Good thing John Kerry is in Israel pressuring Israel to accept as a precondition to negotiations a return to the 1949 armistice lines with minor modifications.
That precondition is being held firmly by Mahmoud Abbas, who weekly receives encouragement, including the recent decision by the EU not to enter into any contracts with Israel that involve entities over the 1949 armistice lines. That includes the Jewish Quarter of the Old City and the Western Wall, as well as many Jewish religious and historical sites.
That’s a prescription for security disaster, because the Israelis need to deal with people like this guy preaching on the Temple Mount (which stands atop the Western Wall) (via Times of Israel):

A video that was posted on the Internet on July 12, and translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), shows Al-Hammouri inciting the crowd in the Old City with calls to conquer and destroy the enemies of the “Nation of Islam.”
“We warn you, oh America: Take your hands off the Muslims. You have wreaked havoc in Syria, and before that, in Afghanistan and in Iraq, and now in Egypt,” shouted the cleric to the enthusiastic replies of the crowd. “Who do you think we are, America? We are the nation of Islam — a giant and mighty nation, which extends from east to west. Soon, we will teach you a political and military lesson, Allah willing. Allah Akbar. All glory to Allah.” …
Al-Hammouri, … belongs to the Jerusalem-based Pan-Islamic Hizb ut-Tahrir (Party of Liberation) organization ….
Hizb ut-Tahrir was founded in 1953 and has an estimated million members across 40 countries.

It’s the same old, same old message of hatred that’s being spewed from countless mosques throughout the US. Are we paying attention? No. Not in the least.
Normally I agree with a lot of what you say. This comment indicates you haven’t much real knowledge of Muslim immigrants in this country. Sure there is a small minority of nutcases, who demand, and get from our whorish media, news coverage (think CAIR, et al ad nauseum) but the majority of the actual people, and their less famous mosques, came here for a reason. That reason was to escape the very think going on in the middle east previously and right now. They came here to escape. If we fail to defeat the lunatics, as Sec of State Kerry seems determined to assure that we do fail, they will consider themselves the first victims, not the victors.
Full disclosure: I live in a 90% Arab Muslim community, the largest in the USA. I am also a rabid supporter of Israel, who can produce witnesses to that if necessary (one known by the Professor)and have posted the borders I believe are correct which is the 1922 San Remo Accord as amended to include all of the original “Jewish Palestine” as segregated from Trans-Jordan, Arab Palestine. I even posted a map of it here this week. I have had conversations with my neighbors, dozens upon dozens by now, on this very subject. Funny thing, Lebanese, Iraqi, Yemenie, etc. folks don’t much give a rat’s tinker about the “West Bank” or “politican Islam.”
On 11 September 2001, while I was still working for the U S Army, and every neighbor knew it…I came home early in the afternoon when we closed the federal building and sent everyone home. I was immediately greeted by neighbors in tears, apologizing, and saying “that thing which we fled has follow us here, and we are so sorry for that.”
I’ve lived in a few other countries and I’ve always found the same phenomena…the regular folks aren’t all that different that us, raising families, working, looking for a brighter tomorrow. They too have resented their own kind who sought to rule them. That applies event to those who at one time I was sent out to kill, and they me.
When some fringe kooks like David Koresh or the Westboro Baptists do horrible things, the majority of Christians go out of our way to make sure everyone knows they don’t represent us.
If as you claim the vast majority of muslims here oppose the radicals, they manage to keep a strangely low profile about it. If this is some strategy to defeat the extremists with silence, at what point do you recognize it is not working?
I’d call it “fear” more than any strategy. They are now living in a country when our government leaders carry on like John Kerry or Hillary Clinton before him. They fear their own and they fear us.
In one nation I spent some hostile time in, the rural folks figured that “freedom” was a good day defined as one in which no one shot at at them or killed their buffalo, not us, not their own government, and not the insurgent guerrillas, and not invading northerners. Nobody.
We ask a lot of immigrants to rise up, so to speak, when the media, both television and print, seems drawn to the radicals, attracted to them actually.
I realize my view is a narrow one, honed by my own experiences elsewhere and here. My outlook of vigilance kept me alive in a time where all you had was the man on your left and the man on your right. You took to protect them. And the habit is formed.
Another factor is – who will listen to them? The media decides who represents the community, and they pick organizations like CAIR, former out of Hamas. Remember the hearing, when courageous Muslims spoke out? How ere they treated?

The only thing I would question is that from what I read your average US Moslem believes things that aren’t so, like that there was a massacre in Jenin. With our media, can one blame them?
I’m Jewish. And, an old lady, now. Until the Saudis destroyed ALL the local imams who were in charge of all the local mosques, Islam was not terrifying. It was the opposite. A place where neighbors could congregate. And, no matter where in the world they were, they had safe community centers.
The Sauds destroyed this! They started by scaring away the local imams, and replacing them with terrorist imams! That’s how the saud’s grabbed up Islam for its own nefarious purposes.
Then you got the sauds to buy up the Bush family. And, you can see how influencial the sauds became because those they bought climbed higher and higher.
So far no one has presented the sauds with a bill.
And, America’s islamic communities? TERRIFIED! Oh, boy. You should look at what happened in academia, where going after Israel is considered an “affirmation of freedom.” By stinkers who can’t even compute.
Do you know what academia was like in the old days? Just falling back to the 1950’s, if you didn’t have 2 languages under your belt (Latin, and/or German or French), your application to an Ivy was rejected.
In high schools across America Academic students could work a slide rule. They could do Algebra, Trig, and Calculus. Or they wouldn’t be accepted into an Ivy (unless they were “legacy” connected.) Jews always had to fight to get a top spot. And, today? It’s the Asians who have to work harder, and smarter. To obtain one of those baubles called “sheepskin” from an Ivy.
We’re all a long way from home, now.
They also put a lot of money into American Academia. Ever hear of a Junior Arab League? Yes, High School students making believe they’re Arab countries figuring out what to do about Israel. And, of course, they pay off their our ambassadors after the leave office.
The sooner the US gets independent of Saudi oil, the better.

I’m still waiting for someone to tell me what is so sacrosanct about the 1949 borders, which were the result of Israel’s War of Independence and enclosed more territory that the UN’s borders of 1948 between Israel and Jordan. The fact of the matter is, the Arabs do not believe Israel should exist at all. Agreeing to these land deals give them what they could not get via illegal aggression and only serve to jeapordize Israel’s existence further. Stated differently, this “plan” is another ruse which will not ever result in peace, because that is not what Israel’s enemies want. They will never want peace as long as there are Israelis.
