Erika Kirk Delivers Commencement Address at Hillsdale College
“As you continue forward in life, I want you to kind of embrace the similar blueprint of my husband, where he loved to point out that God made us purposeful beings and continue forward in life with clarity and intention”
Erika Kirk, the head of Turning Point USA, gave the commencement address at Hillsdale College this weekend, the country’s most well-known right-leaning institution of higher education.
It is important to highlight this because, as we have pointed out many times over the years, these speaking engagements go overwhelmingly to Democrats and figures of the far left.
Frankly, it is also nice to see Ms. Kirk smiling for a change.
The New York Post has details:
Erika Kirk urges graduates to follow in her husband’s footsteps: ‘Defend liberty’
Charlie Kirk’s widow Erika called on the next generation of Christian scholars to follow in her husband’s footsteps and pursue truth and “defend liberty” during her commencement speech at Hillsdale College Saturday.
Even though a twisted assassin took his life, her husband’s spirit endures, the Turning Point USA CEO told the graduates.
“Through his learning, Charlie was better able to recognize his duty to pursue truth and to defend liberty, and this responsibility he felt to God. He felt it for our family, to our country, and that was born from what he learned.”
She implored Hillsdale College’s 400-person graduating class to uphold those traditional values as they enter the workforce and to marry one another young.
“As you continue forward in life, I want you to kind of embrace the similar blueprint of my husband, where he loved to point out that God made us purposeful beings and continue forward in life with clarity and intention,” she said.
“And you will come to understand that life is not defined by the abundance of options, but by the weight of the choices that you make within them. And those choices, more often than not, are not dramatic or obvious, but quiet and compounding, forming the blueprint of your life long before anyone else can see what you are building.”
Kirk, 37, kicked off her speech with a story about her and Charlie Kirk’s honeymoon, which they both agreed would be a “disconnected” vacation, meaning no computers or cell phones.
Here’s a clip from the speech:
You can watch her entire speech below. This video is cued to start at the 27:45 mark:
I am sure Charlie would be proud.

Good! A clean dignified event where the speaker was positive and the audience was receptive.
Yes it is great to see a smile on her face
Candace Owen’s can eat my grits
What a horrible being she is
That quote does not redound to her benefit. Somebody should have cleaned up her valley girl prose. It’s not her fault. She needs better support.
Well, at least there are two colleges left in the US where she won’t be shouted down.
Anyone who has direct contact with Erika, please tell her to refer to Charlie as Charlie, not “my husband” or anything else. We all knew and loved Charlie. He was fearless, honest, and one of a kind. He absolutely was her husband, and a good one. But he was Charlie to everyone. That’s a stronger connection with those who loved and supported Charlie and his work.
