Three Hezbollah fighters and 12 Syrian rebels were killed in fierce battles near Syria’s border with Lebanon, security sources said Sunday, as the Syrian opposition accused the party of “military intervention” in the neighboring country’s bloody conflict.
The fighting, the worst near the border with Lebanon since the uprising erupted in Syria nearly two years ago, underlined Hezbollah’s increasing involvement in the Syrian crisis. It also renewed fears of the Syrian conflict between government troops and opposition groups fighting to topple the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad spilling over into Lebanon.
“In the past two days, 12 Syrian rebels were killed and 30 wounded, while three Hezbollah members were killed and 14 others were wounded in battles,” a Lebanese security source told The Daily Star.

Free Syrian Army spokesperson Louay al-Moqdad said that the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah has been coordinating with the Syrian army and is now waging ground offensives inside Syria.
“For the first time [Hezbollah] is conducting ground offensives [in Qusayr] with the help of the arsenal stationed in Syrian villages and Lebanese border-towns that are under its control,” Moqdad said in remarks published by An-Nahar newspaper on Monday.
He added that the military operations of Hezbollah were lead by two of its officials, Mustafa Badreddine Din and Wafiq Safa.
Badreddine was indicted by the Special Tribunal for Lebanon for involvement in the 2005 assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri.

While I’m not proud about having reached this point, I hope that the conflict lasts for decades with heavy casualties every day on both sides.
Yes, I understand – and agree fully. Although I do hope they’re better at killing each other than they’ve proven so far. Decades is a long time – I would settle for 5-10 years with lots of financial treasure from Russia & Iran evaporating in the process.
Not enough hezbollah scum were sent to their 72 virgin goats.

This is good news. Let them kill each other and spare the American taxpayer’s bomb, bullets, and Guantanamo lemon chicken fees.
The truly sad part of all this is there are so many innocent, decent, hard-working civilians in Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, and Iran who have been subjected to so many decades of despotism and barbarism.
For them, no relief is in sight any time soon.

Give the rebels a bit of support, mostly bullets and beans. When they start getting the upper hand, pull the support and give Assad the bullets and beans.

As much as I have mixed feelings about our time spent in Iraq and Afghanistan, the one definite positive I can think of is that a lot of wannabee jihadi’s went there and assumed room temperature. At least while the ROE was fairly open.
Turkey is lovely for male visitors, but not if you are a female.
Even the Peace Corps has stopped their programs in Islamic hell-holes. Too many young white women raped and/or murdered.

As for the Syrian conflict – it’s the same as the Libyan and other current Islamic conflicts, the ‘protestors’ ‘rebels’ and others are made up of Islamists from every Islamic nation and some Western nations (UK, US, Canada, etc.).

Only difference between this year’s Islamic conflicts and those of yesteryear is the technology.
