Pollster Nate Silver Calls on Joe Biden to Resign the Presidency After ABC News Interview

Meanwhile, there is a growing list of Democrats who want Biden to at least drop out of the race.

Pollster Nate Silver is calling on Joe Biden to resign the presidency after his ABC News interview with George Stephanopoulos. Not to just drop out of the 2024 election, but to resign as president of the United States and leave office.

Silver is not exactly known as a right-leaning person, so this seems like kind of a big deal.

FOX News reports:

Pollster Nate Silver urges Biden to resign after ‘incoherent comments’ in ABC interview

Polling expert Nate Silver is calling for President Biden to step down following his Friday night ABC News interview.

The 22-minute interview with George Stephanopoulos was intended to calm the president’s critics following his disastrous debate performance last month — but Silver claimed the back-and-forth made him look even worse.

“This is a pretty incoherent answer including a non-sequitur [complaining] about a New York Times poll, which he incorrectly claims had him down 10 points before the debate (it was actually 3 or 4 points, depending on which version you look at),” Silver said about a clip of Biden describing how he felt throughout the debate.

Silver — who had written a morning column about Biden’s campaign earlier that Friday — claimed he had “wimped out” and deleted a line urging the president to begin transitioning the campaign to Vice President Kamala Harris.

But the pollster said that following the ABC interview, he believed it was time to begin preparations for a new candidate.

“I wimped out in today’s column and deleted a line saying he should formulate a plan to transition the presidency to Harris within 30-60 days, but I’m there now,” Silver said. “Something is clearly wrong here.”

Meanwhile, there is a growing list of Democrats who want Biden to at least drop out of the race.

MSNBC reports:

A running list of top Democrats calling for Biden to drop out

President Joe Biden is facing increasing pressure from some members of his party to withdraw from the 2024 race following his debate debacle last week. In a remarkable drip of defections, some prominent Democrats have publicly urged the president to drop out and have voiced concerns that he cannot win against Donald Trump in November.

Here’s a running list of top Democrats, including sitting members of Congress, who have called for Biden to pull out of the ticket:

Minnesota Rep. Angie Craig

On Saturday morning, Craig became the fifth House Democrat to call for Biden’s withdrawal from the race. She said in a statement that she does not believe Biden can win against Trump, given Biden’s debate performance and “the lack of a forceful response” from him afterward.

“This is not a decision I’ve come to lightly, but there’s simply too much at stake to risk a second Donald Trump presidency,” Craig said.

Illinois Rep. Mike Quigley

Quigley told MSNBC’s Chris Hayes on Friday that he believes Biden should withdraw from the 2024 race, becoming the fourth House Democrat to do so.

“Mr. President, your legacy is set,” Quigley said during an appearance on “All In With Chris Hayes,” shortly before Biden’s high-stakes interview with ABC News aired on Friday.

“We owe you the greatest debt of gratitude,” Quigley continued. “The only thing that you can do now to cement that for all time and prevent utter catastrophe is to step down and let someone else do this.”

Massachusetts Rep. Seth Moulton

Moulton on Thursday became the third sitting House Democrat to call for Biden to step aside, telling WBUR that it was time to “let new leaders rise up and run against Donald Trump.” He said he came to that decision after speaking with fellow Democrats about Biden’s chances in the election.

“That’s what’s most important,” Moulton said. “We have to win.”

There will be more. Democrats find themselves in an impossible situation.

Maybe the deep state will find Oswald’s kid or grandkids and offer them a job …. They are looking for Jack Ruby’s kids or grandkids too!

Is this a pollster’s job?

Any American can say whatever he/she wants. He wants Biden to step down, good. The rest of us can judge Mr. Silver as we wish.

It’s newsworthy, not because we care all that much what he has to say, but because we know the Democrats do, and this will be another knife in their side.

No – it’s not a pollster job. A pollster should be neutral. However Nate Silver may call himself anything he chooses. Still, Democratic Operative by any other name remains an Ass. Opps sorry, Donkey. They always seem the same to me,

He had to do something. The push polling just wasn’t working any more.

I could be wrong. But, I don’t believe he’s a ‘pollster’ anymore. I think he sold his financial interest in 538 a while ago and has since even left his gig at ABC/ESPN. He’s now – well, I’m not really sure what he does now for a living. Writer, maybe?

Now that they’ve all agreed that the conspiracy “theory” about Biden’s senescence is true, can we all decide that “his” decisions were complete, anti-American garbage??

Dump Biden, go MAGA!

    No, no.
It was Sudden-Onset Dementia that hit Joe on debate night

Biden is in a tough spot, when he steps down he and his associates have a lot of crimes to answer for.

I beieve you have poked the bear right in the eye. THIS is somehing his handlers know all too well, and fear. WHY do THEY fear? Because if Biden goes down, they will as well. The association is too close and too longstanding for any of them to play “iggerunts”.
I note that the name “Epstein” has been in the news of late. Specifically the Brian unit bearing that forsaken surname. Would not surprise me in the least if when it DOES come time to “exit stage left” there will be a few large private aircraft on the tarmac where Air Force One would have been the day before. Their heading would be soug=therly upon clearing the local flight path.

call George Soros. ask him what he thinks FJB should do. ask him which one of his anti-American, world chaos socialists he’s going to spend money in the MSM to promote to replace FJB on the Democrat/Socialist ticket

If Biden was a true public servant he would step down and cement a legacy that will now make him the worst president since Buchanan.

He is a danger. But money talks. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. The question is open whether he stays or goes, however. It’s hopes and wishes for now, no matter the position.

If there’s to be cheating, does it matter who they run? Too big to rig. That is the ultimate answer.

Unless I am mistaken (following several years of Catholic school catechism) neither Mr. Silver nor the elected representatives calling for Biden to withdraw as a candidate or resign are the “Lord Almighty.”

Joe made it clear. He’s not stepping down. The voters chose him to be the nominee. (He’s right.) His father told him that when you get knocked down you get right back up. Dr. Jill says they won’t allow 90 minutes to erase 3 1/2 years of his “accomplishments.”

Suck it up and shut up, Dems! You wanted him, you’ve got him!

henrybowman in reply to bev. | July 7, 2024 at 11:32 am

Pretty sure the voters did NOT choose him to be the nominee in 2020 (the DNC did, via their usual sleight of hand), and haven’t had the opportunity to do so this year either.

MarkS in reply to henrybowman. | July 7, 2024 at 12:14 pm

here’s another slight of hand that should concern Joe:
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kzoHDwQCOM

I agree that the DNC (with Obama’s assistance) greased the skids for Joe to be the nominee in 2020. Then the dye was cast. Anyone who had any direct interaction with Joe, even back in 2019, had to have been exposed to his cognitive impairment, though some may have been in denial mode. They may have hoped or assumed that Joe would follow through with his initial stated intention to be a transitional President and not seek reelection in 2024. Ah, but the trappings of power and prestige overwhelmed Joe, Jill, and even (and perhaps especially) the puppet masters.

So when Joe, the family and the puppet masters decided they could pull off the charade of Joe being a competent POTUS for another 4 years there really wasn’t any way he (and the puppet masters) could be stopped.

Incumbent Presidents almost always win the primaries, as Joe did. Hence the primary voters did “choose” him as their nominee. So he’s correct on that point; although most Democrats would have preferred a different option, they really weren’t given one (RFK, Jr was pushed aside.)

The DNC, Obama and others, by foisting Joe as the candidate in 2020 created their current calamitous situation.

“Polling expert Nate Silver”. Why categorize Silver as an expert. He just asks people for their opinion or preference. His expertise, if any, lies in manipulating the poll population so as to get the result he wants in the first place.

Oh what a tangled mess we weave
When we practice to deceive.

They stole their way into this.

There’s only two people who’s opinion matters. Ms. Jill Biden and Mr. Barack Obama.

He did become the left wing guru wth a 1 win record

“Calls on Joe Biden to Resign”

Wrong person. Joe has no say in the matter.
Need to call on Jill Biden.

healthguyfsu | July 7, 2024 at 2:36 pm

He’s not wrong. It would be smarter and easier for them to replace Biden if he resigns before the end of this term.

healthguyfsu | July 7, 2024 at 2:37 pm

If Dems don’t get Biden out of the race then they really don’t want to win this election IMO. The question if that happens are what poison pills do they leave in place to discredit their opposition.

Looks like Biden’s doctor just another member of the corrupt clan, in connection with brother James and the company he fleeced. Why is this not a surprise?

The DNC cannot be allowed to pretend they just discovered Joe was senile. The entire party propped up this faux presidency and perpetrated a fraud upon the American people and the entire party needs to pay a stiff price.

Freed from the election… Biden will unlease EOs…. let me rephrase that… The Rubber Stamp will unlease EOs… total amnesty, pardons, everything the Dems want but couldn’t risk and all placed on Biden.

      Nice cover there…

but we should all remember that the power vested in he Execuive that can be activated by an EO is limited. And HE and is handlesr s know this.
Of course that does ot preclude their giving it a good go anyway. It will then take Trump a few weeks to undo their farce.

Being dirty, they WILL of nature DO dirty.

This is as much a commentary about Nate Silver (and his industry) as it is about Joe Biden. Nate Silver is a pollster – someone who is supposed to scientifically and dispassionately measure political opinions. But why is a pollster even recommending a political action (that is his right of course)? Shouldn’t the pollster be detached? Pollsters such as Nate Silver are not detached but clearly hold positions. These held positions inevitably influence their “measurements” of public opinion. Each poll should come with a disclosure statement regarding the political beliefs of the pollster. That way the public can evaluate their “measurement” of public opinion.

Christopher B | July 7, 2024 at 5:05 pm

The headline seems to be a bit confusing. As far as I know Silver is not and never has been a pollster. He has reviewed and analyzed polls as part of being an election forecaster and pundit.

Lefties have little compunction about using violence to achieve their goals. And that’s about all I dare to say here.

Shouldn’t pollsters at least PRETEND to be unbiased?

For Nate Silver, the author of ‘The Signal and the Noise’, the signal is anything the left tells him it is. Everything not on the ‘agenda’ is the noise. Mr. Silver can cleverly add 2 and 2 and get whatever the agenda tells him it should be. They all ask biased questions, get biased answers and create biased results. Nate is just better than most at this charade. The wonder is why anyone pays any attention to political polls. I guess it’s all they have to pontificate about.

Whenever I see talk of replacing him Kamala Harris always comes up early in the thread of names. WHY is it that NO ONE has yet pointed out the clear FACT that she cannot sit as President? The Constitution very clearly establishes the restriction on this one office alone, declaring that ONLY a Natural Born Citizen can be president. Harris is NOT. Doesn’t matter where she was born, but neither of her parents were US citizens at the time of her birth. One was a citizen of Jamaica, the other of India, thus both were British Subjects when Kamala was born.

Since Kamala cannot be President, that position would bypass her to I believe it would be speaker of the House. She could remain as Vice President. She lawfully holds that office (we will accept for the sake of THIS discussion the position that she was in fact lawfully elected in the first place…. not my current issue.
