Male Nominated for Oscar for Best Actress

Male Nominated for Oscar for Best Actress

Karla Sofía Gascón received the nomination for the movie Emilia Pérez, a movie about a cartel boss who transitions to a female to disappear.

Well, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences finally did it.

It nominated a male for an Oscar for Best Actress.

Karla Sofía Gascón received the nomination for the movie Emilia Pérez, a movie about a cartel boss who transitions to a female to disappear.

The movie is based on director Jacques Audiard’s opera of the same title, which he adapted from Boris Razon’s novel Écoute.

The movie has 13 nominations.

He is the first trans to be nominated for an Oscar.

How much do you want to bet he will be the first to win it?

Variety mentioned the CISGENDER actors who won Oscars for portraying transgender characters.

No. Jared Leto and Eddie Redmayne are males. Hilary Swank is a female. We aren’t CIS.

Here’s the funny thing. Critics love Emilia Pérez, but the LGBT community has trashed it and has a 6.4 rating on IMDB.

GLAAD described the movie as a “profoundly retrograde portrayal of a trans woman.”

Reanna Cruz, who uses they/them pronouns, blasted it:

In a recent episode of NPR’s Pop Culture Happy Hour podcast, critic Reanna Cruz expressed their belief that the movie stereotyped both Mexicans and trans women.

“The entire time I was watching it I had a really weird feeling in my stomach because to me it seemed like the filmmaker was painting trans women as liars,” Cruz said. “Liars and people that can’t tell the truth and they don’t know who they are.”

Amelia Hansford, a trans woman, trashed the film in Pink News: As a trans woman, this is why I think Emilia Pérez is sub-par, disingenuous, harmful nonsense.

Wow:

Emilia Pérez is primarily a film about being reborn, and it tries to use the idea of transitioning to convey that through her transition, Emilia is trying to repent for the sins she committed in her time as cartel boss. The issue with this is that transition isn’t a moral decision, and the act of transitioning alone doesn’t somehow absolve you of your past self. It isn’t a death, nor is it a rebirth.

Instead, Emilia continues to use contacts from the cartel, manipulates her family into trusting and spending time with her, becomes physically aggressive near the film’s ending when reconnecting doesn’t pan out, and even opts to threaten her wife, played by Selena Gomez, with financial blackmail.

None of this is framed in a way that makes any thematic sense and ends up showcasing Emilia as yet another psychopathic trans character to add to the pile.

Just another stake through the heart of the Oscars and why no one is paying attention to them anymore. Woke killed it.

All trans people are liars. They pretend to be women when they really are men and men when they are women. No matter how strong their mental illness is it can’t override genetics.

Live and Let Live. If they are happier living as the opposite sex, that’s their issue.

      Just don’t make me participate.

my friend has a son who transitioned via hormones about 8 years ago. 3 years ago, he told her “I felt like everyone was lying to me when they said I was a woman. I will always be slightly feminine.” and he transitioned back. kept the same girlfriend throughout the entire process (and she was a lesbian for those years??? but not anymore?? maybe, I am so confused)

When movies have trans pop people lying about who they are they should be charged with fraud.

A chromosome check would settle this once and for all.

Grotesque.

Last year HE would have won.

Now I’m honestly not so sure. The tide has truly turned on the trans nonsense and the normies are no longer scared to say what they really think.

Hollywoke is still unsalvageable, but I think the ones counting the votes are going to cheat and make sure this MAN doesn’t win because that would be the complete end of the Oscars as an institution as anything but a pointless show By The Elite For The Elite.

    Old and cold: #OscarsSoWhite
    New and bold: #OscarsSoPatriarchy

He’ll still win, but no one will care, and few will notice. After two days the headlines will be gone, and after three days the movie will be out of theaters.

It’s a last gasp for attention from a dying Hollywood.

the Oscars as an institution as anything but a pointless show By The Elite For The Elite.
It already is, and has been for at least 40 years.

“The tide has truly turned on the trans nonsense and the normies are no longer scared to say what they really think.”
But the Oscar judges (peers) are Hollywood celebrities, not normies.

Starting with the release of Jaws in 1975 (right?) I didn’t miss many major motion pictures. At least one a week if not more. I loved cinema.

Then somewhere along the way I stopped going. It was less me than it was the utter garbage that Hollywood was putting out. I found myself being lectured to instead of being entertained.

So when a story runs that a hideously ugly man is being nominated for an Oscar for playing a hideously ugly woman, frankly my dear I don’t give a damn.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences?

Well, they have science in their name, so no doubt they must be biologists. After all, even Supreme Court justices have to be biologists in order to tell the difference.

After all, Hollywood is the land of make believe!

Nobody watches that stupid show anymore anyways.

The sound you now hear are thousands of Hollywood feminists’ heads exploding. It’s one thing for other women to lose jobs and opportunities to mentally ill DIDs (Dudes In Dresses), or to be forced to undress in a locker room in from of a “woman” with a 5 o’clock shadow and an e******n. It’s quite another if the Hollywood feminists have to suffer through it.

Might have had some enthusiasm if it was for best ACTOR!

The Oscars are dead. They’re the Hugo awards of movies.

If the number is 3, do you want the over or the under on the number of times he derisively mentions Trump in his acceptance speech, should he win?

If Hollywood has a modicum of self-control and self-preservation, they could give it to Demi Moore. But, they won’t. You can tell by the nominations themselves. Of all the nominees in the major categories, I’ve only seen ONE of the films (Dune: Part Two). The rest of them I’ve largely never even heard of until reading the list just now. An industry that wants to change wouldn’t nominate those pictures. He’s a shoe-in, IMO.

He is the first trans to be nominated for an Oscar.

He’s not the first person to be nominated in the opposite gender, is he? I thought that the thing, Jaye something or other, from The Crying Game got nominated. BTW, that movie was awful. And stupid. And repulsive.

I also thought the girl who played the guy photographer, Billy Kwan I think it was, in The Year of Living Dangerously (great!!! movie) was nominated.

Maybe my memory is faulty. The Year of Living Dangerously was a classic, and then it had more importance after 2008 because it detailed the sort of world and characters that Barky grew up in.

Dolce Far Niente | January 23, 2025 at 1:49 pm

How does this work, exactly? A mentally ill male actor who pretends he’s a woman, pretends he’s a man who pretends he’s a woman?

I need a scorecard. Or not, since none of this has the slightest relevance to real life. Anyway, didn’t Hollywood just burn down?

“…the filmmaker was painting trans women as liars”

you are liars. first and foremost, you lie to yourselves. then you stamp your feet and demand that we all embrace and ‘affirm’ your mental illness and associated delusion

darlin, a ‘lady dick’ is still a dick

ThePrimordialOrderedPair | January 23, 2025 at 1:53 pm

There really is not much difference between transes and actors. They are all just playing pretend for their lives/livelihoods. Professional schizophrenics, if you will.

BTW, it’s funny how females like to stress that they are “actors” but they are happy to call a guy pretending to be a female an “actress” with no complaint. Typical Western leftism. Cognitive dissonance incarnate.

Lucifer Morningstar | January 23, 2025 at 1:54 pm

Whatever. Can’t even remember the last time I watched the Oscars™. Might be two or three decades ago? Just over-privileged, liberal actors giving other over-privileged, liberal actors participation awards for being in movies no average, normal person would ever want to go and see. So this time around I’ll make doubly sure not to watch as the Oscars™ crash and burn with their DEI equity nonsense.

“And, the Oscar for Best Impersonation of a Woman by a Male Malignant Narcissist-Misogynist, goes to….”

“…the filmmaker was painting trans women as liars”

Liars or deceitful deceivers. Take your pick.

Either one works for me.

I haven’t watched an awards show in probably 45 years. Because they have always been like this – full of pride and look-at-me and how-great-am-I. Transgenderism is simply human pride writ VERY boldly. So it fits in perfectly well with all of the celebrities. Meh.

“None of this is framed in a way that makes any thematic sense and ends up showcasing Emilia as yet another psychopathic trans character to add to the pile.”

Do…do they think that a drug cartel boss wouldn’t be psychopathic and violent? And that it probably isn’t someone you should look to to portray trans in a positive light?

Lind Hunt had the best supporting performance of either gender in 1985’s Year of Living Dangerously. She was nominated as best supporting actress, even though she played a man.

It won’t surprise me if Fetterman votes for Hegseth.
He may very well not but I can see the possibility of him doing so.

I’ll watch the Oscars as soon they have Ricky Gervais emcee.

I thought Dan Blocker died decades ago.

henrybowman in reply to MAJack. | January 23, 2025 at 9:06 pm

Hey, Dan Blocker was one good lookin’ cowpuncher. The cows turned around when they saw him comin’ you betcha.

Anacleto Mitraglia | January 24, 2025 at 6:38 am

I do not intend to see the movie, so I have no idea how good or bad it is, still: if he makes a credible female, being an actor’s job to credibly pretend, wouldn’t he rather deserve an award as a MALE actor?

Man (used as an exasperative idiom here), if this flick doesn’t get my butt back in a big-chain theater (with booze and recliners) and mine eyes back on the Oscars telecast, I swear to Gaia nothing will!
