Trump Extends Pause on Iranian Energy Strikes to April 6

President Donald Trump announced he extended the pause on Iranian energy strikes for 10 days to April 6.
Trump wrote on Truth Social:
As per Iranian Government request, please let this statement serve to represent that I am pausing the period of Energy Plant destruction by 10 Days to Monday, April 6, 2026, at 8 P.M., Eastern Time. Talks are ongoing and, despite erroneous statements to the contrary by the Fake News Media, and others, they are going very well. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. On Monday, Trump paused the strikes for five days, which were set to end on Friday, citing “very good talks” with Iran.
Trump claimed the U.S. and Iran had a “major point of agreement.”
Iran has continuously denied that whoever is in charge has spoken with the U.S.:
Iran’s foreign ministry has issued a statement, saying: “We deny what US President Donald Trump said regarding negotiations taking place between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
Quoted by CBS News, the BBC’s US partner, the foreign ministry adds: “The Islamic Republic of Iran adheres to its position rejecting any type of negotiations before achieving Iran’s goals from the war.”

I simply don’t believe Iran allowed tankers “down the middle” of the Strait of Hormuz. It’s good to play nice while we move our forces in theatre… but I hope there is no doubt: Iran has no intention of negotiating in good faith. They are delaying, because they think we will run out of willpower.

Given what’s happened to the Iranian leadership these last 25 days it would be a mistake on their behalf to think Trump doesn’t mean anything he says.
I mean look how that attitude worked out for the original mob of leaders and their replacements and their replacements etc.

Well, I am not sure. $4.10 gas is painful at the ballot box. Even Trump is not immune to that pressure. The longer this goes on, the more permanent the damage becomes. Flights are being canceled, plans are getting changed.
All the more reason for Trump to stop playing the Iranians’ games. Tell the cardboard ayatollah that if he wants to have anything more than rubble to rule over that he’d better open Hormuz in a hurry because the B-2s are on their way.

The real reason was probably to give our pilots a rest, do maintenance and get ready to resume full tempo.
Time is a two-way street here. Iranian leaders would prefer to wait on the issue in hopes that domestic support for Trump falters, or that he caves to requests from other countries. The two-way nature is Trump also has additional days to see if the leadership remains in leadership, either because of an overthrow, or because non-energy bombing finds targets of those in Iranian leadership, in either case, causing him to deal with different leaders.

Basically, the “diplomacy” phase appears to be stalling until we have assets in theatre.
I don’t think we will take Kharg right away. We will seize the little islands, and then Hormuz, Larak, which will give us pretty good control of the Straight and prevent Iran from exacting tolls.
Meantime Israel is plowing straight ahead against Hezbollah 24/7. Also acting on intelligence and taking out Iranian weapons production.
