Only 27% of Registered Voters Believe Biden has Mental and Cognitive Health to Serve as President

But Biden still has his finger on the nuclear weapons button; the nuclear “football” is in close proximity 24/7/365

You saw the debate. We saw the debate. And the American people think President Biden is mentally compromised, as a very recent CBS News poll found that only 27 percent of registered voters think Biden has the cognitive abilities to discharge the duties of the office of President.

From Fox News: Majority of voters thinks Biden is cognitively unfit to serve as president: poll:

A poll released by CBS News on Sunday found that more voters have doubts about President Biden’s cognitive abilities after Thursday’s presidential debate….

When asked earlier in June if Biden had the mental and cognitive health to serve as president, 35% of respondents said he did. After the debate, that number dropped to 27%.

In agreement with that majority of voters would be Professor Jacobson, who argued in a recent post that the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution should be invoked immediately to remove Biden from office: Biden’s Cognitive Decline Is A National Security Threat – Invoke The 25th Amendment NOW:

Democrats are in complete panic over Joe Biden’s performance in last night’s debate. This was no mere bad debate, many candidates have had bad debates and recovered.

This debate displayed Biden’s severely declined cognitive ability for all the world to see for an hour and a half. The media cannot claim the live video feed from CNN was a manipulated “cheap fake” – the smear campaign used against those of us who have been pointing out the obvious for over a year, but particularly recently with Biden visibly freezing and zoning out in public appearances:

Democrats are focused on whether a mentally diminished Biden can win the election againt Trump, and who would be a better candidate. Democrats are caught between a rock (a diminished Biden) and a hard place (the even more unpopular and non-serious replacement Kamala Harris, who Democrats would be loath to replace because she checks identity group boxes).

Democrats need to put aside whether Biden is up to the task of being a successful nominee. No honest person who watched last night’s debate can think that Biden mentally is up to the job of being President.

If I’m China, I’m taking off the shelf the war plans to invade Taiwan. If I’m Iran, I’m breaking out towards a nuclear weapon. If I’m Putin, I’m doubling down on Ukraine and possibly other former Soviet satellites. Can you imagine an emergency situation where immediate military decisions that only a president can make need to be made in seconds or minutes, and the military having to go to diminished Joe for a decision?

This is serious stuff. This is no joke. Biden’s cognitive decline is a national security threat of the highest order.

[emphasis added]

As Professor Jacobson alludes to, the problem is that Joe Biden still has his finger on the nuclear weapons button, although that image is a bit of a misnomer, as an October 2022 Times of India article makes clear:

Doomsday could start with a football — the so-called “nuclear football” as the attache case carried wherever the US president goes is popularly known.

The rather awkwardly stuffed black bag doesn’t look like much, the only clue to its importance being that it never leaves the hand of a uniformed military aide.

But inside are top secret codes and plans enabling a president to authorize nuclear strikes — and pick from a sort of menu of targets — anywhere in the world….

[W]hen President Joe Biden, for example, traveled to Puerto Rico, Florida, New York, New Jersey and Maryland within the space of a few days this November, he traveled, as he does everywhere, with his “football.”

According to Biden, Russian President Vladimir Putin is threatening the world with “Armageddon” when he hints at using nuclear weapons against Ukraine.

The US riposte, if it happened, could be launched from the back of the Beast limousine. Or Air Force One. Or a secret bunker….

More discreet — and also bearing a deceptively innocuous nickname — is the other important element in triggering nuclear war: the “biscuit.”

If the “football” houses the menu of war plans, the “biscuit” contains the codes, known as Gold Codes, by which the president can identify himself and make the order.

About the size of credit cards, one of these is meant to be carried by the president at all times.

But that’s a problem, as we know, because some of Biden’s aides have reported that Biden has cognitive trouble outside of the 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. window, or when travelling abroad. From Business Insider: Biden’s aides said his debate performance was poor because he struggles to function after 4 p.m., report says:

President Joe Biden‘s aides have defended his debate performance, saying he struggles to function outside a six-hour window during the day, Axios reported.

The publication, citing people close to the president, said Biden worked best between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

According to the anonymous aides who spoke with Axios, Biden is more likely to make verbal mistakes and become tired outside this time period or while traveling abroad.

As Professor Jacobson argued, Russia, China, and /or Iran are all more inclined now to take advantage of the U.S. now, and it seems unlikely that they would do so at a time convenient for Joe Biden. We need a President who can take that 3 a.m. call and be fully aware, fully coherent, and capable of making critical national security decisions then and there.

Do we have that?

And, as Professor Jacobson noted in his recent discussion of the debate, SCOTUS Rulings and Debate Disasters – Oh My, his argument about invoking the 25th Amendment is not a partisan issue; only the Democrats can make that happen and the upshot would be VP Kamala Harris taking over as President, not a Republican. But at least Kamala has presumably uncompromised cognitive abilities, and while she may be unlikely to make a good decision, at least she could make one.

The world is a very dangerous place between now and the November election, that’s for sure.

Biden has re-confirmed that HE is THE threat to democracy, despite his claims to the contrary, as he targets the Supreme Court, which has essentially shielded him for his crimes.

Or. The Biden syndrome: a figurehead who is incompetent to stand trial for crimes committed and totally incapacitated to be president

The people in the White house keep proving every day that he does not have the capability to do the job and are endangering America. The latest is a statement that the debate preparers worked him too hard. Give me a break. This is far, far from a 10AM to 4PM job. I can’t wait for a Trump ad where the “red telephone” rings at 3AM and an answering machine picks up and says that President Biden will not be available until his 6 hour window.

    Paula in reply to jb4. | July 1, 2024 at 8:51 pm

You can’t trust what his aides say. Naturally they are trying to protect him. If they say he is competent from 10 to 4 it really means they take care of all his needs like he’s a mental patient from 10 to 4 and then he goes to sleep.

    geronl in reply to jb4. | July 2, 2024 at 1:07 am

He is vaguely sentient for a few hours per day, on a good day. On a bad day it is less.

The real number is 0%.
Those 27% are the die hard Democrats who just cant concede anything that could be considered supporting Trump.

Biden can read off a teleprompter, but he can’t carry on a conversation. He’s so disoriented when he goes out in public he feels like an astronaut leaving the safe confines of his space ship. He’s so spaced out he needs a space suit to keep him from floating away.

An immediate mental health exam for the 27% who believe Biden is totes ok is absolutely in order.

In the SCOTUS ruling for Trump

FJB now declares that he can do as he pleases b/c there is no law for the potus

fjb is a national disaster

Presidents have no more than 15-minutes to decide to launch a nuclear counter-attack after an adversarial attack is detected. Does anyone believe Joe Biden is capable of deciding what to order for lunch within 15-minutes much less deciding to deploy our nuclear arsenal in that time-frame?

If the Fourth Estate weren’t a.fallacy, media organizations would have been discussing nothing but this reality after last Thursday’s terrifying performance by Biden.

JackinSilverSpring | July 1, 2024 at 9:09 pm

Question: How many of the voters who think Brandon is demented will still vote for him?

That’s a vote for “not Trump.” The committee, whoever is on it, will work for Dems better than Trump, is the idea.

With Biden polling at roughly 45% in the RCP average (although that is likely to fall this week as new post-debate polling comes in) and only 27% of all voters (presumably all Dems) believing he’s up to the job, cognitively, it looks like it’s a reasonably big number of Dems who are still voting for Biden no matter what; maybe more than a third of them. That’s…a lot, IMO.

JackinSilverSpring in reply to TargaGTS. | July 1, 2024 at 11:24 pm

Despite my question, it amazes me how many people will still vote for this cadaver.

Amazing and terrifying. I looked at the Real Clear Politics polling average to see where Obama was against Romney on this day in 2012: 46.5%. This morning, Biden is at: 45%.

He’s only polling 1.5-points behind Obama. It’s inexplicable. The left side of this electorate is no longer populated with rational actors. They’re sectarian actors.

Trump is polling 3-points higher than where Romney was and almost 2-points higher than Obama, FWIW.

25% is the magic number that will believe anything no matter how absurd. Not the same 25% all the time, but always 25%.

Since 27% of voters believe Biden has sufficient mental and cognitive health to serve as president—

this means that 27% of voters do not have sufficient mental and cognitive health to vote.

It is appalling that 27% believe this Cabbage has the mental ability to lead our Country! It is downright scary and unsettling that there are Americans who will vote for this demented traitor! Asking you legal scholars: Is there any way or mechanism whereby the election can be moved up? I fear our Republic is in jeopardy!

Milhouse in reply to olafauer. | July 1, 2024 at 9:56 pm

Congress and the state legislatures could change the general election date, but Biden would still be president until noon on Jan 20.

1. Only 27% are confident that he’s mentally capable of functioning as president, but something like 45% are still planning to vote for him, presumably because they’d rather have a vegetable than a Republican, or than Trump.

2. The idea that this week’s events have made the world a more dangerous place, and therefore justify replacing Biden with Harris, makes no sense to me. Does anyone seriously think that our enemies were unaware of all this before the debate?! They surely knew it already, and have therefore already factored it into their calculations. The world is exactly as dangerous now as it was last week, no more. All that has happened is that the Democrats with bylines are no longer able to pretend otherwise.

    jb4 in reply to Milhouse. | July 1, 2024 at 10:14 pm

I agree with respect to the world at large. However, the election has become somewhat less certain for Biden. Desperate men/women can do desperate things. IMO the Democrats have a hundreds of billions gravy train at stake. For example, I think the odds of Judge Merchan giving Trump a prison sentence have gone up, with uncertain consequences. I hope Trump’s Secret Service protection is good.

      Paul in reply to jb4. | July 1, 2024 at 11:23 pm

The prison gang bosses will all kiss Trump’s ring. He will be the top dog on the yard, without a doubt.

      JackinSilverSpring in reply to jb4. | July 1, 2024 at 11:33 pm

I do not know why Trump’s legal team has not appealed the verdict to a federal court. There was simply basis to bring the original charges. The indictment was based on a misdemeanor passed its expiration date and then on a second felony never specified. I think that violates certain constitution amendments.

The “novel legal theory” needs to be trash canned. You can’t try a person on an unspecified “second charge” to magically turn misdemeanors into felonies without stating the second charge in advance, having to prove it in court and allowing the defendant to defend themselves.

Bragg violated his due process rights at a minimum.

I would think because at this stage there is no sentence to appeal??

Not sure it even matters.

In other words, 27% of registered voters are mentally retarded.

People must stop arguing out of both sides of their mouth. If you believe the country is being run by a cabal, with Biden acting as a tame prop, then there is a protocol, not necessarily formal, that will deal with nuclear conflict. It is disingenuous to show such concern for his diminished decision making abilities. The real mission (which no one has the balls to confront) is eliminating and punishing the power usurpers.

mrtomsr in reply to E Howard Hunt. | July 2, 2024 at 9:33 am

As was pointed out to me, it is very conceivable that, he did/was coerced to, sign a document that delegated his Presidential decision making authority to specific others. I would assume that delegated authority was legally permissible and was given to people legally authorized to carry out that authority.

If, after a change in administration, we find that delegation of Presidential decision making authority was not legal, or that the individuals wielding that authority weren’t legally allowed, then a whole new issue will before the judiciary and Citizens of the Country.

27% of people need to share an Uber with Biden to the closest neurologist taking new patients …,,geesh

Andrzejr2 (właso) | July 2, 2024 at 9:06 am

If we could turn back time, we would just turn it back to June 28, 8:30 p.m. and cancel the debate. And today, Biden would still be fully functional, both physically and cognitively. And capable of procreating, because he would also retain his keen sense of smell.

But Biden still has his finger on the nuclear weapons button

Somebody does, but it isn’t Biden.

Even though the media is about as in-the-tank for progressives as it could be, I’m still surprised no one in the mainstream media seems to have any appetite for exploring the dynamic you’ve described. Is no one curious who’s in charge of the most powerful armed forces on the planet? Apparently not.

The same cabal that stole the election is running the country. Biden has never been president.

Our president is, and has been, Trump, the winner of the 2020 election.

He has been kept from his job by the cabal–and by ‘supporters’ too weak and demoralized to stop this.

We all wait for the catalyst and wonder as each new day brings new affront– ‘who will help?’

No one.

If we do not care enough to fight, why should anyone else?

It is clear that, to the right, there is no hill worth dying for.

… which means that 27% of voters do not have the mental and cognitive health to understand that Biden is one of them.

Many of them are really curious about Dunning-Kreuger, but so far haven’t been able to find a liquor store that carries it.

It seems the panic has fully set in now. New from Jake Tapper, part-time CNN host, full-tim official Spokesman of the DNC, INC….

Sources: Democratic governors held a call yesterday afternoon…Just governors – no staffs – no one from campaign or WH…Organized by Gov Tim Walz of Minnesota for the DGA. On the call Dem. governors expressed concern about what’s going on with the president. They know if they come forward publicly with concern that likely will cause Biden to dig in more. They were also surprised none of them had heard from him. There was discussion on the call about wanting to have a call with the campaign or White House…Some discussion about having VP Harris address them…There was strong sentiment that they needed to hear directly from President Biden. They are trying to set up a meeting at the WH …or via Zoom for those who can’t come…nothing is on the books yet….but WH knows of request. Dem Govs are not coming in with any specific message– but they feel they need to hear from President Biden

It’s not as if this is unreasonable or unexpected.
“Proof of life” is a pretty standard demand in these situations.

If someone is deemed “unfit to stand trial” and he doesn’t contest it and demand a trial. he is certainly unfit to hold any office.

The 25th Amendment should be amended to include not contesting being unfit to stand trial as a trigger for removal from office.
