Harris Campaign’s Internal Polling ‘Never Saw’ Her Beating Trump

Harris Campaign’s Internal Polling ‘Never Saw’ Her Beating Trump

“I think it surprised people, because there was these public polls that came out in late September, early October, showing us with leads that we never saw.”

VP Kamala Harris’s campaign senior adviser, David Plouffe, admitted their internal polling never reflected the public polls.

From HuffPost:

“We were hopeful. I don’t know how optimistic we were, but we thought, OK, this is tied, and if a couple things break our way [we could win],” David Plouffe, a senior adviser to the campaign, said Tuesday on the “Pod Save America” podcast in a joint interview with fellow Harris campaign alums Jen O’Malley Dillon, Quentin Fulks and Stephanie Cutter.

Plouffe said the campaign’s internal polling never had Harris ahead of Trump.

“We didn’t get the breaks we needed on Election Day,” he said. “I think it surprised people, because there was these public polls that came out in late September, early October, showing us with leads that we never saw.”

Of course, it seems it never occurred to these people that Harris was the problem.

It all goes back to President Joe Biden.

Cutter claimed Harris was loyal to Biden, putting her in a corner because she could not say anything negative about him.

Harris told The View she could not think of anything she’d do differently, which confused many of us. Why wouldn’t she differentiate herself from Biden? Well, that would mean distancing herself from the administration she belongs to:

Cutter said the campaign heard the second-guessing ― but, she said, Harris was merely being true to herself and loyal to Biden, and saying otherwise would have backfired.

“We knew we had to show her as her own person and point to the future and not try to rehash the past,” Cutter said. “But she also felt that she was part of the administration, and unless we said something like, ‘Well, I would have handled the border completely differently,’ we were never going to satisfy anybody.”

“She had tremendous loyalty to President Biden,” Cutter continued. “Imagine if we said, ‘Well, we would have taken this approach on the border.’ Imagine the round of stories coming out after that, of people saying, ‘Well, she never said that in the meeting.’”

I honestly do not know what Harris ran on except abortion and “not Trump.”

Trump ran ads on Harris supporting taxpayers funding sex changes on prisoners. Why didn’t the campaign counter those ads?

Fulks insisted that countering Trump’s attacks on Harris meant having the campaign “playing on their field” instead of introducing Harris on their “own terms.”

OK, yeah, I could see that, but polls showed those ads against Harris did help some independents move to Trump.

Why? Probably because we cannot afford anything, and paying for body-altering surgeries is one of the last things we want to do!

But let’s go back to blaming Biden.

Harris inherited a deficit from Biden. Jon Favreau, a former speech writer for former President Barack Obama, said internal White House polls showed Trump winning 400 electoral votes over Biden.

Favreau also went down the blame Biden route:

“Joe Biden’s decision to run for president again was a catastrophic mistake,” Favreau added. “They refused to acknowledge until very late, that anyone could be upset about inflation. And they just kept telling us that his presidency was historic and it was the greatest economy ever.”

Favreau accused Team Biden of “shivving” Vice President Harris and telling reporters quietly that she could not win.

“I’m done being generous,” Favreau said, echoing a long line of Obama alum who have always disdained Biden and his inner circle.

An Economist/YouGov poll showed Harris supporters blaming Biden way more than Harris:

An Economist/YouGov poll asked Harris supporters straight-up whether they blamed Harris, Biden or a third option: “neither, it was just a bad year for Democrats.” That third option was the runaway winner, at 53 percent of Harris supporters.

But notably, significantly more Harris voters were willing to blame Biden (24 percent) than Harris (just 6 percent). Again, this is despite the fact that Biden wasn’t actually on the ballot.

    She didn’t run. She was chosen. Because even though she was never going to win, she raised over a billion dollars. And, a lot of people skimmed off the top

    They certainly had fun going through a billion dollars of donor money

    The hubris that let her think she earned her Senate and VP slot combined with the arrogance she shows by condescending rhetoric and vitriol at staff who don’t “Yes, Ma’am” her would not let her turn it down. If your as monumentally unaware as she is it does not take many sycophant’s whispering in your ear to convince you of anything that feeds into your delusional greatness.

    I’m sure that far from just accepting it she threatened to sink any nominee that wasn’t her by crying about how even the Democrats hate POC and Women.

They seem to forget how much they wanted Biden to dump her, the worst VP ever, but what a great choice as his successor!

    As to Democrats overall, by the reaction of so many, it seems they are still in denial over the change in culture where they are now rejected, no matter how hard they try to resist or re-purpose themselves. Pelosi, Schumer, Biden, Harris, Schiff?

    From Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises:

    “How did you go bankrupt?” Bill asked.
    “Two ways,” Mike said. “Gradually, then suddenly.”

    Unless Democrats change in earnest, the numbers will continue to peel away. People are starting to see that it’s good and fun to be American again, and to stand for the American values that created this unique system for humankind.

Didn’t stop them from spending like an entire navy’s worth of sailors in Bangkok.

I am glad that they are blaming Biden more for the loss than Harris. That offers some hope she runs again and, at a minimum, messes up their process.

Harris got almost 75 million votes, to Trump’s 77 million votes. Trump did amazingly impossibly well. His victory is a triumph for all Americans who see a future for this county and a testament to his determination and drive. But let’s not kid ourselves. Harris got a LOT of votes. This tells me anyone or anything the Dems nominate is going to get a huge number of votes. She was a terrible candidate, sure. Doesn’t matter. I may be going out on limb here, but who among Dems would have done better? That sociopath Obama? HRC? The idiot left hasn’t been vanquished. They still run everything. I’m not sure I believe the Harris numbers that are still trickling in. Dems are liars and cheats and now that no one is looking, they may be trying their old tricks, i.e, I’d pay to see a statewide real election audit done in CA or CO (not a stupid recount). I look at numbers in some now permanently blue states (AZ, CO, NM) and I begin to actually believe the Dems want open borders to ramp up their votes.

    Even if illegals aren’t permitted to vote, they can be counted towards representation in the House. The establishment of sanctuary States and cities wasn’t done for humanitarian purposes. It was done to draw illegals into Blue areas in order to get a permanent stranglehold on the House.

      It’s something they only get a benefit from every ten years. Anyone who came in during the Biden administration will not be counted until 2030, and thus the states they’re in won’t get any benefit from them until then.

This is good news for the GOP because it shows how dumb Ds are when it comes to thinking about whom they will vote for. If Harris is their choice in 2028, they will lose again!

    You need to differentiate between the GOP and MAGA.

    Trump was and remains deeply unpopular among establishment GOP/ Uniparty , as was demonstrated by the starvation of MAGA candidates during this last election, and the betrayal in the Senate which is ongoing.

    Any of the typical milquetoast candidates the GOP puts up in 2026 or 2028 who is NOT MAGA simply will fail to garner the support that Trump has seen. Which won’t bother the eGOP at all, since their plans are to TEA Party (i.e. crush and eliminate) any populist MAGA movement within the party.

Unintentional irony alert

Amazing. Harris was “border czar” (“czarina”?) She had every opportunity to ‘handle the border completely differently’ and didn’t. Incredibly tone-deaf that her defenders used the border as an example of something she should have done or said something about that would have differentiated her from Joe.

But this is not entirely her fault. Exactly how do you become the VP of an administration that’s responsible for the border disaster, and then suggest how it can be better-handled without 1.) voicing opposition to what was actually official policy; and 2.) admitting, no matter how indirectly, that the administration’s policy did, in fact, create the disaster (intentionally or not)?

    Amazing. Harris was “border czar” (“czarina”?) She had every opportunity to ‘handle the border completely differently’ and didn’t.

    Except that her campaign was almost certainly correct when it pointed out that she wasn’t “border czar”, and never had any authority over the border.

    The Trump campaign and the right-wing media had plenty of time to produce even one statement, from Biden or anyone representing him, to the effect that Harris was in charge of the border, or referring to her as a “border czar”. No one has yet produced any such quote. I can only conclude that it’s because there never was any such quote. The Harris campaign’s position, that the news industry had made the whole thing up, is therefore probably correct.

    (The fact that all the news industry players who had reported it recanted it during the campaign is neither here nor there, since they are not honest people, and would have recanted it whether it was true or not. But in this case it does seem not to have been true.)

      On March 24, 2021, Biden took the stage at the White House and seemed to hand the keys on the issue over to his vice president.
      “The vice president has agreed — among the multiple other things that I have her leading, and I appreciate it — agreed to lead our diplomatic effort to work with those nations to accept returnees and enhance migration enforcement at their borders,” Biden said.

        Read what you just quoted. That is exactly what he said, and it has nothing to do with the border.

        That’s exactly the Harris campaign’s point that everyone here laughed at. She was never given any authority over the border at all, let alone made a “czar” over it.

        She was put in charge of negotiations with Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras to address the so-called “root causes” that were persuading so many of their citizens to pull up roots and sneak into the USA. That’s all. If she were successful (which was never going to happen), then those people would happily stay home, and thus the border crisis would be alleviated.

        These negotiations would take place in Tegucigalpa, San Salvador, and Guatemala City, not on the US/Mexican border. That’s why she was so puzzled when she was asked whether she’d visited the border, and made that otherwise-bizarre-sounding remark about never having visited Europe either. She was right that she had no reason to visit the border, because it was no part of her brief. Visiting it would make as much sense as visiting Europe.

      This is just factually wrong on every level. Democrats PROCLAIMED proudly she was the border czar and as such would be able to use her incredible personality to effect change on the border (which we got intentionally):

      Just because you don’t believe it doesn’t mean everyone else is uninformed 😂😂

      The Trump campaign referenced dozens of videos from CNN, MSNBC, et. al. where Harris was referred to as the “Border Czar” along with Biden conferring that title upon her. That implies she’s the point person responsible for formulating policies related to illegal immigration through the borders.

      Now, if you want to pick nits, there is no such federal officer as a border czar. But that does not magically wipe away a political responsibility.

        Neither CNN nor MSNBC nor any of those “alia” you reference were the president, or spoke for him, or were in any position to represent him. No one in the administration ever called her that or implied it.

        There could be a “border czar”; “czars” are never federal officers, they are advisors to the president, whom he puts in charge of some area of policy. So there was nothing to prevent Biden from giving her such authority if he wanted to; but the evidence is that he never did and never thought to. And she never claimed or pretended he had. It was all an invention of “CNN, MSNBC, et al.”

      H. Res. 1371

      In the House of Representatives, U. S.,
      July 25, 2024.

      Whereas, on March 24, 2021, President Biden tasked Vice President Kamala Harris with working to address illegal immigration into the United States, including “root causes”, and came to be known colloquially as the Biden administration’s “border czar”;

      Whereas it took Vice President Kamala Harris 93 days as the border czar before finally visiting the southern border on June 25, 2021;

      Whereas when Vice President Kamala Harris traveled near the southern border for the first time on June 25, 2021, she decided to travel to El Paso, Texas, 800 miles away from the lower Rio Grande;

      Whereas former United States Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz stated that during his two years in the position, “I’ve never had one conversation with the president [Biden] or the vice president [Harris], for that matter. I was the Chief of the Border Patrol, I commanded 21,000 people. That’s a problem.”;

      Whereas current United States Border Patrol Chief Jason Owens stated that Vice President Kamala Harris has not spoken with him since he was appointed in July 2023;

      Whereas, since Joe Biden and Kamala Harris took office, there have been over 9.7 million illegal immigrant encounters nationwide;

      Whereas, since Joe Biden and Kamala Harris took office, there have been over 7.9 million illegal immigrant encounters at the United States southern border;

      Whereas, since Joe Biden and Kamala Harris took office, there have been roughly 2 million known gotaways who evaded the United States Border Patrol;

      Whereas this number represents more known gotaways than in the previous decade combined;

      Whereas, in May 2024, there were 170,723 illegal immigrant encounters at the United States southern border, a 185 percent increase from the average May encounter total under President Trump;

      Whereas May 2024 was the 39th straight month where monthly illegal immigrant encounters have been higher than even the highest month seen under President Trump;

      Whereas illegal immigrants with violent criminal histories who have murdered innocent Americans like Laken Riley, Jocelyn Nungary, Rachel Morin, and others throughout the United States, pose an existential threat to the safety and security of the American people;

      Whereas, in June 2024, NBC News reported that over 400 illegal immigrants with ties to an ISIS-affiliated smuggling network entered the United States under Border Czar Harris’s leadership, and that the whereabouts of over 50 of these individuals were unknown;

      Whereas, under Border Czar Harris’s leadership, multiple illegal aliens with terrorist ties have been released into the United States;

      Whereas, to date in fiscal year 2024, there have been a record-breaking 31,077 Chinese nationals encountered at the southwest border;

      Whereas the Biden border crisis is costing the United States approximately $150.7 billion each year and each taxpayer $1,156 each year;

      Whereas, in April 2024, Republicans on the House Committee on Homeland Security released documents showing the Biden administration, under Border Czar Harris, flew at least 400,000 illegal immigrants into the country through the abuse of parole programs; and

      Whereas President Biden’s and Border Czar Harris’s far left Democrat open border policies are to blame for this historic crisis, and in August 2022, Biden and his administration decided to make the border crisis significantly worse by formally ending former President Trump’s successful Remain in Mexico program: Now, therefore, be it

      Resolved, That the House of Representatives—

      (1) strongly condemns the Biden Administration and its Border Czar, Kamala Harris’s, failure to secure the United States border;

      (2) affirms that the American people deserve elected officials who understand the gravity of the crisis at the border and who will execute the policies to fix the border crisis; and

      (3) clearly and firmly states that the continuation of the Biden, Harris border policies would be disastrous for both the United States and the American people.

        You know what that resolution is missing? One single shred of evidence that she was ever put in charge of the border or made a “border czar”. It’s all assertion piled on assertion, without any attempt to back it up. It’s a political statement, not fact.

So Harris’s internal polls showed her trailing Trump, but publicly available polls showed the opposite. Clearly, like the stenographers of the DemoncRat party (a/k/a the MSM), the publicly available polls publish garbage.

“I honestly do not know what Harris ran on…..”

She didn’t run at all. She was carried. But a billion dollars wasn’t enough to get her across the finish line.

    Harris ran on a disinformation campaign. I could not find very much she said that was true. Even the fluff “It’s time to turn the page” was disingenuous, she wanted to strongly continue the same policies.

I’m also in the “no idea what her policies are” camp. I pay fairly close attention to politics and while I didn’t go to her website I listened to a number of her speeches and interviews. When she was not spewing word salad worthy of a late night gathering of stoned undergraduates she never really articulated any concrete positions beyond saying Trump was Hitler and going to put illegals in camps, stop all abortion and IVF (no idea where IVF came from, probably Tampon Tim) and murder lesbians or something. She tried the same “Vote against Trump don’t vote for me” Biden strategy but it’s hard to make it work when you tell people how great everything is and they are paying $5 for butter.

With about 3-weeks to go in the Election, Mark Halperin said on the Carlson show that neither campaign’s internal polling showed – or ever showed – Harris with a polling lead. Whatever you think of the guy – he was one of the many ‘MeToo’ scalps that were taken – he has impeccable sources. He broke the ‘Biden is withdrawing’ from the race about 4-days before Biden withdrew from the race and did so with an uncanny level of detail.

So Kraft durch Freude didn’t work! Who wudda thunk it?

So that explains the 20 million dollar campaign deficit:

Use it because we’re going to lose it.

And there Virginia, the proof that you should always have a full primary season no matter.

With the short time Biden gave Harris to wage a campaign, only an exceptional campaigner like Reagan or Obama would have had any chance of pulling it off. And let’s face it. Harris was not only a horrible campaigner, but also a horrible executive. She simply isn’t bright or skilled enough to carry that job. And it was hilarious to watch the spurned Biden slip a shiv into his replacement at every opportunity, with a smile on his face. It was the weirdest election I’ve ever witnessed. If Trump and Vance are able to deliver significantly on their promises. We may be looking at a very long-term Republican majority, as the Democrats are shedding their moderates, and the most active part of their party is also the most toxic.

So here we have real fraud. What say you, Alvin Bragg and Tish James? Perhaps indicting Kamala and her minions is in order?
