Ayanna Pressley Leads Push For Reparations Commission Amid DOGE’s Cuts to Wasteful Spending

“What we’re seeing from the Trump administration and their allies in Congress and the courts is a coordinated, years-long effort to dismantle any policy that uplifts black folks and addresses America’s shameful history of systemic racism. It is anti-blackness on steroids…”

The Dept. of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has been on a tear since its formal creation via an Executive Order from President Donald Trump last month, auditing federal departments and finding hundreds of millions of dollars in wasteful spending and woke priorities gone wildly amok.

As a result, there have been pink slips galore, office shutdowns, and a spending freeze, all of which are being fought tooth and nail in the courts by Democrats desperate to keep their various slush funds, gravy trains, and large-scale grifts going.

Democrats are, of course, utilizing other ways to push back against Trump and DOGE leader Elon Musk as well, which have included using incendiary language to incite their unhinged supporters and attempting to storm departments like the ED to prevent DOGE from doing its job.

Amid all this and the Trump administration’s war on DEI, The Resistance is also dragging the reparations issue back into the debate. Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) is leading the latest push by the party to form a reparations commission, and Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) is heading up the effort on the Senate side.

Several members of the Congressional Black Caucus, including Pressley and fellow Squad member Rep. Summer Lee (D-PA), held a press conference Wednesday to announce the reintroduction of H.R. 40, a bill that has been introduced in every Congress since 1989 but which has found little to no support among Republican members and which even some Democrats have balked at:

“What we’re seeing from the Trump Administration and their allies in Congress and the courts is a coordinated, years-long effort to dismantle any policy that uplifts Black folks and addresses America’s shameful history of systemic racism. It is anti-Blackness on steroids and we’re not backing down in our pursuit of healing and reparatory justice,” said Congresswoman Pressley.

“H.R. 40 is a powerful reminder of the work that remains and offers us a pathway toward truth, reconciliation, and accountability for the deep, structural injustices that continue to ravage Black communities to this day. I am grateful to Senator Booker for his ongoing partnership and I am deeply honored to follow in the footsteps of my mentor and friend, the late Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, in introducing this deeply necessary and overdue legislation.”

Here’s some of what Pressley alleged during the press conference:

Lee also accused the Trump administration of “white supremacy” and “racial terror”:

Even if this bill did manage to squeak through the House of Representatives (which it won’t), it would be DOA in the Senate, which every co-sponsor knows. But, in my opinion, the point is not to pass it. The point is to keep the pot stirred and the race card front and center as the battle over the wisdom (or lack thereof) of DEI and the necessity of the funding cuts to it in programs both at home and abroad get hashed out in the court of public opinion.

Pardon me, is that a picture of the evil villain Lex Luthor?

Yeah…..
>Trump is a fascist for reducing the size of govt and the power of unelected govt bureaucrats.
>Antifa is “anti-fascist” because they dress up in paramilitary fashion with masks, beat up people on the streets, loot, and burn.

As for reparations (Free Money, Free Money, Free Money!) let’s make a deal. Only those who can trace ancestry back to a US slave get money.
Only those who can trace ancestry back to a slave owner pay money.
BTW, blacks who owned slaves count.
Further, African slave catchers were almost exclusively Africans and Arabs.

If we’re going to punish innocent descendants of slave owners who themselves never owned a slave in the US let’s also punish innocent descendants of slave catchers in Africa who themselves never sold slaves as well. And since slavery is STILL endemic to that continent, punish current slave owners there as well.

So to be fair, for every $2 we extract from Africa for their past and present guilt in re: slavery require from the US a matching $1 for our past guilt in re: slavery.

I want reparations because my great great grandfather died during the “War to free the slaves,” and so Rep Presstitute, I want a little goddamned respect.

Sign me up for those reparations too on behalf of my ancestors who died to end the “peculiar institution”. It makes as much sense as taking money from people who have never owned slaves and giving it to people who have never been slaves.

I’m so sick of black people

Get over it. As long as their are liberals, they will be whining. There are blacks that understand that they have been used as a tool by the democrat party. Sweeping generalization do not advance the cause. Most of us black/white or whatever want the same things. I don’t want you on my team with that attitude. I am sick of the Democratic party and anyone that supports it.

Hodge in reply to gonzotx. | February 14, 2025 at 11:47 pm

I’m gonna qualify that. I am not sick of Black people… I know quite a few who fit into “normal society” quite nicely and are just plain folks. Hell, for all we know half the posters here could be Black – there’s nothing inherently different about most Blacks.

The problem that America has is a distinct, unique to America, ghetto culture.. This is the culture that disrespects authority, doesn’t take care of their families, and seems to lack any understanding of the normal American Cultural Rules of courtesy and general interaction.

These are the ‘DidnDo’ tribe (as in I didn’t do Nuthin’). The Great Society and affirmative action have been attempts to civilize this group..and at least so far only seems to have made things worse. These are the people who have destroyed Detroit, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and other cities.

Sadly, while -like everyone else- while I recognize the problems, I have no idea for any solution. The general hard-working Blacks don’t want anything to do with the tribe either, and so they just move to the suburbs to live normal American lives. To be fair, I don’t think that they have any influence over the tribe either so it’s hard to fault them for not wading in to fix things.

So what to do? Special government treatment did help some but most of those were going to make it anyway on their own merits. I am tired of that “fix”. Liberal treatment by law enforcement sure as hell didn’t work. Self-government of Blacks by Blacks in major cities has also been ruinous.
I don’t think just cutting off welfare et al would help – we’d just get bigger armed gangs. Mandatory government service for teens like the WPA in the 1930’s? Even in the new improved Trump era, the government could never run a program that would change hearts, minds, and culture.

The only thing I haven’t mentioned and hate to bring up is severe law enforcement and incarceration… and not just for Blacks of course, but that’s where the impact would hit hardest. I direct you to FBI statistics where roughly 48% of murders are committed by roughly 7 percent of our population…Black males.

I’m sick of primarily back women, angry back women, who are the most reliable democratic voting group, and who biden appeased by saddling us with Ketanji Brown Jackson and Kamala Harris. The black women in congress (think Mad Max, Cori Bush, Cynthia McKinney, Pressley, Shiela Jackson Lee, Karen Bass, Ilhan Omar, Jasmine Crockett, Summer Lee, Stacey Plaskett) have also been bat shit crazy.

It is I who wants reparations, after spending 60 years of taxes on Great Society programs that have delivered people like this. IMO anyone who thinks that what has been uncovered by DOGE is OK has no content to their character.

I’d be happy to see a return of freedom of association and freedom of contract making a comeback.

Ayanna Pressley, very bad timing and extremely stupid move. She should move to Africa to seek compensation from decedents of Africans who enslaved black people.

Competent black Americans have opportunity.

Dumb, incompetent black people are now being treated the same as dumb incompetent people of all other races.

She, genetically, can’t go back…. she isn’t Africanized against diseases there. Anyway, I doubt that they wouldn’t want her as she isn’t 100% black African. Even if so, just another black African resident in a sea of black.

Cueball says what?

God I’m so tired of the nutjobs in congress from my state of MA. Each one more idiotic than the previous one.

I certainly want mine for that whole egypt, moses thing…

Aww, shut up. Do what Jews, Irish, Chinese, Japanese, Italians, and others did. Uplift yourselves.

As for the systemic racism, that’s an excuse for the lazy and shiftless.

Reparations have long since been generously repaid in full. We refer to these “reparations” as “The Civil War,” Our country fought a long and costly war, both in lives and expense.

Where did you get the idea that people having nothing to do with slavery almost two hundred years after that war could be forced to pay ANYTHING to anyone, you shiny skin head ignoramus?

Jmaquis in reply to Jmaquis. | February 14, 2025 at 9:48 pm

One interesting tidbit is that in Africa and other parts of the world, slavery still exists and no one seems to be up for a war to change things.

Also, consider that native Africans don’t like your kind. They find you out of touch with reality (no surprise there) also ungrateful and amazingly lazy. No one is forcing you to stay in this country. There is a huge world out there and you wouldn’t believe the celebration that would take place should you and your kind depart!

Tell you what.

Any budget surplus we have for 2026 can be given as reparations.

No surplus, no reparations.

Look at the cost of black criminality, it is staggering. Black welfare, another staggering cost. Anyone demanding reparations should be sent back to Africa, to an African slaver.

Suburban Farm Guy | February 14, 2025 at 7:52 pm

Another deal: We’ll give you reparations BUT we never want to hear any of this BS about ‘systemic racism’ and ‘white supremacy’ etc — none of that EVER again.

Dolce Far Niente in reply to Suburban Farm Guy. | February 14, 2025 at 8:01 pm

Nope, never going to hand out reparations for imaginary injury. And even if reparations were handed over, what makes you think race grifters would ever shut up about why black people don’t succeed?
The excuse of racism is just too sweet and enticing for failures who refuse to admit their toxic culture leads to nothing good or useful.

    How about NO!

I am in favor of reparations as long as the entity that fought to keep blacks in chains and then oppressed them for over 100yeas pays. The Democratic Party should pay reparations to black in order to atone for their evil they have done to blacks.

    JohnSmith100 in reply to ConradCA. | February 15, 2025 at 8:48 am

Blacks in America are far better off than those in Africa. The greatest gift thy received is Caucasian linage which raised their IQ from Africa’s average of 64 to 85 for American blacks. That is a big deal.

Reparations will be income to the government, not an expense. Calculate how much better off the descendants are in America instead of Africa, and the welfare already paid out to the benefit of blacks, and blacks will owe whites some enormous amount.

This Valentine’s Day the wise words of Kanye West seem very relevant re Rep Pressley:

‘Now I ain’t sayin’ she a gold digger
But she ain’t messin’ with no broke’

When the America’s want something from you. We will rub your head

Cultural Marxism

Lucifer Morningstar | February 14, 2025 at 9:11 pm

That’s fine. If blacks want to be paid off let’s do it. Then let’s repeal the Civil Rights Acts of 1957 and 1964 along with the Voting Rights Act of 1965. And while we’re at it disband all federal and state offices of civil rights and any other programs that are aimed specifically at and for blacks. Because if we pay blacks off then there is no need for any of it, right? Any perceived obligation(s) to blacks ends with the payment of reparations.

Who is this guy again? I don’t recall.

“After 3 Weeks on the Job, Trump Getting Close to Doubling Support from Black Men”

https://www.westernjournal.com/3-weeks-job-trump-getting-close-doubling-support-black-men/

Even blacks have stopped listening to this jive in increasing numbers.

Keep screaming and singing. Please!

Our neighborhood Postman is a black guy (in his late 40’s?) Last July he came by as I and a couple of other retired guys on the block were just chatting and he joined the discussion. I don’t recall how it came up but he was already a Trump supporter, and indicated that a lot of his co-workers were too. The point for him anyhow was that Trump had done more for the economy and for Blacks in his first term than the Democrats ever did. The D’s promised but never delivered. He didn’t like the “weirdo stuff” with gays and trannies etc.

Anyhow, he’s just a normal guy who happens to be Black… and part of that group who have woken up after years of reflexive voting.

Great to hear anecdotes such as this. #47’s support is broad and transcends racial, occupation and geographic lines.

    Preach a little Gospel /
Sell a couple bottles of Doctor Good…

All you black people waiting for reparations, this one is the real deal!
Do you remember how much you guys got from New York and California?
Well, Ayanna’s gonna send you TWICE as much!

What does the old motto say as far as “fool me three times…?”

Black Kojak. What a friggin’ joke.

Just when you think the communists can’t get any more retarded, they come out saying they want people who have never owned slaves to pay money to people who’ve never been slaves. God damn I hate communists

Black V’Ger wants to destroy all the Carbon Units.

Two points about reparations:

One of the problems with reparations is freed slaves had been promised a mule & 40 acres, a deal to which considerable hard work & uncertainty would have attended. Today’s blacks don’t want hard labor & no guarantee of success, they want a cash hand out. These things are different. They are not now asking for what was promised.

Another problem with reparations: It proposes to pay damages to descendants of people who were screwed. But if this generation is paid for damages done to their ancestors, what prevents the next generation & the next, etc. from demanding the same? Will they not still be similarly aggrieved?

Ironclaw in reply to DaveGinOly. | February 15, 2025 at 8:45 am

Reparations also proposed to hold people responsible for things that happened before they were even born. I’m not paying anyone anything for shit that was done before I was born

    AF_Chief_Master_Sgt in reply to DaveGinOly. | February 15, 2025 at 9:08 am

That 40 acres and a mule bullshit was never true. I didn’t see a law that was passed that guaranteed that.

My wife was promised payment of her student loans when Clinton ran for president. I never saw a dime of that either.

The last election demonstrated rather convincingly that a majority of the U.S. voting-age population is sick and tired of self-enriching, self-serving, corrosive and dishonest racial hustlers and demagogues who are perpetually peddling narratives of contrived, alleged and facllacious racial grievance and victimhood.

A perfect look for a Worcester MA, city council member.

I’m for reparations from anyone that owned slaves to anyone that was a slave!

hundreds of thousands of American Men paid the price with their blood, to end slavery. no to reparations
