Israel Launches Retaliatory Strikes on Iran After Missile Barrage

The Iranian regime media confirms Israeli strikes in Tehran, Tabriz, Isfahan, Iran, and Karaj — cities associated with the nuclear program and missile storage sites.

Update: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced Monday evening that Israel would suspend its counteroffensive against Iran, but vowed to renew military action should Tehran or its terror proxies carry out further attacks against Israel.

The Times of Israel reported:

In his first public remarks since renewed fighting against Iran erupted last night, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he will halt attacks on Iran “for now,” while stressing that the fight against both Tehran and Hezbollah is “not over” and that Israel will continue to respond to any attacks on its territory.

“After Iran attacked Israel” in support of Hezbollah following Israel’s retaliatory strikes on the group in Beirut, “I directed the IDF to strike military and economic targets throughout Iran,” Netanyahu says in an apparently pre-recorded Hebrew-language video statement.

In response to overnight Iranian ballistic missile attacks, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) struck military targets across Iran, including Tehran, on Monday morning.

“A short while ago, the Israeli Air Force struck military targets belonging to the Iranian terror regime in western and central Iran. Details to follow,” the IDF confirmed in a brief statement.

The Iranian regime media confirmed Israeli strikes on cities associated with the nuclear weapons program and missile storage sites. “Iranian state TV reported there were explosions in multiple cities, including Tehran, Tabriz, Isfahan and near Karaj. Local authorities in Isfahan said there were no casualties, but no details have emerged from other parts of the country,” BBC reported. “Tehran’s Fire Department said there were at least two explosions in western parts of the Iranian capital, but no urban parts of the capital have been targeted in the strikes.”

Israel also targeted the Iranian port city of Mahshahr, the regime’s biggest oil production hub. The IDF confirmed Israel struck a petrochemical facility in Mahshahr in southwestern Iran in response to the attacks,” the Israeli TV channel i24NEWS reported.

The IDF revealed that it was targeting air defense systems in western and central Iran, a move set to secure the Iranian skies for Israeli fighter jets. The Israeli Air Force completed an “extensive” wave of airstrikes on Iranian air defense systems a short while ago,” The Times of Israel reported later in the morning.

IDF on ‘high alert’ as top generals oversee retaliatory strikes

Shortly following the first Iranian salvo, Israel’s military chief of staff, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, had assured that the armed forces were ready to strike back “the moment the green light is given” by the country’s political leadership. On Sunday night, U.S. and Israeli media reported that President Trump was expected to call Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to “tell him not to retaliate.”

President Trump tells “both sides” to restore ceasefire

Meanwhile, President Trump on Monday morning reiterated his call for “both sides” to restore the ceasefire. The negotiations with Iran were in their “final” stages, he wrote on Truth Social.

The IDF chief and top military generals were overseeing the retaliatory strikes. “IDF Chief of the General Staff and senior IDF commanders are currently commanding the IDF strikes in Iran from the command center of the Israeli Air Force,” the Israeli military said hours after the first retaliatory strike.

“Over the past hours, the IDF Chief of the General Staff, LTG Eyal Zamir and senior IDF commanders conducted situational assessments and are currently commanding the IDF strikes in Iran from the Israeli Air Force command center,” the military announced Monday morning.

The country’s armed forces were “on high alert” and “fully prepared to continue operations across all arenas against those who threaten Israel,” the IDF vowed.

Iran continues missile strikes, Yemen’s Houthis join war

Iran renewed missile fire on Monday morning, with its Yemen-based proxy Houthi terrorists joining the attack. “Sirens sounded across central and southern Israel as Iran launched a second wave of attacks on Monday morning, following an earlier missile launched by Yemen’s Houthis,” the Jerusalem Post confirmed.

The Houthis boasted of firing missiles, and declared that they were going to blockade the Strait of Bab el-Mandeb, a major maritime choke point that connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea. The Islamic terrorist group has been using these blockades to target Western-owned ships in the region. “Yemen’s Houthi rebels announced Monday that they were reinstating what they described as a naval blockade on Israel and closing the strategic Bab el-Mandeb Strait to Israeli shipping, while also claiming responsibility for missile attacks launched earlier in the day,” Ynetnews reported.

While the IDF strikes were focused at military sites, Iran was indiscriminately targeting Israeli population centers. “Several houses were damaged in one of the communities in Samaria in the West Bank from a ballistic missile Monday morning as Iran continued launching attacks towards Israel since Sunday night, triggering sirens throughout the country and sending thousands of Israelis to their shelters,” the i24NEWS added.

UPDATE: Israel, Iran halt strikes following Trump’s ceasefire push

According to initial reports on Monday at noon, Iran has announced an halt to strikes shortly after President Trump post on Truth Social calling for the restoration of the ceasefire.

Following Iran’s announcements, Israel also suspended it counterstrike. According to the Times of Israel, “Israel has decided to halt its strikes against Iran, an Israeli official says.

“Separately, an Israeli official tells Hebrew media outlets that the decision came at the request of US President Donald Trump,” the news website added.

Amid relentless rocket and drone attacks from Hezbollah, Israel will carry on with the military operation against the Iranian proxy terrorist group in Lebanon, Defense Minister Israel Katz said.

The Times of Israel reports:

In the first official comments from an Israeli official on the ceasefire with Iran, Defense Minister Israel Katz says the military will continue to operate against Hezbollah in Lebanon and strike Beirut if the terror group attacks Israel.

“Dahiyeh in Beirut will be treated the same as the northern communities,” Katz says, referring to the Hezbollah stronghold in southern Beirut.

“Any attack on the northern communities will lead to an attack in Dahiyeh. The IDF will continue to operate in Lebanon against the Hezbollah terror organization,” he says.

One side effectively targeting and eliminating military targets; the other ineffectively launching a few missiles at random civilian targets. It seems that there are desperate elements in the Iran terror regime that believes prolonging this conflict and hastening their country’s demise to be in their best interests for some reason. Maybe, in their broken little minds, they believe they’re creating a larger conflict, counting on the usual reaction of our irresponsible media to misrepresent reality? Or maybe they’re hoping for the democrats to eventually bail them out? Not really sure to be honest.

One of the components of “terror” is randomness and its main goal is direct political impact, not military advantage or political leverage gained thereby, so the Iranian missile strikes are not inconsistent with the country’s use of terror.

Perhaps Trump will now realize the shear futility of trying to negotiate with the Iranian regime and will finally do what is necessary to bring this conflict to and end. But I doubt it. He’s all just talk, talk, talk and yah, yah, yah in his desperate attempt to notch up another peace deal for his Nobel Prize list no matter who suffers the collateral damage.

agree on this that its more about either the pleasing of the non pleasable wont get the gop anymore votes come election time, “moderate” dems and/or his own vanity as he must know that the islamos arent going to cease their death to israel /america within the next 4 centuries

well that is until they takeover america and that countdown has already started

DaveGinOly in reply to Lucifer Morningstar. | June 8, 2026 at 12:07 pm

Funny that you say he’s “all talk” while others have accused him of starting this war. Which is it? Or did he “start the war” just by talking?

ztakddot in reply to DaveGinOly. | June 8, 2026 at 12:38 pm

Well his war with the democrats started by his talking,

Lucifer Morningstar in reply to DaveGinOly. | June 8, 2026 at 4:55 pm

He started a fecking war with Iran with the TruthSocial statement, “there will be no deal with Iran except UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!” and then “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again.” and then didn’t have the balls to go through with it. Still hasn’t found the balls yet, either. And now the U.S. is bogged down in pointless, worthless talk, talk, talk and yah, yah, yah negotiations with whatever is left of the Iranian regime which has no intention of ever coming to an agreement with the Trump administration. Sad part is that even if they do come to some kind of agreement the Iranian regime will quickly violate the terms of that agreement knowing full well Trump will do nothing. So it’s well past time that Trump does what is necessary to end the war with Iran in a manner that will permanently preclude them from ever being a problem again. But of course, if he did that he might not get his coveted Nobel Peace Prize™ and that would be bigly bad for him.

      TL;dr

He started the war with Iran and now doesn’t have the balls to do what is necessary to end the war and is bogged down talking to the enemy who has no incentive or reason to listen to him.

While I’d agree with the lack of conviction and follow through demonstrated so far by the Trump Admin ….he didn’t ‘start a war’ with Iranian regime.

The Iranian regime has been in a prolonged conflict of THEIR making since ’79. Sometimes hot, sometimes cold, sometimes asymmetrical, sometimes conventional sometimes directly and sometimes through proxies or under the radar.

We OWE the Iranian regime a thorough butt kicking, far more so than has been delivered for the Embassy, for Beirut, the Cole, for decades of terrorist attacks v US Citizens, for their active engagement v US Forces in Iraq and a lesser extent in Afghanistan and many other reasons besides those.

IMO the next thing we need to hear from the Iranian regime is that they unconditionally surrender. Summon their Ambassador every day at noon Eastern time and if they don’t deliver the surrender and then legit follow through announcement on Iranian Media then combat operations go ahead as planned. Keep dropping ordinance until no building stands if that’s what it takes. Some folks only learn the hard way.

Iran renewed missile fire on Monday morning,

then…

Iran said to be halting strikes…

What a joke.

Since Trump won’t, Benjamin, keep jammin’.

Like I said in the other heavily thumb downed post:

djt made a huggggeee tactical error by allowing(?) his demeaning call to netayahoo to be leaked (?) and telling yahoo not to retaliate

iran is neverrrrrrrrr going to not do what they want unless they just dont exist anymore and their proxies are up for the fight

    Virginia42 in reply to destroycommunism. | June 8, 2026 at 11:04 am

Does make me wonder, tough. Netanyahu and Trump love to troll the media by leaking “argument” and “disagreement” calls that turn out to be nonsense. I still wonder what is *really* happening and am somewhat concerned Trump is still listening to people who think we can “get a deal” out of this.

I think it was a ploy , put together by Trump and bibi to fool the Iranians before the strike

DaveGinOly in reply to gonzotx. | June 8, 2026 at 12:09 pm

Whether or not it was a ploy, I’ve long said that people make the mistake of listening to what Trump says rather than paying attention to what he does. Maybe he and Bibi are playing “good cop/bad cop.”

CommoChief in reply to DaveGinOly. | June 8, 2026 at 3:27 pm

The problem with arguments of ‘believe what he does not what he says’ is that it tells us nothing he says can be trusted. I’d define it to apply the caveat of ‘when Trump uses ambiguous phrasing’. However when he uses precise/unambiguous, language and explicit statements that he/the USA are gonna do ‘X’ ….then I expect to see ‘X’.

this was what someone said on

09 12 2001:

hey I know

lets give them nyc and they wont destroy it again and then we can give them some small towns so they wont destroy those either and then we can live happily ever after

25 years later…………..

omar tlaib mamdummi aoc warren sanders newsom and allll the rest are cheating and pounding away at americas core

so israel has it figured out that that is the truth and wont allow it to happen to them

“This business will get out of control. It will get out of control and we’ll be lucky to live through it.” – Admiral Josh Painter, quote from the movie Hunt for Red October

I did not vote for this war with Iran. No one did, but now that we’re in this shttpile, I want the USA to win decisively, and our troops safely home.

But Hormuz is schrodinger’s strait; it’s both open and closed. Iran is both obliterated and empowered with missles, drones, and apparently, a ghost fleet raised by pirates of the caribbean to control the strait of schrodinger while ballistic missles rain down on the mideast as negotiations are on but also off with no end in sight.

WTH are we doing here??

    destroycommunism in reply to LB1901. | June 8, 2026 at 10:39 am

we didnt vote for this war with iran

wellll. thats debatable …maybe not directly but we allll knew that trump is pro america and we all know that anything/one that tries to interfere with freedom should be met with a greater force to stop them

iran has always been in the news and the threat to the world has always been known

the whole fjb /obmamama russia hoax >>challenging ukraine to become nato etc let us know that the war powers were even hotter once all that that was simmering under would boil over

israel has taken a pounding that could have been taken care of decades ago,, but as we see even with pro israel trump,,,potus put a stop to….

no,, I think we could see that enemies of freedom were in our crosshairs vs the placating wishy-washy lefty agend that we even see in our schools…give in to the criminals and maybeee they will leeave us alone

    never works

the only real problem is we are not willing to total the places where the enemy resides

and now we have to worry about those type of places closer to home what with ny /nyc and towns all across america in the way of the islamictakeover

      Virginia42 in reply to destroycommunism. | June 8, 2026 at 11:05 am

Iran “voted for this war” in 1979. We’ve just been pretending not to notice for f*ck knows how long.

        DaveGinOly in reply to Virginia42. | June 8, 2026 at 12:23 pm

Back when G. W. Bush said “We are not fighting a holy war,” I wrote, “If your opponent is fighting a holy war, then you’re in a holy war whether you like it or not.” This applies here too, even if one ignores the Islamist nature of Iran’s regime and its war with the West. Iran believes it’s in a war with the West (incl. the US), so the West is in a war with Iran, and the West has little to say in the matter.

CommoChief in reply to destroycommunism. | June 8, 2026 at 3:32 pm

Enemies of freedom…when did W Bush get back into the WH to.set policy?

If somebody somewhere wants some freedom they should go get it/preserve it for themselves. It isn’t the responsibility of the USA to provide it for them. Nation building, neocon/corporatist/globalism crescendo has already come and gone.

    DaveGinOly in reply to LB1901. | June 8, 2026 at 12:19 pm

“I did not vote for this war with Iran.”
    No? Two principles of MAGA:

    1. America first
    2. No new wars

The war does not violate either of these principles. The war has been fought, on and off (mostly “off”), for 47 years. It is not a “new” war. And a decision to put an end to it is arguably in line with the first principle. So, yes, you did vote for it, or at least you misunderstood how these principles might apply with regard to Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons and long range ballistic missiles.

“Tousi TV on the air tonight as Israel with the help of the U.S. hits more targets in Iran: “President TRUMP does this dance with Netanyahu: ‘Don’t strike Lebanon!’ “Oh no, we won’t!’ and the Iranians and the world fall for it every time!”

Tousi shows an Iranian missile killing the sand in the desert! 😉

“Not a good day for the IRGC!” 🙂“

DaveGinOly in reply to gonzotx. | June 8, 2026 at 12:34 pm

Iranian missile accuracy is not to be sneezed at. Because Iran is developing its missiles to deliver nuclear weapons, and because it plans to use them for terror (against area targets, like cities, rather than point targets, like specific buildings or facilities), the missiles don’t need to be particularly accurate. So while they’re carrying conventional explosives they’re not very effective (but, again – see my comment above – “effective” for purposes of terror is different from “militarily effective”), but if Iran is ever able to put nuclear warheads on them they will be terrible weapons, indeed. The Iranians have limited resources due to sanctions. Maybe they don’t have the resources to spare to improve the accuracy of their missiles. They likely understand that missile accuracy isn’t, at this time, a priority, and that once they have nuclear weapons missile accuracy won’t be a concern. So missile accuracy may suffer now because resources are being expended on the nukes knowing that once they have them missile accuracy won’t be a concern.

So much for the US being the tail of the Israel dog. Of course the nutjob antisemites will just say this is the Rothchild’s other Jewish oligarchs and the Mossad controlling Trump, Jews are devious they will say.

I’m not sure I would like to be either Trump’s foe or ally. It must get exhausting dealing with him
