Paris Synagogue attacked by Pro-Palestinian crowd carrying boycott message

Anti-Semitism, anti-Zionism and BDS have merged in the political real world.

On the streets of Paris today, a crowd of anti-Israel protesters surrounded and attacked a Synagogue full of worshippers, throwing rocks and attacking the building, via Times of Israel:

Several thousand demonstrators walked calmly through the streets of Paris behind a large banner that read “Total Support for the Struggle of the Palestinian People”.

But clashes erupted at the end of the march on Bastille Square, with people throwing projectiles onto a cordon of police who responded with tear gas. The unrest was continuing early Sunday evening.

Media reports said that hundreds of Jews were trapped inside a synagogue in the area and police units were sent to rescue them.

A person in the synagogue told Israel’s Channel 2 news that protesters hurled stones and bricks at the building, “like it was an intifada.”

The Paris attack was just one of many such incidents, including a firebombing of another synagogue in France.

This on a day in which the Twitter hastags #HitlerWasRight and #HitlerDidNothingWrong trended among pro-Palestinians.

The full, ugly anti-Semitic face of anti-Zionism was revealed, once again.

It is important to note that just as in protests in the U.S., the Boycott Divest and Sanction movement message is an important part of these anti-Semitic displays.

For all intents and purposes, anti-Semitism, anti-Zionism and BDS have merged in the political real world.

The BDS banner, including the libel that Israel is an Apartheid State, was carried front and center at the protest leading to the attack on the Synagogue. (See Featured Image)

This is consistent with what I have argued in my speeches on campuses.

The BDS movement was born at the anti-Semitic Durban conference, where Nazi caricatures of Jews were displayed. It is based on Jew hatred.

That doesn’t mean that every participant hates Jews, and most in the U.S. don’t, but the movement is an anti-Jewish movement at its founding and in practice throughout the world.

Even those in the BDS movement who are not subjectively anti-Semitic cannot escape the basic nature of the movement, and the fact that the demonization and dehumanization of Israel is an integral part of anti-Semitic violence particularly in Europe.

Don’t think it’s just in Europe.

Death to Israel was the chant in NYC also:

signs say free palestine from the river to the sea, doesn’t that mean erase israel or am I thinking incorrectly?

You riot, you should get the proper response for a riot: sharpshooters and live rounds. The moment violence starts, it’s no longer a peaceable assembly; anyone hanging around long enough for the police to arrive are part of the violence.

Not anti-Israel or pro-“Palestine”, anti-Semitic terrorist supporting scum.

Like the late 1930s, it’s time to start teaching Jewish schoolkids Krav Mga. When you can permanently cripple or blind the lead bully in about 3-seconds, the rest will generally flee.

    Never. Again.

The “Palestinians” keep threatening to start a 3rd Intifada.

It’s a good thing we’re being told about that. I can’t remember when the 1st or 2d ones ever stopped.

3 Jews recently shot dead in Belgium, and now a Pro Palestine group with anti semitic sympathies attacks a Paris synagogue full of worshippers. I’m very concerned for any Jews safety outside Israel, and fear worse is to follow as Israel continues to bomb Gaza.

Where were the Parisian cops?

On most occasions, I agree wholeheartedly with your opinion, but I must take issue with that part, Professor. American anti-Semites are just better liars, but these self-described “anti-Zionists” (on the Left and Right) still hate Jews with a deep and abiding passion, every bit as much as do their European counterparts.

FWIW, Those hashtags started at 4Chan’s /b/ and /pol/ boards quite some time ago.

What I find quite curious is that although the protest took place in Paris, where the national language is French, all the messages in these photos – both signs and t-shirts – are in English.

This (1) indicates that the audience for this protest is international and (2) suggests some coordination between the protest group and the “press” taking the photos, a collaboration that probably has been going on for some time.

Interesting that the signs in Paris were in English.
