This Insurrectionist regularly monitors Chris Matthews' Hardball show. And while there's little doubt that come November 8th Matthews will pull the lever for Hillary, he has given Donald Trump a fairer shake than other MSNBC hosts. I chalk it up to Matthews' regular-guy upbringing. Factoid: Matthews did a short stint as a Capitol Hill police officer. A striking example of Matthews' relative fairness came tonight. After airing a clip of Trump criticizing the police shooting of an African-American man in Tulsa, OK, Matthews repeatedly pressed Hillary surrogate Stephanie Schriock, the president of the pro-abortion rights EMILY's List, to agree that Trump was "right in saying that." She clumsily dodged and weaved, but under persistent questioning by Matthews, Schriock eventually conceded "yes, I think so." Said a satisfied Matthews: "that's all I'm asking."

Avengers writer Joss Whedon gathered a few of his celebrity friends to launch "Save the Day" as a way to encourage people to show up at the polls come Election Day. None of the actors specifically mention Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump, but it's hard not to see how the video is meant to encourage voting for anyone other than Hillary. https://twitter.com/joss/status/778570386833219585

Andrea Mitchell has her unmentionables in major undulations over the fact that Donald Trump, Jr. posted a tweet analogizing terrorists hiding among bona fide refugees to a few poisonous Skittles in an otherwise okay bowl. And so on her MSNBC show today, Mitchell teed up Dem Rep. Adam Schiff to take a big swing at the Trump campaign. Schiff was only too happy to oblige, piously denouncing Trump, Jr., whom he described as a "rotten apple" falling not far from the tree. Schiff accused Trump, Jr. of saying "essentially, children who are fleeing the war and violence are like poison candy." The truth is that far from analogizing innocent children to poison candy, the point of the tweet was that terrorists would infiltrate themselves among the innocent to enter our country and wreak mayhem here.

Late last year, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi was snubbed by President Obama during his visit to New York City for the United Nations General Assembly’s 70th meeting. Now, al-Sisi is gearing up to meet the two top challengers in the race to be the next Oval Office occupant.
An adviser to U.S. Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's campaign said on Sunday that Trump will meet with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Monday during the United Nations General Assembly, just as Hillary Clinton, the Democratic presidential nominee, is also scheduled to do.

A current GQ article detailed something that this Insurrectionist, as a regular monitor of Morning Joe, had observed: that Joe Scarborough went from being a Trump booster during the primaries to a vitriolic critic of The Donald during the general election campaign. But a trend I sensed last week continued on today's Morning Joe: Scarborough seems to be swinging back in Trump's direction. On a number of issues, it was Scarborough-against-the-panel in defending Trump. First, Joe noted how a reporter had teed Hillary up to criticize Trump for speaking of a "bomb" in NYC, whereas Hillary herself had spoken of "bombings." Later, Scarborough alone rose to Trump's defense over his suggestion that Hillary's bodyguards be disarmed.

I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. Elizabeth Warren, as you know, is the self-righteous crusader for the least among us who appropriated the culture of the least among us, Native Americans, to try to advance her law professor career in the 1980s and 1990s. When she achieved a tenured position at Harvard Law School, she dropped Native Americans like a hot potato. It's an issue she avoids like the plague for good reason, she's guilty as hell. Here is Anne at 2012 Netroots Conference trying to ask a simple question:
"Just one question. I'm from Legal Insurrection and I'd love to ask you if you view yourself as a role model to women of color?"
Anne never got an answer to the question, just a clipboard in the face from one of Warren's staffers.

Talk about low-energy . . . Hillary Clinton sleepwalked through her reaction to news of the NYC bombing of last night. View the video and catch the somnambulistic former Secretary of State speaking, without conviction, in a dull monotone. Compare and contrast with Donald Trump's muscular reaction to the same news, in which he said America needed to get "very tough." Neither candidate had all the details, and leaders should not of course overreact in such situations. Even so, in tough times we want a president to project strength and determination. Trump passed that test. Hillary needs to go back to sleep.

Hillary Clinton backer David Brock of Media Matters is desperate for a new line of attack on Donald Trump and is willing to pay cash to anyone who can help him find it. This doesn't look desperate at all, does it? The Washington Free Beacon reported:

As mentioned the other day with regard to a surge in “Move to Canada” Google Searches, there will be a collective freak out in certain places if Trump wins. The freak out has already started. The Washington Post reports Psychologists and massage therapists are reporting ‘Trump anxiety’ among clients:
If there is an unofficial capital of psychotherapy, it’s New York’s Upper West Side, where it’s easier to find a therapist than a parking space. Judith Schweiger Levy, a psychologist in the neighborhood, has noticed a recent uptick in Trump references among her patients, including a middle-aged businesswoman who blurted out this week that her sister is supporting the billionaire.

So the media lost their minds on Twitter when they arrived at a Donald Trump birther event, only to hear from veterans and why they support Trump. Ehrmahgerd, Trump tricked them!!! Surprising candor from Chris Cuomo . . . CNN host Cuomo was discussing the Obama birther issue with Bernie Sanders this morning [it's expected that Trump will make a statement on the matter today.] Sanders mentioned that no one ever asks whether he was born in America despite the fact that his father was born abroad [in Poland.] Ever on the alert for racism, Sanders suggested the reason has to do with the color of his skin [see screencap of Sanders pointing to his skin.] That's when Cuomo said something surprising: "you don't think it was about the fact that the records seemed a little sketchy, that he wouldn't put them out?" Shocking to see Cuomo say something not aligned with the MSM bandwagon, which of course continues to excoriate Trump for ever having raised the issue.
