So now that they’ve gotten “their vote” can we please move on to more urgent and pressing matters, like the faltering economy and the upcoming Financialpocalypse Part II.

Next distraction .. please
…and we all know what happens when the d-cRAT socialist extremists and their RINO pals in congress don’t do what our Dictator-in-Chief wants – he just issues another Executive Order to implement his plan to destroy the US Constitution along with everything else about America.
Surely there is some free-contraceptive or abortion-funding bill they can focus on.
But they’ll probably pivot to immigration.
… but what about J-O-B-S ?
None of those three letter words please.
Obama set to give a speech at 5:30 EST to scold the Senate for preserving liberty, demonize the NRA, and pump up his base for the fundraising letters about to be sent out.
Sorry to be so cynical, but reality is what it is.
I normally can’t stand to watch him, but I tuned in this time hoping to see him foam at the mouth. It was close; I really
enjoyed it!
He REALLY resembled the guy who played Satan on the Bible miniseries today. Had to laugh.
I’ll be tuning in if only to see if he brandishes his infamous “fickle finger of fate” to the opposition; that way I’ll know that he’s steamed to the max. 🙂
The Senate got their up or down vote, and I guess they spoke pretty loudly. Now if we could only get them to repeal Obamacare, we might actually have a chance to recover economically.
I’m fairly sure that Obama came completely unhinged. As soon as someone sees a transcript of that speech – I’d love to help fact check/refute it – there were some serious whoppers in there.
My suspicion is that his next move will be to start issuing a frenzy of aggressive Executive Orders restricting constitutional rights that will finally require the Congress to put a “check” on him.
Kilgore: Smell that? You smell that?
Lance: What?
Kilgore: Legislation, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that.
[kneels]
Kilgore: I love the smell of defeated legislation in the afternoon. The smell, you know that legislative smell, the whole hill smelled like
[sniffing, pondering]
Kilgore: LAME DUCK. Someday this administration’s gonna end…
What the rats may not fully realize is that they awakened a lot of people who otherwise don’t follow politics. Now they do, or at least many will.
Mark Kirk = Dick Durbin in Red Chiffon.
A good day for civil rights.
But Dirty Filthy Harry voted “NO”, which will allow it to come back.
Praise God (literally) this did NOT pass! The law would have created a whole new class of “criminals” of which many of us would then be. This whole idea was not only unconstitutional but INSANE on so many levels. It would mean you couldn’t even give a gun as a gift to your kids or grandkids or whatever without a “background check”. Plus, it might have sparked another Civil War. Besides guns or any weapons are not the problem. The law would not have stopped any of the crimes being committed. The problem is not dealing with the mentally ill like our country should.
#ObamaFAIL
I can’t help wondering about how Sarah Palin’s promise of no support for gun control senators impacted vote on the bills. Kelly Ayotte certainly seems to have remembered who bring h to the dance.

Be sure to watch the Obama video on the results of today’s vote.
This is going to stick on Obama’s craw like a prune pit.
I predict it will eat him from the inside out for the rest of his liberal life.
This sound defeat is his first in National Politics.
The massive amount of political capital splurged by Obama & his cronies can not be unspent.
I love the fact, besides this unconstitutional bill failed, that McRINO and his crony little toady Graham, as well as Toomey and Kirk, all stuck their RINO necks out and got them chopped off !
We the People will NOT stand y idly while try and railroad another unconstitutional anti-America law down our throats.
We will right this anti-American govt wrong.. and we will throw out every last radical leftist from Obama on down.
Hate to say it, but as an Illinois resident I can tell you Kirk won’t suffer for that vote. Illinois is pretty darned blue: Chicago and the inner ring burbs, and East Saint Louis, are indigo to midnight blue, and the rest of Cook and Lake counties are blue as well. The rest of the state doesn’t make up for that.
So no, Kirk won’t take a hit. In fact he likely would have been hurt had he voted the other way. Remember he beat his Democratic rival Alexi Giannoulias just barely, and Giannoulias was pretty much a legalized bank robber. And the big newspapers in the state would have pounded him for this.
So I’m afraid Kirk played politics the way it’s usually played — self-preservation first and foremost.
Toomey, too.
Honestly! Why does Arizona continue to tolerate that loser McCain?
Just imagine if he was president. He could have gotten this passed by providing cover for the GOP.
How sad is it that our choice in 2008 was between Obama and Obama-lite?
I hate to say it, but if Romney were president we would have passed gun control. Mitt likes to ban guns, including so called assault weapons, and Republican Senators would not have opposed a new president of their own party on something like this.
Wrong.
Obama could care less about gun control. He’s flipping out because he just became a lame duck.
He’s always been lame.
OMG, the Dems just let a crisis go to waste #Newtown #GunControl
Dingy Harry will bring it back. Keep up the phone calls and faxes. Don’t bother mailing via snail mail. They never read the letters – even before the ricin letters were detected yesterday or today.
I suspect the ricin letters are the only letters that have actually been read.
They’ll be back… You can bet on it!
While the latest Gallup poll has 4% of Americans concerned with gun legislation, this is no reason for the liberal/progressive/democrat crowd to give up for they follow the reason of the vocal minority while we follow the logic of reason.
I’ll take this rare victory and hope for the same in the upcoming vote on illegal amnesty…
Dirty Harry might, just MIGHT bring the it up for a vote again, but the closer to the ’14 elections, voting for it will become more radioactive for red state Senators.
Thank you, Senate Democrats!
Imagine if we could devote the effort we put into preventing the GOP from selling us out into other endeavors?
The NRA provided us a lot of good lessons on how to fight.
Make sure that the point that this is a BIPARTSAN block is hammered home in every mention of the story, since the Dems so delight in using even a single Republican vote as cover. Obamacare is OWNED by them and their partisan, corrupt vote.
There are two kinds of gun control advocates; The ‘low information’ and the ‘true believer.’
The ‘low information’ gun control advocates don’t really know anything about guns. They just repeat whatever sound bite or pithy factoid they’ve heard lately. They are either scared of guns or simply don’t like them, don’t know why anyone would want to own a real gun, and wish guns would just go away. While they may not necessarily intend for everyone’s guns to be confiscated they would most likely say ‘Well, it’s probably for the best,’ and go along with it.
The ‘true believer’ gun control advocates have one simple goal: To make the private possession of any firearm a felony. Period. They want to confiscate every gun not controlled by the government. Some simply hate guns while others see privately held guns as an ‘impediment’ to some other goal or plan. They will take as many years as necessary to achieve this goal, decades even. They are nothing if not patient. They will never stop. When they grow too old to continue they will pass on the job to the next generation of ‘true believers.’
This bill’s defeat is simply a battle in an ongoing war.
Gun rights advocates must remain forever vigilant!
That’s a shame. Perhaps next time they will address causes rather than treat symptoms. The presumption of guilt kick they are on undermines their credibility.
