Hasan had been charged with 13 premeditated counts and an additional 32 attempted premeditated counts of murder. Today’s verdict means that Hasan will face the death penalty.

In order for Hasan to face the death penalty, the jury’s 11 men and two women had to find him unanimously guilty of at least one count of premeditated murder as well as another murder charge. The military court system hasn’t executed an active-duty U.S. soldier since 1961.
Hasan — who acted as his own attorney — is accused of killing 13 people and wounding more than 30 others at the sprawling Texas military base in November 2009. But he declined to call any witnesses, testify in his own defense or give a closing argument during his trial.
Standby defense attorneys tried to be removed from the case, citing Hasan’s strategy to argue for his own death sentence as an ethical conflict. But the judge disagreed and ordered attorneys to remain on the case while Hasan continued to represent himself.
On the eve of his trial, Hasan released documents from his 2010 sanity board hearing in which he stated, “I am on the wrong side…I am Muslim first…I have to help my Muslim brothers overseas…the wars (in Iraq and Afghanistan) are wars against Islam.”
Jurors will decide whether or not to impose the death penalty. Sentencing is scheduled to begin on Monday.

With the degree of Command Influence in this case, one has to wonder what sentence the Court Martial has been ordered to impose.
And if, somehow, it is the death sentence; will Obama either commute or pardon?

The person who needs to get the death penalty for this is whoever allowed this guy to stay in the service after hearing him spout off like he did. Also, those responsible for disarming troops on our bases have blood on their hands.
I was appalled to learn that Army bases are essentially gun free zones thanks to a Clinton administration policy. A few terrorists with the proper weapons could wipe out an entire base without fear of being shot back at until someone could run and break out the weapons. They would suffer more casualties attacking the typical mall than they would an Army base because the people there are better armed!
Every time you think things can’t become any more absurd than they already are the progressives come up with another bright idea.
When I was in the Army back in the 80’s and early 90’s we weren’t armed on base either. The MP’s were armed at the entrance points and on patrol like the local police. So no an Army base isn’t any better armed than your local suburban neighborhood most days. Main difference is nobody conceal carries on base. Being posted in a war zones is different but nobody would consider Fort Hood a war zone.
That is good information. Do you know the specifics of what Clinton changed because I have seen that referred to in several places?
I know I am an odd duck, but it seems to me when you are at war with an entity whose main strategy is terrorism and asymmetrical warfare that you would be foolish to ever let your guys go unarmed, even on base in the US.

Another lesson of Vietnam forgotten.
That is one of the things the military did in response to the VC. All uniformed personnel had at least a issue side arm AT ALL TIMES.
No one knew when the VC would act or who the VC infiltrators were.
Two Reasons for the Unarmed Soldiers :
First —
A legacy of Vietnam.
Armed groups of drafted / conscripted citizens would often get into firefights with the Military Police on base. ( They did not want to be shipped out. )
Second —
Liberal / Progressive paranoia over Soldiers with weapons and ammo on hand.
During my duty time spent at Fort Hood, several robberies took place.
One car, two male civilians, a .22 cal revolver, held up several National Guard companies on their 2 week ATs. They carted off about 200+ M16s. No ammo to shoot back permitted. ( early 90’s )
Do not forget the Army Tank stolen in California a while back. ( Yes, that happens at Fort Hood too. )
The Lesson —
The Military is not permitted to guard its own weapons.
The draftee army must have gotten really screwy. I would imagine the new army is much more professional.
“No guns on base” for the troops goes back to about 1970, minimum. It was not enforced very well, or at all, in Florida, but that was the regulation.
IIRC, there was a fuss about allowing firearms in the married officers’ housing on base as well.
Seems to me there was a gunfight between the perimeter guards and those guarding the bunkers, both armed (that caused some amusement), but no one was armed on the rest of the base that I can recall.
My Dad was in the Army during the Korean War and the Sergeant locked up everything at night.
Normally, I would be in favor of capital punishment. But since this puke is angling to get himself executed so he can be a martyr for “Allah,” let him rot behind bars for the rest of his natural life. And to make it more interesting for him, assign him to slop the hogs.
Life also means him dodging further ‘workplace violence’ in the federal/military prison system. Works for me.
I would suggest ADX Florence. That will keep him from getting messages out and prevent media interviews.

The problem there is that sooner or later innocents will be killed as his fellow jihadists try to force his release. Other than that, I agree.
Imagine if the US was a small country that was dependent on the help of a larger one. I assume then this larger country would force the US to release Hassan to grease the way for peace talks with Al Kaida.

Clearly the lesson learned here is that if you’re going to have a military installation, you’d better have a few women on the local police force nearby. They’re the first and last line of defense in case of attack.

One last thing: that statement pretty much covers anything you might think, feel, say, or do that might negatively impact on Muslims, Islam, and the Koran.
Happily for us, Amy, the 57 Muslims (one from every state) who have signed up for the march, will be met by the 2,000,000 Biker March on DC for 9/11 … until the folks in DC refuse to grant the 2MBM a permit.

He will get the death penalty, and he will still outlive many of us.
Even if he gets the death penalty it will likely be some time before it is carried out. Until then I think Hasan and Manning should be bunkmates. Hasan can spend mornings counseling Manning on that gender issue and then afternoons converting him to Islam. By the time Manning gets out on parole he can be called whatever the Arabic equivalent is to Chelsea and join the Muslim community.
Frankly, lethal injection is too good for this guy. Since we can’t have a public hanging with pretzel vendors, I suggest a bolt gun. Quick, painless and for animals.
I would like to bring the rack back. A good operator could keep him alive in excruciating pain for a couple of days. 😉
