Harris Won’t Say if She Still Wants to Legalize Prostitution

Harris Won’t Say if She Still Wants to Legalize Prostitution

In 2008, then-San Francisco District Attorney Harris lashed out against a proposition that would have legalized it in the city. She changed her mind during her 2020 presidential campaign.

I have to credit Alex Thompson for asking VP Kamala Harris’s campaign if she still supports her 2019 positions.

As we’ve found out, Harris has either flip-flopped or remained silent.

Thompson asked the campaign if Harris still wanted to legalize prostitution, as she said during her 2020 presidential campaign.

No one responded to Thompson when he asked the campaign if she aligned more with her 2008 or 2019 position.

In 2019, Harris told The Root she thought sex work should be decriminalized:

Driving the news: In February 2019, The Root asked Harris whether she thought “sex work ought to be decriminalized.” She responded: “I think so, I do.”

  • “When you’re talking about consenting adults, I think that, yes, we should really consider that we can’t criminalize consensual behavior as long as no one is being harmed,” she said.
  • Harris added that people in sex work who hurt “another human being, or profits off of their exploitation” should be criminally prosecuted.
  • Harris also told The Root that when she was the district attorney for San Francisco, “I was advocating then that we need to stop arresting these prostitutes and instead go after the Johns and the pimps, because we were criminalizing the women.”

But in 2008, then-San Francisco District Attorney Harris lashed out at Proposition K, which would have legalized prostitution in the city:

The measure seems particularly abhorrent to San Francisco’s district attorney, Kamala D. Harris, who has made fighting human trafficking a priority.

“I think it’s completely ridiculous, just in case there’s any ambiguity about my position,” Ms. Harris said. “It would put a welcome mat out for pimps and prostitutes to come on into San Francisco.”

Central to Ms. Harris’s objections is the theory that prostitution is a victimless crime. Instead, she said, it exposes prostitutes to drug, gun and sexual crimes, and “compromises the quality of life in a community.”

She also dismisses the argument that prostitutes would be more likely to come forward if their business were not illegal.

“We’re in the practice and habit of protecting victims, not criminalizing victims,” Ms. Harris said, adding that she often reminds juries that the law protects people even if they are prostitutes or drug users. “Our penal code was not created just to protect Snow White,” she said, noting that 65 percent of cases handled by her department’s sexual assault unit involved sex workers as victims.

Even then-San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom rallied against Proposition K.

The voters defeated the proposition, 59.06% to 40.94%.

Harris has tried to portray herself as a moderate compared to 2020. The Democrats tried the same thing with Joe Biden in 2020, but we’ve seen him move far left.

Granted, has Biden been in charge for the past four years? Doubtful.

Harris’s history is full of far-left views. I highly doubt she has changed on any of them.

After all, Harris told CNN that her values have not changed.

now that they call it trafficking to allow the women to be innocent and just go after the males

she has to weigh that fact

the lefts policies which she fully embraces as we know

pushes for women to be subjected to being trafficked so that they can pay their way to america

Stripping presumably is legal because the strippers actually pay the club to dance.

the dm ran the story where kamomala states:

Kamala Harris said she ‘worked her a** off’ under ex-lover mayor Willie Brown… but new information about her time there reveals the truth

so is that the same as prostitution?

if a person uses sex to advance themselves

Pr0stitution: two or more people exchange $$ for sex. ILLEGAL

P0rnography: two or more people exchange $$ for sex – on camera. LEGAL

Now ask yourself ‘Why the distiction?’

I believe Ms. Harris will support this issue out of professional courtesy.

Well, no one has told Kamala whether she’s supposed to be for it or against it. I’m sure once she’s informed she will be able to opine with conviction.

Back when she was SF DA she had the power to not prosecute prostitution cases. She did not need an ordinance. All she had to do was make it a non-priority. They did this for the “rich and famous” who got caught “with their pants down” by SFPD.

A cursory look at the Constitution does not reveal regulating prostitution as one of the enumerated powers. Perhaps I missed something amongst the penumbras, and such.

TBH decriminalization of prostitution isn’t a horrible idea for an adult who freely chooses to sell their sexual access. It isn’t as if statutes trying to prohibit it have been effective…’Worlds oldest profession’. Establish regulation as to location; no street walking but rather bordellos and discrete house calls. Mandatory health screening like the porn industry uses, random checks for consent other basic measures. Place a similar level of ‘sin tax’ as exists on liquor sales. Redirect current LEO $/personnel from anti prostitution efforts to stamping out child trafficking and actual sexual exploitation instead.

Harris Won’t Say if She Still Wants to Legalize Prostitution

She hasn’t been arrested, yet, even though her own commie running mate said that she began her career as a prostitutor.

Harris,

Prostitution is mostly about drugs. Keep your lax policy on drugs and you will always have people being exploited in every way possible to get their next fix.

Harris knows what sex work is like, so she sympathizes with them.

“Harris Won’t Say if She Still Wants to Legalize Prostitution”
I don’t see why she should care, she’s frankly aged out.
Then again, she cares so much about abortion, too, and she doesn’t have a dog in that fight, either.

“When you’re talking about consenting adults, I think that, yes, we should really consider that we can’t criminalize consensual behavior as long as no one is being harmed”
“I was advocating then that we need to stop arresting these prostitutes and instead go after the Johns”
But why, Kammie? Surely Johns are also consenting adults.

In Iceland, unless the law has changed, prostitution is legal for the provider, but not for the customer. Figure that one out. Yes Iceland qualifies as a gynocracy. Women rule. Although Iceland has almost no crime and almost no one in prison. The incarceration rate for the US is about 500 to 600 per hundred thousand. The highest in the world. The figure for Iceland is around 15. What little crime there is comes mostly from foreigners. In Switzerland prostitution is legal, although highly regulated and licensed. There are even drive up sex booths. When the World Economic Forum holds its annual meeting in Davos, hoards of sex workers come to town as the visitors have money and the appetite for service.

BTW the women in Iceland are absolutely gorgeous and very friendly. The food is excellent and you are safe everywhere. It reminds me of the US in the 1950s when no one outside the cities locked their houses or cars. The US has become uncivilized and dangerous except for some rural areas.

As far as I’m concerned, if one legal adult wants to pay another for sex and no coercion is involved it’s a private contract and none of my business. As for Harris, when has she ever committed to anything?

Kamala might need a fall back position if she loses.

Seeing how she came up, she wouldn’t want to block opportunities for other women.

I guess someone explained to her that even if she legalized it now, it might not be retroactive for her.
