National Dems abandon Wendy Davis’ sinking ship
The campaign falls off the long-awaited cliff
On April 21, in light of the multitude of problems, I asked Is Wendy Davis’ campaign about to fall off a cliff?
How much longer will out of state interests keep funneling money to Davis?
With control of the U.S. Senate and various House seats on the line, will liberal activists keep spending good money after bad in the Texas Governor’s race.
Well, that didn’t take long. National Democrats are abandoning Davis’ sinking ship, as reported by the L.A. Times:
If Washington was reeling on Tuesday, the vertigo may have stemmed from something rare: blunt honesty from the mouth of an elected official.
Really.
It occurred as Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin, head of the Democratic Governors Assn., detailed for reporters the group’s target races this year.
Top tier: Maine, Pennsylvania, Florida. Second tier: Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin. Fingers crossed: South Carolina, Georgia, Kansas, Arizona.
Notably absent was one of the supposed marquee races of 2014, Democrat Wendy Davis’ effort to derail Republican Greg Abbott in Texas.
Shumlin sent an unmistakable signal that the moneyed organization had better places to place its dough.
“We all understand Democrats haven’t won Texas in a long time,” he said, after a reporter noted that Texas had not been included among his targeted states.
Davis’ campaign reacted with fury, as reported by The N.Y. Daily News:
But the lack of confidence from her own party set Davis’ team off.
“The uninformed opinions of a Washington, D.C., desk jockey who’s never stepped foot in Texas couldn’t be less relevant to what’s actually happening on the ground,” Karin Johanson, Davis campaign manager, said in a surprising statement after Shumlin’s slight.
Johanson later clarified that the “uninformed Washington, D.C., desk jockey” was meant to describe whoever scripted the party’s talking points on the DGA’s priority campaigns.
Erick Erickson is gloating, Democrats Abort Their Texas Takeover:
I told the Democrats they couldn’t run a gubernatorial campaign in Texas on pink shoes and children ripped limb from limb. But the Cult of Moloch is so strong with them, they were convinced their gods would help them.
No more.
Under investigation from the FBI; off the campaign trail for neck surgery; losing women to the white, male Republican; and not getting enough support from south state Hispanic voters, poor old Wendy Davis is collapsing. The Democratic Governors Association chair says winning Texas is not a priority. The money isn’t going to be flowing to Wendy like she thought….
Hey, tell me again how defining her early as “Abortion Barbie” was going to hurt my side!
Of course it’s not over until the Fat Lady sings, as the saying goes.
The Democratic Governors Association just sang, and I think that’s close enough.

You have to hand it to Davis, running on opposition to the anti-Gosnell law and claiming ignorance of Gosnell is pretty ballsy.
Insulting to her would be constituents…but ballsy.
You have to eat a peck of dirt before you die, but there is no limit on ballsy
She’s too Wendy for me. Is she from the Wendy city?
Ballsy? I’d call it ditzy!
Toldja.
“Mommy Dearest” Davis never had a chance. Not in Texas.
Let’s hope she made the Dims waste a lot of their money though! ho Ho HO!
It’s Xmas in April in Texas!
In honor of Star Wars day (May 4th): Luke: “I got one!” Solo: “Great, Kid. Don’t get cocky.”
RE: “Erick Erickson is gloating, Democrats Abort Their Texas Takeover”
Ohhhh. That’s going to leave a mark.
It’s way to early in the race for the Dem machine to turn off the spigot. We need to find a way to tempt them into sending good money after bad.
Amen Immolate!
El Gordo could spend a few Billions of his Gore-Ball Warming money and still have too much left.
Let’s hope that if Lizzy Warren decides to run for POTUS, that the same will happen to her!!
Abortion Barbie to be Discontinued
In this case, the Left has been hoisted upon their own petard.
When Davis made her “brave, courageous stand” and filibustered the Texas Senate (when Republicans filibuster, it’s ‘cowardly, insulting and obstructionist’), the Left was caught up in a firestorm of emotion, bordering on mass ecstasy. Not since 0bama had they been this high (not counting after 5 p.m. every day). Recall that when the Special session voted on the law that the nut-jobs showed up at the Texas capitol with signs that mentioned ‘vagina’ in every possible context, street theater that featured coat-hangers in a starring role, bags of poo (no, sorry, those were feminists), bullhorns in designed colors (hey, it’s Austin) and all manner of Left-cause enablers.
The national Left looked upon this with a fondness that bordered on paternal. “Oh, look! Texas is growing up! It’s that lovely!” Wendy Davis was the catalyst. She was the rock star. Leftists all over Manhattan were feeling weak kneed. Not since that summer in the Hamptons with the Palestinian pool boy has some of these jaded creatures felt so… alive!
So, in typical Lefty fashion, the saw the “surface” Wendy Davis: brave, strong, of humble origins, struggling, smart (all Lefty women is ‘smart’), Hahhhh-vahhhd Educated… Never once, did they look below the surface.
Wendy Davis is a typical Lefty politician in that she is like a reflecting pond: a hundred feet wide, three inches deep!
In Oregon, Washington, California, Massachusetts, Wisconsin, Rhode Island or Connecticut, she would be the ideal candidate. Shallow and Showy. She’s Lizzy Warren without the Indian lie. But….that sh!t don’t fly, not here in Texas.
I’m a conservative and I have a bullhorn in Summer Sky Peach. You got a problem wit’ dat?
Except that she is much better looking than Warren, in a Texas sort of way. Maybe it is the difference in age, but Warren looks like the sexagenarian that she is, which may not sell as well to Gen X, Gen Y, and the Millennials as the Dems may think.
Would it be rude of me to laugh out loud?
Ah, who cares? BWAH-HAHAHAHAHA!!!
This, and a few good, weapons-grade ads here in TX against her around Mother’s Day, should make her go down into the grave – which she dug for herself.
And I mean, really nuclear ads around Mother’s Day. Let it be reminded to all Texans how “good” of a “mother” she is! It will hurt good. Very good.
(Note To Self: Do NOT piss off the Duchess)
I like your style, Duchess. 🙂

I’m sure you understand, guys. I’m the mother of two girls, under the age of 8. One thing I would NEVER do is to abandon my dear children. They count on me. They depend on me. But obviously, Wendy Davis’ mind has been so perverted that she can feel free to claim to do that in the name of “women’s rights”.
There are A LOT of moms who go to college while their children are young, sometimes very young. The kids are happy when mom achieves her goals.
What NO KID ever expects is that Mom would abandon them to their luck – and then sending him to the cleaners in court for no other reason but that she can. Even less, abandon them to their step-dad after the last student loan payment is made. See, many women do abandon their husbands. That’s a given that it can happen to any man. But the sheer act of abandoning your own children for your career, because it’s “not a good time to be a mom right now” is unthinkable to any mother (including me), but to do that the way she did is totally despicable – totally abominable.
That is the reason why I want to see such an ad against Davis here in TX around Mother’s Day. I want every mother here in TX, from the oldest to the just pregnant, to feel the disgust that I felt when I found out about it. “Wendy Davis, you b!#@$! No mother ever does that! Ever! Leaving the hubby – that happens a lot. But leaving YOUR Children?!? You have forfeited your right to be called a “mother.” And yet you still want to be Governor of Texas?!?
“See, Ann Richards was all right. Carol Keaton-Strayhorn was all right. But you… You can’t hold a candle to them… or to any mother here in Texas! You are a disgust and a disgrace!”
And by the time the ad is over, I want to see all those moms run her out of this state on a rail.
Hmmm, terminating something (a candidacy) because it’s not viable. Where have I heard that before? How’s it feel, Wendy?
Don’t celebrate too soon, guys. The Dems have a habit of replacing an unviable candidate with a more viable one AND WINNING, no matter what election law says.
I’m sorry, I never took her seriously. The “filibuster” that proved merely an inconvenience for legislators and an expense for taxpayers and the pink shoes were her claim to fame. I considered her a joke then, before I knew much about her history, because I knew there was no record of accomplishment. Pink shoes? Gimme a break!
Of course I said the same thing about the candidate whose ONLY “qualification” was being a “Mom in tennis shoes,” and Patty Murray is now in her 4th term in the Senate. And I said the same thing about the junior Senator with the worst attendance record in history and no achievements, and Obama is in his second term in the White House.
Go figure!
Well the good news is that she has enough campaign cash left over to fix that thing on her face.
AUSTIN — Bo Delp, spokesman and former communications director for Sen. Wendy Davis’ campaign for governor, has resigned.
Delp said it was “an honor” to work for the Democratic senator, who faces Republican Attorney General Greg Abbott. He said that he is confident in her candidacy and that he will support her “wherever and whenever possible.”
Zac Petkanas, U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s former communications director, became Davis’ communications director in March. Delp had stayed on as deputy communications director. Delp said Thursday that he is “considering a number of other opportunities in Texas Democratic politics.”
