U.S. Intel on Israeli Retaliatory Attack Reportedly Leaked to Iranians
The Axios: “The leak could be an attempt to disrupt the Israeli operation” in retaliation to Iranian missiles attack.
Amid efforts by the Biden administration to limit the scope of a retaliatory Israeli strike against Iran, the country’s detailed war plan has allegedly been leaked to Iranian-linked social media accounts, Israeli journalist Barak Ravid reported Saturday in the Axios news website.
The leak contains detailed information on Israel’s military preparations for a strike on potential Iranian targets supposed to have been collected by U.S. intelligence services, Ravid wrote.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government has vowed to hit back at Iran after the Shia-Islamic regime in early October launched over 180 missiles into Israel. “The alleged leak comes as Israel completes weeks of preparations for a retaliation against Iran, which attacked Israel with a barrage of ballistic missiles on Oct. 1,” the news outlet notes.
The attack plan may have been leaked to Tehran-linked accounts in a bid to sabotage Israel’s retaliation to the Iranian missile strike. “The leak could be an attempt to disrupt the Israeli operation,” Axios article says. “The Pentagon and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence declined to comment on the leaked documents, but did not dispute their authenticity.’
The Axios reported the details of the intelligence breach:
A Telegram channel by the name “Middle East Spectator” claimed on Friday that it had received documents from a source in the U.S. intelligence community about Israel’s preparations for an attack on Iran.
The Telegram channel routinely publishes pro-Iranian content, and the profile of the X account affiliated with the channel says it is located in Iran.
The documents include an alleged Visual Intelligence report by the Department of Defense National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) distributed inside the U.S. intelligence community earlier this week.
The authenticity of the documents has not been independently verified by Axios.
The alleged report details measures that have been carried out in recent days at several Israeli Air Force bases, including the transfer of advanced munitions which, according to the report, were intended for an attack on Iran.
It also states that according to U.S. signals intelligence, the Israeli Air Force conducted a large exercise this week involving intelligence planes and likely fighter jets trained for a possible attack against Iran.
The alleged intelligence report also detailed preparations in Israeli drone units for an attack against Iran.
The report of the alleged U.S. intelligence leak comes as President Joe Biden on Friday declared that he was looking for a “way that potentially ends their conflict in the Middle East for a while,” suggesting that Israel could back away from its retaliation plan.
“Joe Biden, the US president, said on Friday there was an opportunity to deal with Israel and Iran in a way that potentially ends their conflict in the Middle East for a while,” the British newspaper Guardian reported. “Biden told reporters in Germany that the ‘back and forth’ between Iran and Israel could be stopped, and a ceasefire was possible in Lebanon too,” the UK daily added.
The quality of the leaked intelligence suggests that under President Biden’s watch, the U.S. intelligence services are conducting “very close and detailed surveillance … of Israel’s preparations for an attack on Iran, including the use of satellites to spy on operations carried out at Israeli Air Force bases,” the Axios article notes.
“The potential leak could be the sign of very serious security breach within the U.S. intelligence community that resulted in top secret classified information reaching a Telegram channel affiliated with Iran,” the article concludes.

Axios hasn’t considered the possibility that Israel deliberately fed bad info knowing it would likely get leaked. The Israelis don’t trust Team Biden-Harris any farther than they can throw them and with good reason.

More likely: its disinformation. Israel has been keeping the Biden admin out of the loop. The Secretary of State and Defense have both complained about it.
Two other possibilities: The State department leaked it to tell Iran “they’re serious, come to the table.” Or less likely, to minimize casualties and prevent an escalation.

If they have something they want kept secret, for example the pagers, they will keep it secret. And that means not telling the Biden administration. This “leak” is probably an intentional message to Iran.

I would not surprised that leaks were directed at the highest levels, the White House. Harris/Biden cannot be trusted.

We don’t have “enemy states” anymore. We have travel advisories, sanction targets, and rogue nations, but no actual enemies. That neuters the constitutional requirements for treason, and that’s the way US politicians prefer it.
The Constitution says nothing about an “enemy state”. It only addresses “Enemies”, which encompasses any state/group/club/ … that is at war with America. Decades of Iranians chanting “Death to America” is pretty much the most convincing declaration of war you can find. It doesn’t matter what our Congress does, Iran has made it very clear that they are an enemy of America and are looking to completely destroy us. He made the promise knowing that he would never be called on to keep it. But in the extremely unlikely event that he were his duty would have been to break it. Were he to keep it anyway, that would have been treason.
I would argue that failure to gain presidential approval was in fact treason.

Personally, I wouldn’t put it past Valshariah Jarrett, who reportedly was the power behind the pallets-full of cash going to Tehran in the dead of night during the first and second Obama terms, to be behind this caper in the third Obama term. That woman is the most likely candidate for the Iranian Candidate, or Taqqiya Sunrise Queen.

She was a senior adviser to Obama on matters involving Iran, and Obama was hell-bent on empowering the mullahs of Iran. Not only would Obama do nothing to help the rioting Iranian dissidents in 2009, he inflicted on the region (and world for that matter) that awful nuclear agreement, and he sent over pallets of cash that Iran could and did use for its Quds Forces. It is fair to assume that Jarrett agreed with this destructive (Jew-hating) strategy, and that she is ideologically so inclined. That this ideology and loyalty to Obama’s policy could cause VJ to leak Israel’s strategy to Iran is not “ridiculous.”

You’ve never lived overseas as a child. I don’t know how long she was in Iran, but she is credited with knowing how to speak Persian (Farsi). I lived in northern Italy as a child, in a culture basically Western but far different (at the time) from the American one. I was six when we moved, so I was enrolled in the first grade in Italian schools before I knew Italian. There is always an emotional attachment to the culture one understood first. I absolutely believe Valerie Jarrett likely has a deep attachment to Iran, as I do to northern Italy. It would be odd if she did not.

Not much more I can add to the discussion. Most of the best points have been made. I will say that others are taking note of this as well, enemy and ally alike. I bet Taiwan is particularly troubled by it because they know whatever the number of Iranian sympathizers there are in the sclerotic US bureaucracy, there are exponentially more CHINESE sympathizers in that same bureaucracy. This critical intelligence leak during a kinetic engagement of a longtime US ally is bad, bad news for Taiwan, Japan, Australia & South Korea.
