Trump Evacuated to a Holding Room After Shots Fired at White House Correspondents Association Dinner

“Quite an evening in D.C. Secret Service and Law Enforcement did a fantastic job. They acted quickly and bravely. The shooter has been apprehended.”

According to reports, at the evening’s White House Correspondents Dinner (WHCA), shots were fired, and President Trump was evacuated from the stage as what sounded like gunshots rang out.

Trump posted on Truth Social:

Quite an evening in D.C. Secret Service and Law Enforcement did a fantastic job. They acted quickly and bravely. The shooter has been apprehended, and I have recommended that we “LET THE SHOW GO ON” but, will entirely be guided by Law Enforcement. They will make a decision shortly. Regardless of that decision, the evening will be much different than planned, and we’ll just, plain, have to do it again. President DONALD J. TRUMP

CNN’s Scotting Jennings has confirmed with CNN correspondent Kaitlin Collins that one shooter is dead on the scene.

From Jacqui Heinrich:

Hello from backstage.

We’re in a hold behind the stage right now. Staff are going out to reset the head table.

POTUS never left and is down the hall from me. He wants the show to go on.

We’re told by his detail someone tried to get through the mags with a gun. The counter assault team did their job (unclear what that means) and the subject is now offsite.

POTUS was evacuated to a hold – the rest of us from the head table are down the hall from him. Secret service had to determine if there were any other threats, we are being told there are no threats.

The building is NOT being evacuated.

We are waiting for staff to reset head table to resume the program.

Listen to Collins report live from the event.

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La) was also rushed from the scene.

The chaos seems to be continuing as we speak:

The WHCA Dinner is an annual tradition in which journalists and the White House get together for a party, typically called “Nerd Prom,” and kick off the Spring gala and social season in DC.

If an attempt on the president, this would be the third assassination attempt on President Trump.

Update 9:35 PM The Secret Service released the following statement on X/Twitter:

Update: 9:45 PM EST. The event has been canceled, and President Trump will hold a press conference at the White House in 30 minutes.

This is on the demonrats. Their inflammatory rhetoric inspires this kind of action. You can’t hate the demonrats enough!!

The inflammatory rhetoric has to come down.

It’s all they have left; they have no accomplishments that I can think of.

we say that after each incident, but it continues and it will until the fear is put to the Democrats,..Remind them that any that repeatedly call Trump a Nazi, threat to Democracy or is engaged in an illegal war, etc, will suffer if anything happens to Trump,..that includes media types, pundits, podcasters, and even members of Congress

What’s a little murder attempt to Trump…been there, done that, got the bullet wound. So what will the press say? Trump crazy or brave beyond their understanding. The show must go on… as for the shooter… they’re fired… literally.

Almost every white house correspondent is a threat. Review their reports.

Leftists are literally screaming 2 minutes later it was ‘staged’.

We cannot share a country with these ghouls anymore.

If we’re gonna stage it, let’s stage it right.
The shooter needs to have concrete links to Jayapal, Steyer, and Jeffries, at minimum. FBI, make it so.

Funny, nobody said that about the entirely ludicrous “assault” on Omar.

Umpty thousand Republicans “storm” the Capitol on 1/6, not a single one armed, not one death/injury other than those caused by Democrat police.

One Democrat gets into the White House with a gun that isn’t even allowed in Washington DC, and immediately launches lead at the president.

“…it [is] clear that white nationalists have become the face of terrorism in America.” —TIME Magazine

I believe there were some injuries from one nut job that got in on Jan 6.
Also, this didn’t take place at the White House. It actually was taking place at the same Hilton property outside of which Reagan was shot 45 years ago.
Lastly, the shooter didn’t get “inside.” He evidently rushed the security checkpoint with the magnetometers (or he set them off and started shooting).

Having said that last bit, I’m going to say the 72-hour Rule is in effect.

Where were Hillary and Pelosi when the shots were fired?

Maybe a CNN poll now on how many correspondents sad the shooter missed.

PolyMarket is looking for the guy who had “Lawrence O’Donnell.”

I pray this is not another Secret Service lapse.

Hasn’t the Secret Service been unfunded for the past 70 days? Government shutdown

It doesn’t appear to be. It looked like they did it right and the setup worked this time.

CommoChief in reply to GWB. | April 25, 2026 at 11:37 pm

Agreed based on current report. Guy tried to blow past entry checkpoint scanner, got confronted, he fired and struck a Secret Service Agent (in vest) and was nearly immediately put down at entryway while Detail Agents shielded and moved their Protectees. That’s about as good an outcome as can be drawn up.

Watch the Communist media claim THEY were the real target.

Four attempts before tonight. Also several incidents which could have been attempts, like the guy who charged the stage and was feet away from Trump during his first run for office. Link at Newsweek https://www.newsweek.com/trump-assassination-attempt-how-many-times-what-we-know-1969291

Event Celebrating Press Freedom and Free Speech Demonstrates Democrat Liberals Commitment To The Heckler’s Veto.

They can’t cancel enough!

Sadly, Kaiser’s Maxim remains undefeated: “Leftists will always, eventually, resort to violence, threats of violence, or glorification of violence to advance their agenda. Always.”

Won’t be long before this is trumps fault and just him not wanting to stay and listen to the media 🙄

Or it was staged 🙄

Or both! 🙄

AF_Chief_Master_Sgt | April 25, 2026 at 11:53 pm

Democrats, liberals, main stream media. All 100% culpable.

We can’t hate these people enough.

They can all rot in hell.

What’s really needed is implementation of an effective counter terrorism effort. Time to stop pretending those calling for eliminating those who disagree with them are engaging in hyperbole. That means reversing the current climate where some call for use of violence with impunity. It means asking questions, seeking evidence, gaining enough PC for a warrant, monitoring communications, seizing electronics, and ‘shaking the tree’ to see what falls out then connecting the dots and following the trail. Too many seem to hold a misguided belief that invoking the 1A and claiming it was mere ‘political rhetoric’ somehow prevents any of those things. I suspect there’s gonna be more scrutiny in coming days than these folks thought possible.

Ultimately either those who chose the path of incendiary rhetoric (often blatantly false) decide to put an end to it and hold themselves and their ‘team’ accountable or this increasing political violence will only end one of two ways Anarchy or Pinochet. Better to avoid either of those but that’s in the hands of the fools pushing the violent rhetoric, false claims of ists/isms/phobes and dialing up the ‘get in their face, make them unwelcome’, ‘ICE and MAGA are fascists’ rhetorical flourishes to inflame the mob. Their choice how it ends.

Yes, it does. Advocating violence, including the president’s assassination, is protected speech. That means the government can’t do anything to chill it. A government entity can’t even fire an employee for saying she hopes the president is assassinated, unless saying it impairs her ability to do her job.

CommoChief in reply to Milhouse. | April 26, 2026 at 8:05 am

LEO can stop you on the sidewalk or come to your home without enough for PC for a warrant and ask questions/speak with you in furtherance of their investigation. Perhaps the speech is deemed so Cray Cray that a ‘welfare check’ is necessary and thanks to SCOTUS, now LEO can enter the home. Gee what is that over there ‘in plain view’? Gosh, the subject made furtive movement, attacked LEO and got tased/arrested. Based on the prior speech, the LEO contact with a belligerent subject, furtive movement and the assault on LEO get a warrant to see their electronics and search home, bank/financial records.

Milhouse in reply to CommoChief. | April 26, 2026 at 8:19 am

Again, if it’s motivated by his constitutionally protected speech, then it’s unconstitutional because of the chilling effect.

CommoChief in reply to Milhouse. | April 26, 2026 at 11:27 am

Again no, the 1A isn’t an impenetrable shield. LEO can absolutely go talk to someone who makes what appear to be threats. Doesn’t mean the LEO will automatically arrest them but inquiry/investigation is legit.

What you are arguing in your overbroad 1A absolutism is that LEO/Gov’t may NEVER use speech as a basis to ask questions or investigate. That isn’t the case at all. Nice try shifting the goal post to ‘constitutionally protected speech’.

          irishgladiator63 in reply to Milhouse. | April 26, 2026 at 12:20 pm

Because chilling calls for murder would be terrible for society.

Milhouse in reply to Milhouse. | April 26, 2026 at 11:33 pm

Again, you seem to be completely ignoring the chilling effect doctrine. The government may react to protected speech, it doesn’t have to ignore it, but it may not do so in retaliation for such speech, or in a manner that would chill such speech. Such a reaction is unconstitutional.

Irish, it doesn’t matter what’s “terrible for society”. The constitution is not a suggestion. It’s the supreme law of the land, and its effect on “society” cannot be taken into account.

MarkS in reply to Milhouse. | April 26, 2026 at 8:49 am

the government might not be able to, but,……

Conclusion: Communist traitors just can’t stop trying to kill the president

Democrats are planning their next attempt.
