Latest news on the LA fire and water systems- Friday, officials confirmed that the reservoir had been down for nearly a year —closing in February 2024—for maintenance to the cover of the reservoir.
The New York Times reports that a contractor was hired in November to fix a crack in the cover. It is unclear why the reservoir had to be shut down for that extended period of time.
“ Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.”
– H.L. Mencken.
(There’s another Mencken quote about hoisting flags that is timely as well.)
The “climate change” rallying cry isn’t working this time in face of obvious incompetence at a very basic level.
As to having lesbians at the helm of vital departments within the city of Los Angeles for no other purpose than for political swells to beat their chest over how tolerant they are well that’s been a raging disaster. I don’t care who you sleep with but you better be competent at what you’re charged with doing.
It’s not an original comment but it’s one I agree with: if you want water to come out of a fire hydrant reliability go find a white guy named Earl who has horned rimmed Buddy Holly glasses, a plastic pocket protector who is very proud of his antique slide rule collection.
