Report: Syrian Man ‘Freed’ by CNN a Member of Assad’s Torture Squad

“He participated in military operations on several fronts in Homs in 2014, killed civilians, and was responsible for detaining and torturing numerous young men in the city without cause or on fabricated charges.”

CNN journalist Clarissa Ward documented her and her team rescuing a prisoner from a Syrian prison last week. The video went viral.

Verify-Sy, which describes itself as “an independent and unbiased platform” that fact-checks info out of Syria, ran the name Adel Gharbel, which is what he gave CNN.

The organization couldn’t find a man by that name from Homs.

Instead, Verify-Sy identified the man as Salama Mohammad Salama (emphasis mine):

The Verify-Sy team searched public records for the name “Adel Gharbal” to verify the circumstances and duration of his detention but found no results. Gharbal, who claimed to hail from Homs and whose dialect supported this claim, prompted further inquiries in the city. The team discovered that his real name is “Salama Mohammad Salama,” a revelation that brought shocking details to light. Salama, known as “Abu Hamza,” is a first lieutenant in Syrian Air Force Intelligence, notorious for his activities in Homs. Residents of the Al-Bayyada neighborhood identified him as frequently stationed at a checkpoint in the area’s western entrance, infamous for its abuses.

Abu Hamza reportedly managed several security checkpoints in Homs and was involved in theft, extortion, and coercing residents into becoming informants. According to locals, his recent incarceration—lasting less than a month—was due to a dispute over profit-sharing from extorted funds with a higher-ranking officer. This led to his detention in one of Damascus’s cells, as per neighborhood sources.

The man hid in a locked cell and appeared to be in great shape despite the awful conditions and treatment of prisoners in the prison. I doubt anyone would look like he did if they didn’t see the sun for three months, as he claimed.

Verify-Sy published two audios from residents in Al-Bayyada:

He participated in military operations on several fronts in Homs in 2014, killed civilians, and was responsible for detaining and torturing numerous young men in the city without cause or on fabricated charges. Many were targeted simply for refusing to pay bribes, rejecting cooperation, or even for arbitrary reasons like their appearance. These details were corroborated by families of victims and former detainees who spoke with Verify-Sy.

In addition to his violent past, residents testified that Abu Hamza has been attempting to garner sympathy since the fall of the regime, claiming he was “forced” into committing his crimes. The Verify-Sy team also learned that he deactivated his social media accounts and changed his phone number, presumably to erase evidence of his involvement in armed activities and war crimes.

So, did CNN fabricate the story?

Or did the man hide because he didn’t want to be found since it sounds like everyone wanted him dead?

Maybe even both.

“We have subsequently been investigating his background and are aware that he may have given a false identity,” CNN told The New York Post. “We are continuing our reporting into this and the wider story.”

Birds of a feather….

If it had been up to CNN Hezbollah would be at full strength today and that man would still be torturing prisoners.

The jury is out on if the people in charge now will be an improvement, status quo, or significantly worst.

However CNN was a major part of the Hamas Arsenal and is still a major part of the arsenal of Hamas and Hezbollah.

It is disgusting to see them trying to ride the wave of euphoria of Assad being overthrown because had it been up to them Assad would be more powerful than ever.

There were lots of doubts at the outset of the veracity of this “news” event. The dud was too “clean” & fat.too have been a real prisoner. I’m not sure if the ‘reporter’ was duped, or part of the fake news report. Not sure it matters at this point

As bad as the pan-arabists were (and they were absolutely awful, dangerous, destructive and insane) there is absolutely no doubt, whatsoever, that the pan-islamists are far worse.

There is only one solution to the problems emanating from the Arab/Persian/Muslim world and that is to retake control of the gulf oil fields from them. Without the fields the APM world has exactly ZERO power. With them, the APM world can (and does and will) menace civilization until there is nothing left either of them or of us. Retaking the oil fields is the easy and bloodless way out of this fatal threat.

I should not have written “only one solution”. What I meant was that that was the easiest, cleanest, cheapest, and most bloodless solution to a problem that will have to be solved sooner or later. I meant “only one smart solution”.

If Eisenhower hadn’t given Iran the oilfields that rightfully belonged to the European and American companies that had discovered and developed them, the problem might not have arisen in the first place. But he hated the British for some reason, and decided to screw them no matter who else got hurt, especially Israel.

For people who think Republicans have always been good for Israel and Democrats bad, I remind them that the worst US president of all for Israel, worse than Carter or 0bama, was Eisenhower the Republican. And that until about 1970 the Dems were the pro-Israel party and the GOP was cool to hostile towards Israel.

If Eisenhower had not courted Iran by forcing the turnover of oilfields the Iranian Islamists would have still taken the properties when the Shah fell.

What courting Iran got was as long as it was still a monarchy it was with the West including being openly allied to Israel during the time of the Shah.

I also do not see how Eisenhower could have foreseen the fall of the Shah.

The Shah was not Assad, his support was from within Iran.

The CIA propaganda effort to whip up public support for restoring the Shah was good. But there was no need to force the British to give up the oilfields. There was no reason for that. The Shah would have been glad to return to power, and to be allied with the West, whether or not he was given the oilfields as a gift. Oilfields that did not rightfully belong to him, to the state of Iran, or to Eisenhower.

I fully agree with you the Islamists are bad.

How do you know this current government will not collapse?

Right now we have no idea what direction Syria will go in.

The only thing we know is we saw the end of Assad.

Unpossible!!

According to Nanzi Pelousi and the rest of the dem traitors who violated US law to carry out their own foreign policy and go prostrate themselves at his feet in Syria, the Chinless Assad was “a real reformer”.

If CNN’s moral capital sinks any lower, Elon’s vice-president’s secretary’s uncle will be able to afford to buy it.

“And, the Oscar for best impersonation of an alleged victim, by an Islamofascist/Muslim terrorist/despot, goes to… Salama M. Salama!!!” [the Hollywood crowd in the theater cheers and swoons]

Think about this silly claim by CNN. The “Prisoner” is clean, beard is neatly trimmed, his fingernails clean and trimmed, the lock on the jail had to be shot open but he was asleep under a clean blanket lying on the floor and had to be awakened! This is total BS! The MSM has gotten away with lies like this for so long that they don’t realize the jig is up!
