FBI: Temple Israel Attack a ‘Hezbollah-Inspired Act of Terrorism’

“A review of his online activity since January 2026 revealed a reoccurring search history of pro-Hezbollah news channels, Iranian new channels and video about shootouts and bullets.”

The FBI has determined that Hezbollah motivated Ayman Mohamad Ghazali, a naturalized citizen from Lebanon, who drove his car into Temple Israel near Detroit, MI.

“Based on the evidence gathered to date, we assess this attack to be a Hezbollah-inspired act of terrorism, purposely targeting the Jewish community and the largest Jewish temple in Michigan,” announced Jennifer Runyan, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Detroit field office.

“We do not make this characterization lightly without a thorough review and keen evaluation of the facts,” added Runyan. “The evidence shows the attacker was motivated and inspired by Hezbollah’s militant ideologies.”

U.S. Attorney James Gorgon said:

“The terrorist from Hezbollah in 1983 drove a truck loaded with explosives into a building to kill Americans. That is exactly what this terrorist did a few weeks ago in our backyard.”

“He methodically planned, armed himself, and then drove an explosives-laden truck into a temple filled with American children.”

Gorgon stressed that Ghazali wanted to murder as many Jews as he could:

“Do not be misled. This terrorist acted on behalf of Hezbollah, and he intended to kill others, not just himself.”

“His death was just a means or a tool to kill as many Jews as he could.”

People tried to justify Ghazali’s actions by pointing out that he lost four relatives in Israeli strikes in Lebanon on March 5.

However, the evidence says that Ghazali planned an attack on Jews as early as January:

Runyan said Ayman Mohamad Ghazali consumed online propaganda, contributed to a Facebook photo gallery labeled “Vengance” and took pains to acquire weapons, fireworks and gasoline and researched Jewish organizations in Michigan to attack.

“Although the assailants attack planning and mobilization to violence began in earnest on March 9 … A review of his online activity since January 2026 revealed a reoccurring search history of pro-Hezbollah news channels, Iranian new channels and video about shootouts and bullets,” Runyan said at a news conference Monday, March 30 in Detroit.

She said there is no indication that Ghazali had accomplices locally, though the investigation continues.

Ghazali rammed his truck into Temple Israel on March 12, proceeding to speed down the hallway.

“I mean, he was traveling with purpose down the hall from my look at the video,” said Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard at the time.

Officials said Ghazali filled his car with fireworks and gasoline and carried a gun. That could explain how his car caught on fire.

Bouchard confirmed that Temple Israel’s security engaged Ghazali with gunfire before shooting himself.

I must be some kind of sooper jeanius because as soon as I read about the attack I said to myself “islam”.

Notice I didn’t say “Islamic terrorism” because that’s redundant.

And I was right. Again. It’s rare that I’m not and when I am it’s always a member of islam’s useful idiots, the progressives.

Because you never read about a guy named Jim Bob driving his F-350 into a synagogue now do you?

The point is that it wasn’t “Islam”, or “Islamist terror”, but specifically “Hizballah”. And that while Ghazali’s brothers’ martyrdom was likely the trigger, it wasn’t the motivation. He’d been planning it for a long time, but when his brothers and niblings ascended to Jannah he decided it was time for him to join them.

(The kids’ section of Jannah presumably does involve raisins rather than virgins…)

The motive was Islam. Stop fooling yourself about that

“Islam” is not specific. The investigation confirmed that the motive was specifically his allegiance to Hizballah, which is a designated foreign terrorist organization.

And yes, he and his brothers all died as martyrs to Islam, and therefore he believed that they would all be in Jannah together. Their ascent there was what triggered him to decide that now was the time to carry out the attack that he’d been planning for a long time, so he could join them.

“You like potato and I like po-tah-to
You like tomato and I like to-mah-to
      Potato, po-tah-to, tomato, to-mah-to
Let’s call the whole thing off!”

The common denominator is the commands of the “prophet”, not the disambiguation of the various terms used.

Hezbollah’s terrorism is inspired entirely by Islam.

This was a “Muslim Terrorist” attack.

As opposed to a terror attack motivated by something else that happened to be perpetrated by a Muslim.

Islam was 100% the motivating factor.

Calling this anything other than a “Muslim Terror” attack is incredibly dishonest.

Bouchard confirmed that Temple Israel’s security engaged Ghazali with gunfire before shooting himself. This sentence seems to have originally read: “Bouchard confirmed that Ghazali engaged Temple Israel’s security with gunfire before shooting himself”, but then the writer decided that didn’t sound quite right because it was more likely the security guard who initiated the gunfight, so she switched the order but forgot to change the ending to “before he shot himself”. It’s a type of error that I recognize well, because I make it regularly.

I wonder if this had been Harris’ FBI or Biden’s FBI would the oitocme have been different and they would have siad there is no conclusive evidence that the shooter was inspired by a terrorist group. After all the story that he was just grieving seemed so popular and it fit the framing that Muslims are never culpable for any violent act but rather driven to it as a last result because of the genocidal way Jewish people treat them.

I figured it was Hezbollah related when the crispy critter turned out to be related to Hezbollah terrorists.

Time to pause the Naturalization process, the granting of green cards and any grant of deferred status. The requirements have got to include a thorough background check, multiple in person interviews, reviews of social media and other public statements/actions. Anyone with close family members involved even peripherally with any known terrorist or cartel entity should be rejected out of hand. No waiver other than critical testimony leading to a conviction of their family member in the USA. Applicants should be required to clearly demonstrate assimilation and acceptance of basic Western Civilization values, adoption of the social mores of the USA, English language proficiency equal to a 3 on the standardized DLTP exams.

The USA isn’t a dang HOA. Moving in and filling out paperwork isn’t gonna cut it. Citizenship is a privilege as is a revocable grant of permission to be present in the USA. There’s far more to being a Citizen than obtaining eligibility for Passport. There are duties and responsibilities both explicit and implied some enforced by statute, some by social scrutiny/pressure. Those who don’t want to meet their obligations should go elsewhere.
