Gawker tries to inspire 2 minutes of Jerry Seinfeld politically correct hate
Shouldn’t we should judge comedians by the quality of their comedy, not the color of their skin?
Jerry Seinfeld was interviewed for Buzzfeed Brew, and gave a perfectly sensible answer about “diversity” in comedy, namely that if you’re funny, you’re funny, and comedy is not a census designed to look like the pie chart of America.
It’s perfectly sensible, except to Gawker, which is trying to inspire 2-minutes of Seinfeld hate:
Jerry Seinfeld, the most successful comedian in the world and maker of comedy for and about white people, isn’t interested in trying to include non-white anything in his work.
When asked why he featured so many white men in his web series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee during a Buzzfeed interview on CBS This Morning, Seinfeld seemed offended by the very question. “It really pisses me off,” he said. “People think [comedy] is the census or something, it’s gotta represent the actual pie chart of America. Who cares?”
BuzzFeed Business Editor Peter Lauria seemed hesitant to pursue the frank answer, but the comedian continued on anyway. “Funny is the world that I live in. You’re funny, I’m interested. You’re not funny, I’m not interested,” he said. “I have no interest in gender or race or anything like that.” He seems to suggest that any comedian who is not a white male is also not funny, though he’s also likely fed up with the amount of bad comedy he’s been forced to sit through in his (waning) career.
Which is too bad, because Seinfeld is downplaying the work of everyone from Richard Pryor and Bill Cosby to Aziz Ansari, Mindy Kaling, and Eddie Huang, who are all in various stages of their own sitcoms that just might turn out to be the next Seinfeld….
In conclusion: Yes, comedy should represent the entire pie chart of America, and the glorious, multicolored diversity pie should be thrown directly at Jerry Seinfeld’s face.
No, you fool, Seinfeld isn’t denigrating anyone. He’s saying that we should judge comedians by the quality of their comedy, not the color of their skin.
Where did I hear something similar to that before? Definitely not at Gawker.

I have no doubt that Gawker wrote the entire story prior to the interview with Seinfeld. They knew the angle they wanted to take from the outset and did what they set out to do.
The pro-abortion/choice advocates lack common sense, which is not surprising since they perceive human life as a commodity that is interchangeable and disposable following a selective standard.
The concept of diversity, which does not recognize the diversity of individuals, denigrates individual (i.e. human) dignity.
I am really looking forward to that Richard Pryor sitcom.

I remember discovering Bill Cosby when I was a kid. For a brief instant, it seemed notable that he was black, but after that instant he was just a really funny guy and everyone loved him.
Likewise, I don’t think Wayne Brady got a spot on that improv show because they wanted to check the “black guy” box; he got it because he’s funny and talented and appealing.
It would be an insult to either of those great talents (among others) to choose them for anything on the “we need diversity” basis.
The insult isn’t limited – it applies to everyone who gets put in a category without being outraged. Unions, special-interest groups, and the like are ALL designed to hold down talented individuals while artificially supporting the least qualified. Same with minimum wage – it’s for the losers, not the winners.
I promise that everybody who criticizes Seinfeld for this interview hasn’t ever held the floor at a party with an improv comedy routine. They are jealous, pure and simple.

I salute them for not saying “for and about the Jewish people”. But seriously, Seinfeld, in his early days, transcended ethnic and color lines, which is why it was great comedy.

Seinfeld sinned greatly, and Gawker sought to punish him for it.
His sin was NOT racism or misogyny, but rather a failure to pay proper lip service and offer obeisance to the New Liberal Totem: Holy Diversity.

Comedy, like athletics, is not subject to forced diversity.
In comedy, if it’s not funny, it’s not funny. No laughs, no gigs. No gigs, no bucks. That’s a kind of Darwinism. No one will fake laughter just because they are pandering.
Athletics are the same.
You could probably add admission to medical school to the list but in our PC culture, athletics and comedy are more important that training competent doctors.

Then somebody better call the Wayans brothers and inform them that they are putting way too many black people in their comedy movies.
To be truly representative of America, they must fire some of their black actors and hire more white people!
First, if we are going to talk about diversity in comedy, then we probably have to cut down drastically on the Jewish comedians. Or, maybe move them into a minority category with Blacks, Hispanics, and Lesbians. That would bring the group number up, and remove the spotlight from all those Jewish comedians.
Secondly, sure, I still love Cosby, but most Black comedians are just not that funny to me, and, I suspect, to many Americans. Too foul mouthed, for one thing. That was one thing that Cosby was able to show, that being funny didn’t mean that you had to intersperse swear words. His comedy has always been clean, which is why you can let your small kids watch it.

There’s seems to be plenty kinds or “diversities” of stupid at Gawker: ‘diversifying’ comedians into racial bigots with the flip of a finger and few self-aggrandizing carriage-returns.
Now the SPLC will now have to put comedians on their Hate Watch list.
“Diversity” is code for “egalitarian.” And both words mean “let’s all be in denial at the same time.”
Bill Cosby is one of the funniest & cleanest comics I know of. I first saw him on “I Spy.” I later bought his LP “Why Is There Air.” I love his true-to-life humor.
Cosby indeed is great. I remember the original Cosby sit-com (the one in which he was a gym teacher) when I was growing up. That show truly was a laugh a minute.
Mr. Cosby can also be quite serious, and his serious thoughts are worth equal time to his comedy. He’s one smart person.
I suspect that Mr. Cosby and Mr. Seinfeld would agree on comedy: it’s either funny or it isn’t, and all the rest doesn’t matter.
Key phrase from Jerry at the end, that guaranteed this idiotic hit-piece: “….this PC nonsense….”
He’s Jewish, he’s a white male, and he thinks PC is nonsense. That’s 3 strikes to the hate-filled, racist, and bigoted leftists who “own” the language and control it, and DEMAND your kow-towing (uh oh – is THAT term racist, now?!) adherence to their interpretation of what is “okay.”

As many are talking about Bill Cosby, let me digress for a moment about him…..
During the mid-1960’s, when I was in elementary school in Montgomery County, MD (which was the #1 school system in the US at the time), I was introduced to Bill Cosby – on a record, “The Best of Bill Cosby” which we played during our in-classroom recess, on days when we couldn’t go outside for recess. The album was so funny, so popular, that we listened to it during our lunch period, as well (we had lunch in our classrooms, due to the crowding of our schools).
So, at the age of 7, we (nearly all white students) didn’t care about black or white – and this was in the so-called “troubled” 1960’S!! We didn’t care; we just knew he was funny. Oh, yes, indeed! – the amazing, incredible Bill Cosby was FUNNY…. Early skits like “Noah” and “Adam & Eve” (which would NEVER be allowed in a school today – even though his skits were not truly “Biblical”), as well as “Buck-buck,” “Old Weird Harold,” and of course, “Fat Albert” – became like dear friends to us. No one cared about the color of Bill Cosby’s skin. In fact, I don’t think anyone even thought about it; I know I didn’t, until it was pointed out, later on in my life.
On TV, I saw Bill Cosby on “I Spy” and later on in his first “Cosby” show, where he was a basketball coach teaching in a school. Great show, wonderful humor, and always, ALWAYS clean and family friendly.
Later, as stand-up comedy progressed (or DIgressed, depending on your opinion), Bill Cosby did mix things up with some minor foul language and drug references, but not much – and not for long. He always went back to what was REALLY funny – talking about his life: his wife, having children, how children behave, being a Dad getting a doctorate degree while raising a family, going to the dentist, his friends – you name it!
Most know him today from “The Cosby Show” (as my children do), which is both iconic and hilarious. Unfortunately, today his representation of an intact family on that show would be criticized, his lack of “diversity” of characters (spouses, boy/girl friends, etc.) would be considered passe and OUTRAGEOUS to these PC idiots.
I was blessed to see him perform live once, during the late 1980’s, and he was incredible!! I’ve never seen anyone who could sit in a chair with nothing but a microphone and yet be so hilariously funny!!
Bill Cosby is an American treasure. But, would he even be able to make it today with this nonsensical PC madness infecting everything? Could he ever have gotten on the air, gotten a show, or even been considered funny in this toxic climate, given the leftists who control media (both recorded and visual)? I would hope so, but I wonder.
PC and the left are poisoning our culture, destroying it more every day.

Cosby first made his name with . . . a religious bit. He had a long piece called “Noah” about the Bible story that was his first headliner, and made his first album (which was called “Bill Cosby Is A Very Funny Fellow – Right!” referencing the bit). Nobody even complained about it, they were too busy laughing. “Who is this really?”
Good on Seinfeld for not being a squish. The easy thing would have been to grovel and apologize for thirty seconds, faking a sincere devotion to celebrating diversity. He just spoke his mind. God love him! He’s the Jewish Phil Robertson!
Remember too, that Cosby and Robert Culp were in a show called, “I Spy” around the time he was making all those comedy albums. We all knew who Cosby was, and the consensus was that he was funny and could act.
