Border Patrol, ICE Morale Surge After Trump Victory

“There are a lot of agents that had originally said that they would retire if President Trump did not win. And now those same agents are saying they’re going to hold back on their retirement because they want to serve under this administration again…”

National Border Patrol Council President Paul Perez told Fox News that morale in the border patrol and ICE has soared due to Donald Trump’s victory over VP Kamala Harris.

Trump easily won the support of the union:

“The morale is through the roof,” National Border Patrol Council President Paul Perez said in an interview. “We’ve received hundreds of calls, texts, emails, just saying how happy the agents are.”

“There are a lot of agents that had originally said that they would retire if President Trump did not win. And now those same agents are saying they’re going to hold back on their retirement because they want to serve under this administration again, because they know exactly how it was during this first administration, and they know this one’s going to be even better,” he said.

The Biden-Harris administration angered the border patrol when it backed claims agents whipped Haitian illegal immigrants in 2021.

Even after reports cleared the agents, the administration refused to apologize or acknowledge they were wrong.

Perez also hopes Trump’s victory will help recruitment, especially since the agents were happier under his first administration:

“We’ve always had a recruiting problem. And so right now, with President Trump coming into office, a lot of people are going to want to do this job. A lot of people have shown interest previously, but they were hesitant to apply and work for the previous administration,” he said. “So under Trump, we’re going to have a good amount of recruits to choose from.”

He said that under the Trump administration, agents receive greater job satisfaction because they know that the people they catch will be removed “instead of allowing them to abuse our asylum system.”

Perez said agents were enthused by a number of policies, including the potential return of Remain in Mexico, which kept migrants in Mexico as they waited for their asylum claims to be adjudicated.

“Remain in Mexico, the end of catch release, obviously, that’s a big one as well. But Remain in Mexico will probably turn the magnet off. It will allow us to secure the border even better,” he said.

It’s not really surprising that people want to do the job they were hired to do.

I read an account when I was in grade school about a psychology experiment in which they offered lumberjacks three times their contract wage to chop at trees with the wrong (blunt) sides of their axes. They did it for a few days, after which the subjects started dropping out and returning to their old jobs. They asked all the dropouts to explain their choices. Many of them were in line with the jack who said, “I’m sorry, guys, but I just have to see the chips fly,”

I’ve lived by that principle all my life. But I’ve worked in Washington, and I know parasites that would still be out there hammering those trees.

What better indication does anyone need to realize that the border was being mishandled, no, abused, by Biden/Harris? The people on the ground know the truth.

The enthusiasm of the BP and ICE alone should make many potential invaders rethink their plans.

Enact California’s proposition 187 at the nationallevel. Start charging the countries of origin for deportation costs and the medical/educational costs their illegals cost the US taxpayer. This can be through withholding foreign aid, tariffs, taxing remittances, whatever it takes. Employers need to be hit hard for hiring iillegals. Make it so illegals that self deport can immediately apply to reurn through the legal process. If they otherwise get caught and deported, 20 year ban. Arrested for an unrelated crime (DUI etc) deport them with a lifetime ban. Family separation? Ask laken Riley’s family about that. Ask Jocelyn Nungaray’s family about that. Time to get serious about illegal immigration.

Totalitarians are never wrong.
