AU law school selects Progressive Caucus member Jamie Raskin as commencement speaker
American University’s Washington College of Law has invited Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Maryland), a member of the Progressive Caucus, to give its commencement address on May 16.
“American University’s commencement will bring together an extraordinary group of leaders whose lives and work reflect the very best of our mission—to turn knowledge into action and service in a complex world,” university president Jonathan Alger said in the school’s April 1 announcement of its commencement speakers.
“These speakers will challenge and inspire our graduates to dream big, lead with integrity, and use their education in service to others,” he continued.
In Congress, Raskin is known for backing left-wing policy priorities. He is pro-abortion, supports Medicare for All, has pushed gun control regulations, and co-sponsored the Equality Act of 2019. He supports allowing people to use restrooms and locker rooms according to “gender identity.”
Raskin was the lead manager for President Donald Trump’s second impeachment in 2021, which extended beyond the time the president left office on Jan. 20, 2021.
Also, in 2021, Raskin joined Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Ed Markey to introduce the Green New Deal Resolution, a call to commit to a widespread re-organization of society to address climate change.
“Now is the time for a sweeping Green New Deal to break our lethal carbon addiction, safeguard frontline and vulnerable communities, and propel a just transition forward into the future,” Raskin said at the time.
Raskin is a member of the Progressive Caucus, which “champions policies including comprehensive immigration reform, good-paying jobs, fair trade, universal health care, debt-free college, climate action, and a just foreign policy.”
“The caucus is the leading voice calling for bold and sweeping solutions to the urgent crises facing this nation, including ending America’s broken for-profit health care system, raising American wages, eliminating political corruption, supporting the labor movement, and taking action to protect the planet for generations to come,” its website says.

I would be forced to question the qualifications and attitudes of any graduate of American University’s Washington College of Law.
Raskin is a lifelong Communist, from a family of lifelong Communists. Choosing this treasonous, anti-American slimeball as a commencement speaker tells you all you need to know about that school.
