Quinnipiac U. Reports Case of Norovirus in Residence Hall
“Just cleaning everything. Being mindful of what you touch and always try to wash your hands”
This is one of those awful things that comes with harsh winter weather.
NBC News in Connecticut reports:
Norovirus reported at Quinnipiac University residence hall
Students at Quinnipiac University are taking precautions after norovirus was reported at a campus residence hall last week. This came after the school notified students on campus.
“It does seem nasty, definitely don’t want that,” Matt Flaherty, a QU freshman, said.
That’s been the response from students at Quinnipiac University after getting news of norovirus being reported on campus last week. The school says this was at the Ledges Residence Hall.
“I’m glad they sent an email and made everyone aware so people can take precautions,” Patrick McGugan, a QU freshman, said.
University officials say the school’s medical director wrote to students living in the residence hall to offer guidance on symptoms, prevention and when to seek medical care. A couple of students who live at the Ledges say at least two people got norovirus.
“I know one of my roommates was wiping down his desk as soon as he got the email, so just a heads up,” McGugan said.
Medical experts say norovirus is highly contagious and include symptoms like vomiting, nausea, diarrhea and body aches. Students say they’re taking steps to stay healthy and avoid getting sick.
“Just cleaning everything. Being mindful of what you touch and always try to wash your hands,” Flaherty said.

Just wear two masks and send everybody home. Amirite?
Why is this news?
Norovirus is far from rare.
Oh no! Not a NOROVIRUS! OMG! We’re all going to die!
Wait, it’s a stomach bug from eating bad food? And the symptoms are puking and crapping? (And their cleaning instructions didn’t involve bleaching the toilet?) Heck, that’s just a bad hangover with a side of Taco Bell!
As long as it isn’t a Norkovirus, I’m chill.
It’s a virus, and not from bad food. I had norovirus last week. Caught it from my wife, two days behind her.
Eight hours of puking every 45 minutes, wishing you were dead. Crapping when you really need to puke. Then feeling weak and queasy for most of the next week. I’m on my eighth day and still recovering.
Of course, I’m old, and those college kids will probably get over it in 4 days.
