I have a new post up at American Thinker entitled “Obama and Syria: Words versus Deeds”:
In trying to puzzle out what might be going on with President Obama’s muddled, non-strategic, and fundamentally “unserious” approach to Syria, it helps to remember that Obama believes that words are as good as deeds, perhaps even better — especially when those words are uttered by Obama. He has concluded that words serve a convincing purpose in the moment, that one utterance does not have to be consistent with the next to be credible and serve that purpose, and that none of it has to be followed up with action to be effective.
And why wouldn’t he? Words have gotten him to the pinnacle of the US presidency without deeds ever having been necessary…

“I’m Lebron, baby. I can play on this level. I got game.” —Barack Obama, 2004.
There you go.
That’s the “Obama Doctrine.”
He doesn’t need to practice. He’s a natural. He just needs to show up at game time and walk onto the court.
If one off-the-cuff ad-lib doesn’t get the opponent guarding him to jump, he’ll throw out another one until the sucker jumps, and then he’ll sink his jump shot.
Remember the 2 for 22 playground hoop supposed fiasco?
Sucker. You jumped and you don’t even know it.
LHC (who would only add, a little applause wouldn’t go amiss for the guy with the pencil and steno pad … aka, the league’s leader in assists)
With empty chairs words and deeds carry the same weight.
There is an image floating around that mocks Obama by Photoshopping his face onto the image of George C Scott in the opening scene of the movie Patton. I find that is is closing scene to that movie which may be more apt. It shows the character walking with only his dog. The voice over is of George S. Scott describing a Roman Triumph.
In the procession came trumpeters and musicians and strange animals from the conquered territories, together with carts laden with treasure and captured armaments. The conqueror rode in a triumphal chariot, the dazed prisoners walking in chains before him. Sometimes his children, robed in white, stood with him in the chariot, or rode the trace horses. A slave stood behind the conqueror, holding a golden crown, and whispering in his ear a warning: That all glory is fleeting.
Patton, for all his faults, had slef knowledge and perspective. Obama has none. He really does seem to have believed all the hype. Narcissists do not deal well hen confronted with the reality that they are far from the center of the known universe.
Fasten your seat belts. America is in for a bumpy night.
Just words. Just speeches. They count more than deeds. When you believe that just by showing up and extemporising you can achieve great things, that’s all you do. Talk. Just words. Just speeches.
More evidence that Obama is a Third World president of a First World country. Grandiose pronouncements at typical of largely unserious countries.
For Obama deeds always get in the way of words.
To a Marxist (in a long line of the tragic philosophies of governance of “true believers”) words are more true than reality. Reality which is variant to words is suppressed, hidden or destroyed.
