Texas Tech Cancels Event Organized by Group Promoting Late-Term Abortions
“third-trimester abortion care, ethics, and patient-centered medicine”
This is so strange. Democrats have assured me that no one is for this horrific practice.

Texas Tech cancels speaking event organized by leftist group promoting illegal late-term abortions
A major Texas university recently scrapped an event seemingly meant to promote illegal late-term abortion procedures.
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) canceled an event featuring Dr. Shelley Sella, who was set to give “[a] physician’s perspective on third-trimester abortion care, ethics, and patient-centered medicine.”
Sella describes herself as “the first woman to openly practice third-trimester abortion care in the US” on her website.
The event would also have distributed free copies of Sella’s book “Beyond Limits: Stories of Third-Trimester Abortion Care,” in which she “shares deeply intimate, profoundly human stories of third-trimester abortion” and attempts to “challenge readers to reexamine preconceived notions of gestational limits and viability.”
The speaking engagement was organized by Medical Students for Choice (MSFC), a nonprofit whose “mission is to support future abortion care providers and advocate for reproductive justice globally,” according to its Instagram page.
TTUHSC explained the cancellation in a statement to The Texas Scorecard, saying, “Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center evaluated the request and determined that it is not in the best interest of the university to host this event on campus.”
The local chapter of the Knights of Columbus brought the event to the attention of the school’s Turning Point USA chapter, which in turn recruited pro-life activists Mark Lee Dickson and Jim Baxa to lobby against it.
“When I heard that Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center was going to have a third-trimester abortionist to promote the practice of third-trimester abortions, I knew I had to start making some calls,” Dickson wrote in a social media post.
