Newsom Vetoes Bill Allowing California Illegal Aliens to Apply for $150,000 in Home Loans

Newsom Vetoes Bill Allowing California Illegal Aliens to Apply for $150,000 in Home Loans

There’s no money.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom vetoed AB 1840, which would have given illegal aliens $150,000 for housing through the California Dream for All program because, well, no money.

California Dream for All receives state funding and money from the “California Housing Finance Agency, which generates revenue through mortgage loans and not from taxpayers.”

“Given the finite funding available for CalHFA programs, expanding program eligibility must be carefully considered within the broader context of the annual state budget to ensure we manage our resources effectively,” wrote Newsom.

Newsom added: “For this reason, I am unable to sign this bill.”

Gov. Noisome’s unstated reason for the veto: “Signing it might have had a negative impact on my future Presidential ambitions.”
He can afford to irritate left-wing California Democrats because he isn’t running for anything this year, and the veto will not cause them to run out and vote for Trump.

He isn’t running for anything this year but he is sure running in 2028 and knows what votes will come back to haunt him. Gov Hair Gel is a sleaze but he isn’t stupid when it comes to politics

So are we to believe that the legislature, whose other job is funding programs, was somehow blissfully unaware that there was no money?
More likely this was a clay pigeon sent up to make Newsom look like Quigley.

Blissfully Indifferent to the fact they have no money.

Cal Democrats control the voting machine software, so things can wait.

They didn’t care because when Newsome signed the bill it would be law. The next budget would have appropriated all the money needed for the program

No. They don’t like him nearly well enough to do that for him. Hodge has the right of it; they’re dimly aware that there’s no money but it doesn’t mean anything to them.

Or they did it, not to make him look good by stopping them, but to make themselves look good by passing the measure, and let him be the grinch.

They literally had no money for this. The existing program ran out of money after 11 days.

Lack of money never stopped him before – he’s positioning to run for president.

I despise this governor. But I applaud my enemies when they actually do something good,

HEY CALIFORNIA!

Most citizens had nothing to do with slavery so chances of collecting from them are zip. But don’t despair; running for first female President and descending from Jamaican SLAVE OWNERS, she’s your girl!

Thanks to her massive corruption, she’s also FILTHY RICH! Why wouldn’t a democrat be happy to “SHARE THE WEALTH?

Milhouse in reply to Jmaquis. | September 7, 2024 at 7:50 am

    1. She’s descended from Jamaican slaves And their owners, because that’s how slavery worked.

    2. She’s not filthy rich, just regular rich; less than $10M last I heard. And it’s not really her money, it’s her husband’s. But California is a community property state, so now it’s half hers too.

By the way, I saw an article today that the “hood” and “streets” she grew up in/on was the ritziest community in all of Canada.

        Milhouse in reply to jb4. | September 8, 2024 at 12:41 am

First of all, she did most of her growing up in San Francisco. She only lived in Montreal from the age of 12 to 18.

Second, while Westmount is the fanciest neighborhood in Montreal, there are better ones in Toronto and Vancouver. This list of the top 20 divides Westmount into five sections, and I don’t know in which one she lived, the richest of the five is listed at #8.

    diver64 in reply to Jmaquis. | September 8, 2024 at 9:35 am

Define “filthy rich”. She is rich in my book but an estimated net worth of $8 million isn’t filthy I think. Now, Pelosi on the other hand is.

      Milhouse in reply to diver64. | September 8, 2024 at 4:49 pm

Also, contrary to jmaquis, she didn’t become rich by corruption. All of her wealth is attributable to her marriage, and she’s no richer than anyone else would be who married someone with her husband’s earning power.

Yep,..he’s officially announced for 2028

TargaGTS in reply to rebelgirl. | September 7, 2024 at 7:57 am

Yep. If there’s an October Surprise oppo dump on Harris, there’s a 90% chance that it’s coming from Newsom and not a GOP source.

Does anyone know if the Democrats have a veto-proof majority in the CA legislature? I think they might. But, I’m not certain. If they do and don’t override this, then this was all theater, perhaps engineered by Newsom himself so that he could veto it.
