Black Democrat Rep. Blasts Her Party For Supporting Abortion, LGBT Ideology

Karen Whitsett said she made a ‘spiritual decision’ that she could no longer align herself with the Democratic Party nor represent it in Michigan.

A black Christian Democrat said she cannot in good conscience run for re-election in Michigan due to her party’s radical support for abortion and LGBT ideology.

“I will not be seeking re-election for this office, and I will not be running for any office ever again,” Michigan State Representative Karen Whitsett said, according to WDIV ClickOnDetroit. “This is not a political calculation—it’s a spiritual decision.”

As the Democratic Party increasingly supports abortion through all nine months of pregnancy, along with the unscientific idea that boys can become girls and vice versa, Whitsett found herself in an uncomfortable position.

“For me, it is impossible to be a faithful follower of Jesus Christ while remaining a member of the Democratic Party as it exists today,” she said. “I cannot reconcile that platform with Scripture.”

Rep. Whitsett said that abortion has not only targeted the black community but also kept it from succeeding.

She said:

We say there is no such thing as Black-on-Black crime, but in my view, abortion is exactly that. We wonder why there are no good men—too many were aborted, and we have emasculated many of the men who are still here. We cannot destroy life and then act shocked when our families and neighborhoods suffer the consequences.

Whitsett also took issue with what she called the “normalization of the gay lifestyle, and the push to redefine gender, saying:

I understand these are personal for many families, because your son, daughter, cousin, aunt, or uncle may be one. But personal proximity does not change God’s definition of right and wrong. Love for people does not require agreement with sin, and compassion does not give us permission to rewrite Scripture.

In response, the chair of the Michigan Democratic Party mocked Whitsett (and, by extension, millions of Americans who share similar opposition to the Party’s social agenda).

“Good riddance. Rep. Whitsett’s decision to not seek re-election is a net positive for her constituents and all Michiganders,” Chair Curtis Hertel said. “We look forward to electing a strong Democratic candidate to represent this district, especially one who actually shows up for work.”

Whitsett said she doesn’t know who “Hertel” is “so this person can’t be that important.”

“Clearly, I am to this person,” she wrote on X. “I pray this leans him/her closer to Christ.”

Welcome to MAGA.

She doesn’t agree with her party the democrats (who then mock her) but she doesn’t leave the party and just announces she won’t run for political office again. That strikes me of someone who is taking their ball and going home.

The whole episode strikes me as strange, Democratic party values haven’t changed in 30+ years. Wasn’t she paying attention when she joined the party.

TBF: as a black female elected official who publicly rejected the Party she was a member of she would be a prime candidate for harassment, assault and assassination. Remember that Virginia voters just elected someone who wants to kill the children of a GOP politician, and “assassination pr*n” is commonplace in the Communist Party and their media bootlickers. What do you think would happen to someone whom they consider a “race traitor” like her if she tried to run as a Republican or independent?

It didn’t say she left the party. She may have. She may not have.

She’s in Michigan. If she were to run again she would get harassed. She’s probably harassed already. She said she would never run, A bit extreme.

As I said the Democratic party hasn’t changed much in a long time except to shed its moderate branch and liberal branches. Gay rights were first supported in 1972 and abortion in 1976, Did she ever have a clue about what she joined?

This whole story is a bit weird. Nothing to lose sleep over or even really to debate.

        Couldn’t be clearer:

“For me, it is impossible to be a faithful follower of Jesus Christ while remaining a member of the Democratic Party as it exists today,” she said. “I cannot reconcile that platform with Scripture.”

The question is why she joined it in the first place. Maybe she thought she could be a force for change. Naive perhaps, but laudable nonetheless.

First step off the Democrat plantation. Better late than never.

“Democrat party values haven’t changed in 30+ years.”

    Are you kidding?!

No. In the 70s the Democrats started purging their party of anyone not on the left. They were pro gay marriage and pro abortion. They also started in with their identity politics requirements. Once their moderates and conservatives were purged yes they continued to move to the left. Far to the left, However their basic values were in place long ago.

She figure it out, you cannot be both a Christian and a Democrat. The two are mutually exclusive

she’d. been better off staying there and denouncing the leftists every chance she got

after all these years and proof of it,,Im surprised so many people like to CLAIM that the dems used to be good etc

must be their guilt trips for their own voting habits

the left has neverrrr ever been good

She is right about the bottom line being a Spiritual conflict. All of America is in the midst of it right now.

The thing that got me was her statement: “[w]e say there is no such thing as Black-on-Black crime …” Whoever the “we” who said that must be an ostrich. 80-90% of blacks killed in homicides are killed by other blacks!

Facts are stubborn things – John Adams

Racist white supremacists through their imposition of oppressive systematic policies made those Blacks off the other Blacks, It’s wasn’t their fault. They’re victims each and every one of them.

And when one factors in racial makeup of populations, it comes out to a black person being 27 times more likely to be murdered by another black than a white. Thank God Brandon was there to tell us that White Supremacy is the biggest problem that we face.

That’s nice. Wait until you get elected and reap the cushy job and benefits then suddenly have an attack of conscience.

Probably a new Christian.

A nobody, slammed by the ugly stick, whose whole family is in politics. Ugh. I despise nepobabies like that.

Ms. Whitsett has finally realized that when you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas.

Dante called this the Great Denial.
