I don’t know if I can watch tonight.
The previews are absolutely horrifying.
Guess what will be a main topic of Obama's speech? "Women's issues!" http://t.co/B56N7YEHnn #drinkingalready

I’m going to turn off the ceiling lights, put on the strobe light, and pretend Richard Nixon still was president — which doesn’t take much pretending.

I will not be watching it. Since I ditched cable years ago, I have to voluntarily click on any video or livestream that features Barack and that is something I refuse to do willingly.
Does anyone have a copy of Nixon’s Checkers speech that could be viewed in lieu of watching the SOTU or as Rush terms it, the SOTC speech?
Nixon was a cub scout by comparison.
Nixon’s mother was a saint; Barry’s mother was just another white woman.
I was driving with my radio on, and the anchorman was talking about sotu. Son said: “mom, is there something for kids?”
Remember a time when you would find the President giving the state of the union address and you couldn’t find a channel without it? Ah, them were the days.
@Sanddog, I ditched the whole TV 15 years ago, life has been different.
I’m pretty sure we can just download a copy later when we’re sufficiently drunk enough to handle the Schadenfreude without hugging a porcelain God.
My idea is instead of JUST 4 GOP responses to the Imperial President….. let’s really piss him off and encourage everyday Americans to record and post their own rebuttals of the SOTU…… sort of our speaking our own middle finger to power.
It won’t do any good but I bet we’ll all feel better knowing we’re ruining the day for some poor son of a gun at the NSA that will be stuck watching them all just in case one of us was playing Greg Guttfield’s SOTU Drinking Games and let it all hang out.
It never occurred to me to watch. I’ve not seen a single speech of his in five years. Everything he’s ever said and ever will say publicly is a lie because it has to be — this is idelogically and politically predetermined.

“Women’s issues!” ??
Shirley You Jest.
I’m not tuning in. Damn sick and tired of this narcissistic bloviator.
and don’t call me Shirley.
Someone had to say it.
LMAO. Yes, yes indeed it had to be stated..
A classic line. Right up there with, “Take my wife … Please!”
SOTU is worth a good laugh, except it’s for real.
Sorry, but “women’s issues” sounds like something OB/GYNs would sit around and discuss ~
To be fair, GWB was also concerned with women’s issues:
“Too many OB/GYN’s aren’t able to practice their love with women all across the country.”
Lies and more lies from our Liar in Chief. No I won’t be watching the Dictator.
I am joining a friend in this: “I’m boycotting #SOTU in support of the millions of Americans who are conscientious objectors to forced Obamacare.”
It’s between watching 0 and watching paint dry … the paint won.
Psychedelic, dude!
I never knew the Butterfly drummer used timbales in his set.
As Pres. ScamWOW’s lie0thon, I ain’t got time.
Moreover, I don’t see anybody mic’ed with technology that existed then – the original lip-sync?
Nice throw-back there Professor. I havent listened to Iron Butterfly since my older brother took that LP off to college…
And that is extent of any worthy comment on last-nights imperial pageantry.
Yep, but it was a VERY good lip-sync.
There is a place during the drummer’s little “watch me shine” part where I know he is not doing what we are hearing, and it was likely double-tracked.
No question in my mind the whole thing was double-tracked – with many re-takes.
A far better song from that musical era – with the same goofy edited-in psychedelic crap – but without lip-sync and double tracking is Genesis’ The Cinema Show
I’m waiting until next year. Either the GOP takes the Senate and Barry goes all Mussolini, or he gets a democrat house and goes all Stalin. Either way it will be far more entertaining.
Can’t stomach Zero’s voice, so definitely not watching Zero’s STFU speech ~
Reagan’s were the last SOTU speeches of any significance. By the time he left office, it was no longer the national event it had been.
I can’t stand to listen to Obama. He’s not even that good at reading speeches. He’s glib like a two-bit street hustler, but I’ve yet to hear him say anything that was more than rhetorical device. No substance, no intelligence, no proposals, no inspiration.
This summarizes the “State of the Union” part of the speech and what he’s doing now (the economists here may want to overlook the cheery stock news in light of the tamp-down on interest rates):
(I took a nap and read Reuter’s transcript. A shockingly stupid speech.)
If I was the marketing manager for Preparation-H, I would have purchased a lot of commercial time before and after that speech.
The tie-in is perfect.
“Climate change is a fact”.. you heard from the president first! heh.
“Climate change is a fact”
Yeah. It’s called The Seasons.
BTW, it snowed in New Orleans. Yeah, NOLA. Check it out.
I did something better with my time.
Rather than hearing meaningless words from someone who should have never been given such power, I just did laundry.
I accomplished a lot more in that space of time than he did in his.
Furthermore, you made the world a cleaner, fresher and better place; while Obama stunk up the room with burning trousers.
I stopped watching this spectacle during the Clinton years and now I try to read the transcript — this is a lot quicker and much better on the vocal chords and blood pressure.
The best response I heard was a spontaneous one in a CSPAN-2 interview of Rep. Dana Rohrbacher. He nailed a couple of points and left no doubt where he stood.
For instance, he pointed to Obama’s wish to employ more Americans while moving to grant amnesty for illegals; also the unconstitutionality of acting without needed Congressional authority.
Maybe it was just tonight, but he seemed to have something like Ronald Reagan’s ability to communicate effectively. He was definitely personable.
I haven’t seen him mentioned as a Presidential contender, but he certainly struck the right chords.
Women’s Issues? Is Obama campaigning for Wendy Davis? Was he wearing pink sneakers?
The major issue women have with Obama is the income inequality that his 5 yr admin has promoted thus creating a lack of jobs for their husbands, their teenagers and for themselves.
Women/families are also hit by the ever increasing costs and the decreasing quality of Obamacare. And, don’t forget, the Obama-Maria Shriver-Wendy Davis’ desire to promote single parent “Superfeminist” homes were gov’t becomes the pimp.
Along the way, too, under Obama, the message of the Garden of Eden became very slurred unintelligible nonsense.
“Climate Change” … they had to rebrand from “global warming”, which actually meant “anthropogenic global warming”, which really means (exaggerated) warming is mostly driven by man’s CO2.
Included in the fraud, at no extra charge (you pay only the extra shipping and handling), is the assumption that a little warming and more CO2 is bad. I believe it would be and has been GOOD. Do we really need MORE frozen tundra? More CO2 means plants grow faster, which is why they elevate it in greenhouses.
News bites are too short to penetrate the deceptive label, so as the MFM fades to the break, challengers of the fraud are labeled “climate change deniers”, and scurried off set.
Wikipedia informs me:
So leave it to the leftists to create a weather control machine. Like Obamacare, it doesn’t need to work, it just needs to transfer money and power. Promised results always are scheduled beyond the next election, but payment is demanded up front.
In PC response, we have already unilaterally reduced American CO2 output, and are experimenting with “carbon sequestration” at incredible expense. Our enemies belch out unscrubbed coal soot and laugh at us. We scrub our coal emissions of real pollutants, but sequestering CO2 puts coal out of business, and freezes poor people.
Sequestering all that evil carbon into gravel is a natural process. Thank God we have plenty of limestone for our roads from previous global warming. Just look over, the white cliffs of Dover, to see nature at work, balancing the carbon. Why is Obama interfering with Mother Nature? Is the malignant left really that intent on destroying the shining city on the hill?
“More CO2 means plants grow faster, which is why they elevate it in greenhouses.”
Most of the greenies I’ve spoken with don’t go even this deep in their knowledge of atmospheric cycles. It’s like the scene in MP’s Holy Grail where the official is trying to explain about witches to the locals:
“Plants take in CO2 and it helps them, right?”
Right!
“And what do plants exhale, then? Any guesses?”
Crowd murmurs.
“Anybody?”
Butterflies!
“Plants do not exhale butterflies. They exhale oxygen. Do you see? Higher CO2 supports increased foliation, which in turn leads to higher output of oxygen into the atmosphere.”
There’s a large majority, I believe, of AGW believers who approach it emotionally and quite superficially. They trust the words of their priests and do not question the claims.
It is funny you chose “In a Gadda Da Vida.” My memory is that the original title and line was to be “In the Garden of Eden” but the singer mumbled or messed it up into “In a Gadda Da Vida.” How fitting, Obama gives us his idea of an American Garden of Eden, but to the average American, he is talking messed-up gobbldygook.
I love what Pat Sajak Tweeted: “Damn! Just about to settle in for SOTU when I remembered I haven’t watered my Chia Pets. Big collection. Will take time.” LOL!
Professor, I hope you played The Doors and Steppenwolf as well as the Iron Butterfly.
He speaks of ‘women’s issues’ as if women didn’t need jobs and a strong economy.
