McConnell Out of Hospital, Not ‘Medically Cleared’ to Return to Senate

McConnell Out of Hospital, Not ‘Medically Cleared’ to Return to Senate

The Office of the Attending Physician pointed out that McConnell’s “bout with childhood polio” has hampered his mobility, meaning he’ll take longer to recover.

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) shared that he has left the hospital but must continue physical therapy and rehabilitation.

Due to the restrictions, McConnell won’t attend the annual Fancy Farm picnic, where Kentucky politicians address citizens and mingle.

From the press release:

I’m still working hard to get back to my full schedule of work in the Senate and in Kentucky, keeping up with intense physical therapy per my doctors’ orders. Unfortunately, that means I won’t be able to make it to Fancy Farm, Kentucky this Saturday.

There’s no place I’d rather be on the first Saturday in August than with the good people of western Kentucky, feasting on pork and mutton,” he continued. “When I first attended forty-two years ago, Fancy Farm was a pretty lonely place to be a Republican. But, my, how times have changed. Today, western Kentucky is a conservative Republican sea of red. So I hate that I’ll miss the fun this year, but I’m sending my best wishes to the St. Jerome community for a successful picnic.

As always, I appreciate all of your continued well wishes, and I’m looking forward to getting back to the Senate and to Kentucky soon.

The Office of the Attending Physician (OAP) confirmed McConnell’s release, but stressed he cannot return to work yet as he “continues his recovery from a fall at home in June.”

“OAP physicians visit with the senator every day, discussing all aspects of his rehabilitation care,” the OAP stated, as reported by Fox News. “Since his discharge from hospital care, he has maintained a strenuous course of physical therapy and rehabilitation, including multiple sessions a day designed to rebuild strength and reduce the risk of future falls.”

The office pointed out that McConnell’s “bout with childhood polio” has hampered his mobility, meaning he’ll take longer to recover.

McConnell caused quite a stir after disappearing from the Senate in mid-June.

The senator’s office did not update the public until July 12 after Gov. Andy Beshear demanded answers.

“My doctors have confirmed that I didn’t break any bones or suffer a concussion,” McConnell said at the time. “I didn’t have a heart attack or a stroke. I don’t have any tumors or hemorrhages. But I was briefly unconscious and was taken to the hospital. While receiving excellent care over the past several weeks, I’ve also had to deal with a mild case of pneumonia.”

That photo looks as fake as the other one. BTW, in his original press release didn’t he state he was already in rehab? This letter states he is only now being discharged from the hospital and entering rehab. Somehow this doesn’t pass the smell test either, and August 4th is but a week away…stay tuned for another press release!

It’s possible to begin rehab in hospital, and then to continue rehab after being discharged. Not sure I’m reading anything in the article that would indicate a clear discrepancy between the two accounts (the press release and McConnell’s message).

By the End of the Week, it will be too late for a replacement election. If he is really incapacitated, look for him to resign / retire then.

Mitch is eager to get back to work enabling his leftist friends across the aisle. He’ll get in some last minute work for the ChiComs as well.

A patriot would resign to allow someone more physically capable and healthy enough for regular attendance to take his place. He does neither his State, nor the Senate, nor the country any favors by insisting on returning to work.

He may not want to trigger a legal issue about his replacement and is trying to hang on until Andy Barr (presumably) can win the election. The Ky state legislature passed a law passing senator picks to them and removing from the Governor ( a Democrat). Beshear (the governor) has said it is unconstitutional and promised to fight it. Not sure how it would be legislated, but maybe better for McConnell to hold on and allow the election to take its course.

I didn’t think a senator could delegate proxies.

Good for him. RESIGN

“Not ‘Medically Cleared’ to Return to Senate”

I’m sure his constituency continues to feel well-represented.
    Doctors Orders Uber Alles!

‘Out of hospital’ is doing a lot of obfuscating in this headline.

Ima suggest shenanigans. McConnell ain’t coming back to DC until after labor day …if then. I suspect the goal is to get past the date where the Gov would be able to call a special election to.select a replacement. News reports out of KY suggest that mark is 56 days prior to Nov 3 due to the various automatic strictures/mechanics of a special election. IOW they gonna prop McConnell up till Sept 10th (just to make sure) and then as Drago said to Rocky ‘if he dies, he dies’. Its cold, hard, utilitarian world in politics where the fall from hero to zero can be very rapid b/c no one gives a hoot for anything but gaining and maintaining power with the possible exception of stabbing a rival in the back just for spite even after you’ve lost fair/square.

I’m getting a “Weekend At Bernie’s” kind of vibe from that picture.

The man should have retired a long time ago. We don’t need old and senile people from either party. The life of corruption and bribes is probably hard to let go of. Take your communist cow and go home Mitch.

Not clear from the article if he is having inpatient rehab (staying at a rehab facility), skilled nursing rehab (staying at a SNF), or outpatient rehab at home. Not that it matters a lot for the rehab angle, but inpatient care implies that he’s not ready for home.

The old movie “Weekend at Bernie’s” comes to mind…except it’s much more serious and not funny that this guy doesn’t immediately step aside for the good of the country.

Returning to work in a wheelchair no doubt, with staff voting for him; the shade of Dianne Feinstein.
