. Usually they’ve stopped in it to tell me off and it slams on them. No skin off my nose, if they want to react to common courtesy by being nasty, they deserve what they get.
As allegations go, that is weak tea.
You know what? You should write this the way it was most probably said: “DARLIN’, do you mind doctoring my tea for me?”
Cuz, you know, I could really hear Herman Cain sayin’ that.
Just like my old Daddy.
DinoRightMarie said “November 1012: Anyone. But. Obama. …..and: NO third party!”
Any “true” conservative who votes for Mitt Romney when he wins the GOP nomination for president is a hypocrite. Why? Because all we hear about is how the “ruling class”, the “establishment”, the “Beltway Boys”, etc. are ruining America. Voting for the candidate who is the “lesser than two evils” is a cop out and an affront to the supposed principles of limited government that they tout.
A third party is EXACTLY what is needed in this country.
Furthermore, perfessor, it is most ironic that you are calling out how the media is putting the cart before the horse (i.e. declaring a person’s guilt before presenting evidence) when you and your boyzzz are well-known for engaging in the same sort of character assassination. So please spare me the sanctimony. If you are so concerned about how the lives of people are ruined by baseless accusations, be the adult and call out it in your own backyard.
Yes, it is awful that Cain’s reputation is being scrutinized for political gain. But that is how politics works today. That is how our media–right AND left–currently operates.
And anyone who casts a single vote that ensures Obama’s re-election is far, FAR worse.
I mean, if you want to see this country virtually burned to the ground by the time someone else gets a chance to sit in the White House, you should proudly say so, because that IS effectively what you are agitating for.
I have ZERO respect for anyone who sits home in 2012 and watches Obama get re-elected no matter WHO is on the ballot opposite him. I would vote for a rock. Hell, I might consider pulling the lever for John Kerry over Obama.
I appreciate your ideological rigidity. Enjoy it while this country descends further towards European socialism after Obama is elected. I can buy into your statement if you said “votes for Romney in the primaries,” but if he is the nominee, then a non vote or vote for a third party is in essence a vote for Obama. That’s the way the system works today, like it or not. Some day a third party might be viable, but not in November 2012.

SCOTUS justice Clarence Thomas’ wife interviewed Herman Cain in this video.
I am not a Cain supporter but when something so crazy and malicious occurs as these anonymous accusatory statements are publicized, I must speak out. Where is decency that an accuser would get away with making hurtful statements anonymously and not facing the accuser? What has happened to the rule of law? There are socially acceptable ways a woman can assert herself in dealing with an offensive comment and it is not a legal remedy.
The Cain Team is not handling this very well. Mr. Cain then makes a accusatory statement pointing blame at Governor Perry without a shred of evidence. And when the person he named from Perry’s team denied it and said he thought well of Mr. Cain. Governor Perry does not stoop to such idiocy but look at the history of Obama’s rise in Illinois then D.C. and the people whose careers he destroyed by such underhanded tactics.
That’s it? Really, that’s it? My response, fix your own tea – not a law suit. She should hide herself; what an embarrassment – her, not Cain. Go Herman!!
Let’s stay on point, deadrody. All I hear is how conservatives want to take back “their” country. They want a candidate who completely embraces their ideology. They complain bitterly about Romney’s policies and social issues waffling…yet will vote for him as president?
Nope, sorry, absolutely hypocritical. One might as well turn in their conservative card and call it a day!
Moreover, deadrody and DougV need to lay off the partisan sauce.
DougV–“but if he is the nominee, then a non vote or vote for a third party is in essence a vote for Obama.”
So you are willing to prostitute yourself by supporting a person who does not pass the conservative litmus test, just because he is allegedly better than Obama?
Hypocrite.
