Anti-Israel Mob Protests Outside Bnai Yeshurun Synagogue in Teaneck, NJ

An anti-Israel mob descended upon Congregation Bnai Yeshurun in Teaneck, NJ, this week during a fundraising event for a group called Zaka, which recovers the bodies of terrorism victims.
Members of the Jewish community found out that the protest was happening and came out in numbers to defend the event and the venue.

Hate group “Within Our Lifetime” advertised a protest at a synagogue. A huge amount of counter-protestors showed up, chanting “Am Yisrael Chai.” The Hamas supporters, outnumbered, trailed off. More of this, please—show up, speak up, shut down the bullies.

More than a thousand people demonstrate outside Teaneck synagogue over Israel-Gaza war
Pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian demonstrators faced off near the Congregation Bnai Yeshurun synagogue Monday night during a ceremony that honored victims of the Oct. 7 Hamas attack in Israel.
The event that took place at 8 p.m. was hosted by Zaka, an Israeli search-and-rescue non-government organization that offers humanitarian assistance in response to a terror attack, disaster or accident.
Pro-Palestinian demonstrators had planned a protest outside the synagogue led by Within our Lifetime, a New York-based Palestinian organization.
At around 6 p.m. before the ceremony, more than a thousand Israeli supporters filled the residential streets as they gathered in front of the synagogue to form their own counter-protest.
A rabbi spoke to the crowd saying: “This harassment stops here and tonight. The Jewish community of Teaneck will not stand and let our houses of worship be targeted again and again. They will not run us out of town.”

The pain and tension from the war between Israel and Hamas continues to be on full display in our own backyard.
On Monday night, there were clashes at a New Jersey synagogue as pro-Palestinian demonstrators showed up in protest against an event.
The anger continues to rise between Palestinians and Israelis in Teaneck. The latest incident happened Monday at the middle of a residential corner outside of the Congregation Bnai Yeshurun Temple.
“Proud of the community, proud of the community. They are doing a great job and I stand behind Israel 100%,” resident Steve Segal said.
Police were out in full force, keeping both sides apart and safe. But at times, things did get out of hand and officers were quick to sweep protesters from both sides off the streets.
“It’s a sad world at the moment. Our country has been turned upside down, but our country will come through it,” Segal said.
Things got a little crazy.

It’s time to start enforcing our mask laws again. The ones that say wearing a mask to conceal your identity while committing a crime is a crime itself.

Are we to assume that it’s fine for an anti-Israel mob to descend upon a Jewish Synagogue and deliberately disrupt the peace, threaten the lives of innocent people and chant violent hate speech against Jews? That’s not a crime?
But try walking on the grounds of the US Capitol on J6 and you will face serious prison sentences.
Sorry, the comparison is invalid. These antisemitic protesters did not trespass on the synagogue property. They stayed on the street, so they were not breaking the law (except the few who engaged in violence, of course).
Had the J6 protesters stayed on the Mall, or on parts of the Hill that were still open to the public, they would not have been arrested. I agree that they have been persecuted beyond all reason, that Trump should have pardoned them before he left office, and that he should now pardon them as soon as he takes the oath next Jan 20, but the fact remains that the comparison you draw is invalid.
So happy to see this happening! A reawakening taking place! Hamas has awakened a sleeping giant, one which they should have not messed with in the first place. Hamas’ entire premise is based on lies, fairy tales, and myths perpetuated by obsessive-compulsive Muslim conspiracy theories. Islam is replete with them, and they stick to them even if disproven thoroughly.

How can any Jewish Americans residing in NJ or NY possibly vote for four more years of a Biden presidency?
I’d be surprised if Trump did not carry Teaneck in 2020, and I’ll be even more surprised if he doesn’t increase his voter there in 2024.
Unfortunately, the protesters and protestees probably will vote for the SAME political candidates in November.
We’ll see about that. I wouldn’t make broad presumptions and generalizations about American Jews’ voting predilections in the current climate, and without specific evidence applying to a specific situation.
I am a member of the Jewish community, in ultra liberal Tampa, FL, and I can’t really read the tea leaves on my own typically uber democrat supporting community. I’ve noticed that the usual Israel bashing Jews are a lot quieter now and I’m seeing a lot of my cohort moving their kids out of the reform Hebrew schools with the same concerns I’ve had for years, that it’s teaching them to hate themselves. I’m also seeing a lot more open expression of Judaism then I’ve ever seen in Tampa. People wearing hostage tags, magen david, even yarmalukes. I don’t know what this will translate too, and if people are voting way or the other, but I do see that the Jewish community is becoming stronger from this, with a stronger pull to positivity, expressing pride and love to one another, including our Israeli family. And that is different. The Purim carnival I went to 2 weeks ago was packed with over 200 people whereas last year maybe about 50 showed up. So there’s a pull towards each other right now and defending and supporting one another, The few nut jobs you see screaming “I’m ashamed to be a Jew” are the outliers, and I feel strongly that most Jews are very disgusted by them.
I’m Jewish too…from the northern tribe of Skokie-ites…I have one first cousin who is conservative and votes Republican. She has told me that since October 7, her younger sister and family have decided to vote Republican this year…step by step, inch by inch….

Seems I was wrong about Teaneck in 2020; Biden got 16,737 votes there, and Trump only 6,141. Teaneck is about 35-40% Jewish. I’d still bet that very few of the Jews who showed up to this demo voted for Biden. And I’ll bet that Trump will improve his vote there this year.
Who protests an organization that helps gives the deceased a decent burial? How much hate do you have to have in your heart to not show respect for the dead? Nice to see the Jewish community come out in force and say enough of this trying to terrorize us and shut down our ability to worship and gather together as a community. It shows these “pro-palestinian” to be the dumb, hate filled people that they are. So certain of their place on the “right side of history” that are willing to scream hatred and try to block entrance to a synagogue.
What’s more, Zaka is not just for Jews. It includes Moslem volunteers who take care of Moslems who die in terror attacks, accidents, disasters, etc, and make sure they receive the dignities required by Moslem law.
Jewish protesters in the US never show up at Mosques and harass Muslims.
Mosques are presumed armories.
When you carry your demonstrations to synagogues, it’s pretty hard to argue that it has nothing to do with anti-semitism.
There should be demonstrations at Mosques, 5 times a day.
