Boeing’s Defense Headquarters Flees Virginia After Democratic Takeover
I don’t believe in coincidences.
The Democrats have had control of Virginia for only a little over a month, but have already lost a portion of a large company.
Boeing will move its Defense, Space, and Security headquarters from Arlington, VA, back to the St. Louis area.
The main headquarters will stay in Arlington.
“The move emphasizes company leadership’s commitment to being present and engaged with teammates who are designing, producing and delivering vital defense and space products and capabilities for customers in the U.S. and around the world,” according to a Boeing press release.
The company did not mention politics in the press release, but I do not believe in coincidences.
I mean, it makes sense for Boeing to place its defense headquarters in Arlington, the home of the Pentagon.
The defense headquarters called St. Louis home from 1997 to 2017 before heading to Chicago.
Then, in 2022, Boeing transferred its headquarters to Arlington during former Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s term. The former governor’s efforts led to Virginia being named the best state for business in 2024.
“It’s important for leaders to be side-by-side with our teammates, listening to their feedback and acting to remove obstacles as we continue to stabilize and strengthen our business,” said Steve Parker, Boeing Defense, Space & Security CEO. “The headquarters move, coupled with our senior leaders being based at and spending their time at major engineering, production and manufacturing centers across the U.S., reflects our continued focus on disciplined performance across our business.”
Boeing did not say if the employees will transfer to St. Louis.
The company employs over 18,000 people in St. Louis. The facilities include:
- Defense aircraft and munitions production and modernization
- Advanced fabrication capabilities
- Services and sustainment support
- Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and other capability centers
- Phantom Works advanced prototyping and Virtual Warfare Centers
I don’t know how long Boeing planned to make the move, but we saw the writing on the wall these past few years. We all had a gut feeling the Democrats would take over Virginia.
We all knew a Democrat majority would ruin everything. They wasted no time instilling their far-left ideas when Abigail Spanberger became governor last month.
Elizabeth covered the insane tax proposals the Democrats pushed through, including two that would affect the employees and the company:
HB 378 – Imposes a 3.8% net investment income tax on individuals, trusts, and estates beginning in taxable year 2027. If enacted, HB 378 would raise VA’s top marginal income tax rate on portfolio and passive income to 9.55%.
HB 900 – Authorizes sales tax hikes in various transportation districts, imposes a new tax on each and every retail delivery in Northern Virginia (Amazon, Uber Eats, FedEx, UPS, etc.), similar to the one imposed in Minnesota by Gov. Tim Walz (D).
Then there’s HB61, which discriminates against white men when bidding on government contracts:
As one alarmed Virginian reports on X, HB61 would put white men at a distinct disadvantage when bidding on government contracts. According to the post, “For discretionary contracts under $100K, White men are barred from even being considered unless there’s literally no competition. And even then, this bill allows agencies to award contracts to women or minority-owned firms that are 5% more expensive than a bid from a business owned by a White man.”
Democrats in Virginia have introduced a bill that discriminates against White men in government contracting.

There’s also the Congressional redistricting map the Democrats want to pass, which would potentially give the party a 10-1 majority.

Oh the irony — imagine voting Democrat and then moving because of Democrat policies…
Wonder how Amazon feels. Jumping from frying pan into the fire
Double-check the doors on the moving vans before they take off for Missouri, guys.
There’s even a better story from earlier today. The State of Indiana voted on a measure to approve a request to move of the Chicago Bears to Hammond, Indiana from Chicago.
I think I mentioned this earlier but SwaM is a joke anyways. Lots of males put the company in their wife’s name to get around it.
The status on HB378 says failed. I hope that’s a good sign for us Virginians.
You’ve gotta give Spanberger credit for one thing: she knocked the “colored” out of the NAACP when the organization supported lily white Spanberger over a demonstrably qualified black woman, Winsome Sears.
Now Spanberger is knocking the “best” out of “named the best state for business in 2024” with her communist, er, Demsocialist policies.
I hope people take note of VA, CA, OR, WA, and MN, among others, when voting in 2026. Unfortunately, the cavalcade of leftist propaganda will be inundating the media starting now.
I really hate to say this but Sears didn’t have a chance. Too many rural white voters in this party that won’t trust a black woman and most blacks vote party over color these days.
I voted for her but figured it was a lost cause.
The new battle cry: Reject Reject Reject
this is a lefty run country
no wheres to run
the long arm of the tax women gets you no matter where you go
the blmplo unions get you
the courts sometimes side with maga
the left ignores it with work arounds
This likely has VERY little to do with the state’s retarded politics of late. Boeing isn’t moving every time a moron is elected gov.
I don’t know the head count they have in Virginia, but they don’t have the coin to relocate, they don’t have office space in St Louis, they don’t have coin to spend on new office space and they are trying desperately to retain talent, not drive it away- so forcing them to relo on their own dime isn’t likely happening— (except I do know there’s some exec DEI they ought to get rid of in Virginia…. so hmmm). So I doubt they are moving bodies anytime soon… just like there’s a ton of bodies still in Chicago and will be for a while.
More likely is they are wanting decision makers closer to production. Under prior leadership the execs were all 4 seasons/first class jet setters who had mansions far away from where the work was. They were horrible leaders and horrible human beings. Unfortunately many of those horribles are still there along with other horribles hired by the horribles who have been fired. DEI /woke/ stupid is a cancer that doesn’t just go away on its own.
The timing of this aligns to Kelly Ortberg’s time in office and his efforts to turn the company around. On the manufacturing side they are making strides with the FAA. I can tell you people on the inside still think the execs are a bunch of corrupt aholes (spoiler alert- many of them are). Follow the sub reddit page if you want to read up on that.
The thing to really keep an eye on is where they are expanding production and where they are NOT expanding production. Charleston got a huge expansion. Meanwhile they are shuttering office space in Washington St. This is both union driven and probably a reflection that businesses are reducing their foot prints in Washington (not just Boeing).
Boeing has business operations in China, including a partnership with the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (Comac) to open an assembly plant for 737 aircraft. Additionally, Boeing has established service centers to support the growing commercial aviation industry in China
Boeing projects a demand for 7,240 new airplanes in China over the next 20 years valued at nearly $1.1 trillion dollars. That demand is being fueled by continuous economic growth, significant investment in infrastructure, a growing middle-class and evolving airline business models. China’s fleet size is expected to grow at a pace well above the world average, and almost 20 percent of global new airplane demand will be from airlines based in China.

The decades backlog of both Airbus and Boeing is begging for a competitor.
